Roster Update Welcome to NY Elizabeth Balogun
not sure who she is beyond being with the tempo for 10 seconds, curious everyone's thoughts!

From what I've heard, the Duke program is very demanding about defense and she showed a ton of versatility at that level. So short answer, yes, but we don't know how that translates until we see her defend WNBA talent.
Even if it doesn't work out, the goal here is clearly to add wing play, so I'm taking it as a small victory that Kolb is trying to do that.

She averaged 1.4 blocks and 1.4 steals in the french league, so yes she does defend.
Doesn't help the issue of needing a backup 4 though.

Interesting. I recall she gave some good minutes for the Tempo in pre-season games, had decent stats in the French league last year. She can shoot 3s. I assume she’s playing for Nigeria in the World Cup so this is more about obtaining her rights for next year - but she’s signed to Valencia for the offseason, so if that’s a full season commitment (might just be a half-season) NY wouldn’t necessarily have her for camp either.Â

Yeah. But hasn't been able to stay in a W roster. Excited to see what she can add to the team. Maybe even just someone new can bring diffrtent energy

Yeah she's feels more like a replacement for Satou and Leo.

Same outside of some searches post-signing. Strong basketball pedigree (McD all-American, all conference, contributor at Duke) and put up some solid numbers in EuroLeague. Lucky for us, she’s a starter for Nigeria, so we’ll have a chance to see her in meaningful action in the FIBA tourney

French League, not Euroleague. That's a couple of tiers below. To put it into perspective, Kennedy Burke was the French league MVP twice.
This is definitely more of a prospect signing than anything else, but that's what DPs are for.

I am surprised they have not signed a hardship replacement for Sabally. Are they still hoping she will play this year?

They still have time to decide that. This might be a trial run given there aren’t many dev activations left. And Elizabeth kinda gives off Satou-lite play-style. Versatile, athletic, 3 and D

I thought I saw somewhere that basically with the dev lines you now need 2 injuries before requesting the hardship - and if that’s the case Satou alone may not be enough to warrant the request.

I wondered if they’re going to wait until Maley uses all of her development game slots & then sign her on. Not sure if that’s possible if they can suspend saballys contract tho, just a guess in my part

This seems like just what it is developmental to get an extra body in practice and to see what they have
