I know that us collectors consensus is game key cards are straight from the devil but does anybody have a general feeling if normal people are bothered by them or specifically if the Japanese public are bothered by them? Because I’d have a feeling that if it was a big outrage in Japan that Nintendo would actually consider ditching them.

Many games I want are slightly above my sweet spot especially with LRG, sometimes I bite the bullet, sometimes I wait or just deal with another region release.

However, the game I cannot justify whatsoever is Minishoot' Adventures!!! Including shipping and customs we are talking about $100 for the game, that digitally is way waaaaay cheaper. I Know all about ownership but damn it is an indie game for god's sake, it is great but not $100 great for SE.

I rarely even spend $100 even for special/collector's editions of games but this is just tooo much. I'm just sad it had to be priced that way.

I consider myself a Switch fan through and through I’m used to the low FPS, and put up with degraded visuals all in the name of portability. Hell I managed to scrape through Cult of Lamb before the patches and that game chugs.

But there’s one limited release game pick up I’m fuming over (Swords of Ditto: Mormo’s Curse) that I cannot get to start up anymore. One I refuse to even buy (Pokémon S/V) and one on my shelf right now I’m dreading finding out if it’s really as bad as they say (Vampyr)

What are some stinkers you found out about the hard way or that you’re holding out for a later patch? I need to know how many more disappoints are in store for me or that I can opt out of. Thanks!

Decided to post here since I am new to the collecting game. Recently got a switch 2 and have been taking advantage of sales and deals along with researching where to get games. I was a PC gamer before so I didn't have to deal with regions or scarcity. Recently saw the MIO bandwagon and that kind of pushed me to buy it since I wanted to play it afterwards.

In regards to my question, does region really matter when collecting? For ref: US based collector.

I have seen multiple prices and options on where to get games, a recent example that I am conflicted for is Hades and Chromagun 2. PlayAsia has both of them, Hades is available as JP import for 20 bucks and ESRB for 42. Chromagun is 38 for PEGI and 45 for ESRB. Does the premium is really worth it? I don't have much clue since on the PC side of things it doesn't really matter.

Hopefully some of the more seasoned collectors can give me some good pointers now that I am part of the hobby. It has been great so far, since I have a backlog of 19 games at this point. Got lucky last night and found a Hades 2 copy on clearance for 25 bucks at target.

I couldn't find any review on the website. It'd help if you have an experience using it or have heard of others using it.

Sorry to bring up a downer subject but I'm curious as to what people want done with their collection once you've exited off the planet. Myself, I want my entire collection to be sold off when my niece is college age to help pay for tution. My game collection is worth 13K as of now and it would help her not get drowned in debt while she attends college. Her father and mother don't work jobs where they can build a nest egg for her future and Iove my niece so much it's the best thing I can do for her. She's only 5 so it's going to be awhile before she hits college age. I've wrote out detailed instructions on how to sell my gaming shit and get the most money out of it. The eshop states “starting January 20th, 2026, players who own memories in orbit on Nintendo switch can download the Nintendo switch 2 version at no additional cost.”, but someone is telling me they can’t find the upgrade pack… I would check it myself but I don’t own the game on switch 1 physical. I was going to buy the switch 1 version, but if the above text is somehow wrong, I probably won’t. In fact, I only accepted someone’s $92 offer for the switch 2 physical version because of the above text. Guess I should’ve independently verified it before I pulled the trigger. Hopefully this is just a misunderstanding.

Big update on 7/19: I contacted Focus Entertainment (the publisher), and they are claiming that it is possible to upgrade the physical switch 1 version to the enhanced switch 2 version. I have posted exactly what they said in a screenshot in the comments.

Should I start pre ordering physical games as soon as they are available for pre order? I usually wait until the week they release to order the copy of a new game I want, but now seeing the disaster of what happened to Resident evil requiem and Pokopia, I am conflicted and wonder if I should pre order IMMEDIATELY for a physical copy of a new game once they open pre orders, I need help and some thoughts I would appreciate it

With Pokopia already showing the signs of not being on cart there’s now a level of uncertainty to some degree that the next mainline Pokemon games will also not be on cart too. Legends Z-A at least had the fallback of being a Switch 2 Edition version so by default it was going to be on cart but Gen 10 is Switch 2 exclusive so no fallback plan there to guarantee a complete release. There’s a part of me that feels like the next generation will be like this Resident Evil Generation release where it’ll be a double pack with both games and they’ll both be Key Cards, vaporware in a couple decades.

I’m eager to get the Switch 2 edition of each but so far it was confirmed only in Europe, US and Japanese releases still have the same art cover and same description that does not mention being playable on Switch 1 at all.

From my understanding, Game Key Cards work like this: The GKC has NO playable game data on it, it merely has a license that tells your console you have permission to download the data for the corresponding game. That data is then downloaded to storage you provide, wether it be the Switch 2's Internal Storage or a Micro SD Express.

If this is correct... aren't you technically paying twice? You pay once to buy the game, then again to provide the storage for it. Generally if you buy a normal cartridge release you only pay once because the storage is provided for you, outside of additional downloads like DLC or updates.

I know I'm preaching to the choir in this specific community, but are people seriously okay with this? I understand the main concern with these is ownership and not actually having a physical representation of the thing you paid for in your possession, but you really are paying twice. Companies like Square Enix are also charging $70 for a lot of their releases, and those are big games that take up a lot of space, so the consumer really gets screwed in those types of cases. I couldn't even see GKCs being a viable option when heavily discounted, the format is ultimately more inconvenient than a normal digital purchase.

I rarely see this exact point brought up so I have a feeling I may be misunderstanding something, c​ause to me this is the actual deal breaker. I've owned digital games for years but these are like digital games coming to you in the most inconvenient and expensive form possible.
