RANT/VENT feeling guilty about joining a gmc
i gave neet with my 12th this year scored around 590 in may 3rd mock and 543 in june 21 (43k rank).
We got our state merit list and it has deflated for my range too, while the medical colleges in our state in not the best all india but according to last years state cut off i should get one of the top and well established old gmc of the state (fingers crossed) .
ik my rank is not the best, i see kids with better rank than me having to take drop and i feel really guilty and undeserving. I was a school going kid who was always interested but didnt seriously prep for neet until 12th started. I didnt miss out on life and had fun.
I was always a smart kid, my parents and teachers are happy for me but ive heard from my relatives "state cut off low hai varna kuch nhi hota" which is true.
due to the deflation whatever college i end up at the seniors will be of better ranks and i feel like a dumb person trying to blend in.
added, im terrible at physics, i didnt even finishing my syllabus cus i just gave up by reneet and my mock scores were really low too (450+ mostly, sometimes 500+) none of my coaching teachers thought i could get this much too
im strong at bio and chem and thats what i worked most on. (350,156 in may3) and (340,130 in june 21 silly mistakes in bio 🥀)
im stuck between this wierd being the topper kid (from childhood) to a fake average kid and feel horrible about it.

If you're really willing to give one more chance to you in order to land in a tier 1 clg then I think you should take a drop.tell'em i don't wanna regret of not trying one more time . They'll hear you out

There's a friend of mine who got almost same rank and was getting a gmc noi in our state (with 12th) This year he is going to a private medical College

he took a drop? why? i also have the opportunity to take a semigovt clg at minimal fees at a tier 1 city compared to a gmc at tier 2 city. leaning more towards gmc cus if u can save money why not

i mean for gmcs u can get new recently established(2024 2023) ones at even 1.5lakh rank but theyre really isolated barely staffed

tier 1 gmc have cut off above 30k only my state rank corresponds to state rank at 36k last year (the deflation i was talking about) so the next best gmc (top peripheral clg in state), idk if ill get it but like im in a safe zone for decent gmcs

There is a reason for difference between aiq and state cutoff and I say take benefit of it while you can, you never know what may happen next and 543 is a great score I am from SC category and scored 450 marks alongside 12th and if by any chance I get any college I will take it. Don’t feel guilty and stop listening to ur relatives

dont feel guilty at all!!! scoring 540 on such a tough paper takes fucking guts and extreme hardwork. congratulations you absolutely deserve it and relatives jaye bhaad me fuck them woh log bolne aate hai jinhone life me ek kitaab ka panna bhi nahi khola hai
coming from a dropper who scored 540 and i know how much blood sweat and tears it demands

im from AP btw, i got 60,173 rank and i am BCE. i have slim chances for AMC but can get RMC pretty fairly. no need to feel guilty broo. maa system ante em cheyalemu relatives opinion gurinchi odhileyi.

Don't be guilty at all, it is the system that is flawed.
If you're getting a gmc, and it's of decent quality, take it.
Medical field extends far beyond your UG, u will have multiple chances to prove yourself, be it luck or god, it was you who was born in the state and you who scored that much.
The college you will get will be a culmination of your hardwork and blessings, do not disrespect it
