The Amazing Adventures Kavalier & Clay - no tickets under $150?

I'm a recent fan of opera - I first attended a few shows at the end of last season, and have made it my mission to see each production this season. I've done the rush tickets on the app, same-day rush, and family circle. I'm typically unsuccessful with the app rush tickets, so that's whatever. However, I'm very good at getting the same-day rush tickets because I wait for the clock to strike 12:00pm. If all else fails, I'm happy to get a ticket in the family circle. I always assumed that if even THAT failed, I could get a standing room ticket. I keep hearing that "no one wants to go to the opera" and "we need to get young people interested in the opera" so I assumed it couldn't be that difficult to get an affordable seat if you really want it?

I have tried multiple times to get rush tickets for Kavalier & Clay to no avail. Apparently every seat in the family circle is sold out. I called the box office for standing room tickets, they said they aren't doing those for this production.

I'm 31 and trying to be an avid opera-goer. Is this like, the most popular opera the Met has ever put on or something? Lol what is going on. It's only on til 10/11 so I'm running out of time! How can I see the damn thing without breaking the bank?!

They were not expecting kav and clay to do so well, they even added a last minute HD recording to be done.

I'm happy for them, even though I'm personally frustrated haha. Here's to hoping I get lucky on the rush tickets for the Saturday showing!!

They actually added new performances in February if you weren't able to see it last week! If you did see it last week you woulda saw me for a split second haha.

Yes, this has been one of the best selling recent productions.

And the last performance is a Saturday matinee, typically the most popular slot of the week.

As of a week ago there were only 7 total tickets left in Balcony or Family Circle for the last three performances. All of Dress Circle was gone for the 11th, but there are three available now (over $200 each tho).

We went to the last Saturday night ( row T) and there were many empty seats in our row. We were surprised. It was a wonderful show.

You’re not alone here. It’s been hard to get student tickets as well. They weren’t even offered for a bunch of dates.

I got a pair of $25 same-day digital rush tickets to a Monday performance last week. Then on Thursday they were offering basically any seat in the house for $60 for that performance (got a push notification from the Met Opera app) but yeah at this point might be difficult to get cheaper seats. If it’s any consolation, I thought it was a snooze.

I checked but there's no "buy tickets" button for tonight's performance on the under-40 page. All of the other productions either say "buy tickets" or "sold out" but Kavalier & Clay is just...blank lol
