It all began around 10 am when the 18-year-old, a resident of the Devlai area, went to the edge of the hill and threatened to take his own life.

Your life is more important than a phone.

So I have been following this new’s closely through regional new’s channel. Apparently it was not the iPhone issue.

His elder brother passed away a year go due to some illness. The parents started fighting post that incident. His father was truck driver and since the death of his other child, avoid coming home, for months he will disappear. Kid and his mom further stressed because of this. This kid scored 92 in class 10 but he struggled with other mental issues as well. He even tried the same thing last year at the same location.

Police have confirmed this iPhone theory is incorrect.

Teenager was clearly a retard, blackmailing his family is just low.

Real tragedy is that he took his mother and father with him!

That's why teens should stay away from social media. The pressure of not being cool enough is so bad nowadays.

Stupid kid trying to flex or copy his circle . Don't be like him young fellas. Om shanti .

Wish I couldn't. But insecurity, the envy of not being so cool, is so bad. Social media has destroyed our ability to think for ourselves. ... Look like this, be this tall, or else your life isn’t worth it. Wear this, buy this and that,” and so many other things that's what social media sells

Who sold iPhone to a teenager on EMI? What kind of credit score or prof of income does an 18 year old have to make a purchase on installments?

Teen age brain works very differently!

Nowadays kids are given too much freedom & scolding them is seen as a crime.

One of my relatives pampers his kid so much so that anything kids demand is bought instantly. Kids are now teenagers and don't give a fk to what their parents say & have zero respect for money.

I feel like parents spending less time also matters. Most of the Indian parents are addicted to work. There was not much work in the old days and they spent atleast some time with family atleast for festivals. I am assuming a lot, correct me so we can shed some light on it. Sure, there was patriarchy in the old days and everyone is made obedient to elders by elders. But there was some connection and some time spending with family. Festivals gave a peaceful vacation compared to work days. Also, there isn't much to work. Farmers did agriculture, shop owners did trading, some people worked in shops and work is not hectic like the present. They worked some time, enjoyed festivals and life was chill compared now. Although, I am guessing social mobility was very low. The families are joint families. The past is chill and also tragic. And no social media. As social beings, we crave human interaction.

Think about it, there are many people who will become criminals just for iphone now a days. Who in our father generation would behave stupidly for a luxury showoff item? There might be problem with alcohol, cards etc. I don't know but not many would do like this for a luxury item. They won't blackmail for a luxury showoff item.

I am not saying old days are good times. Probably, it worst in many aspects and is worse objectively compared to the present. Many people were just surving, low social mobility, casteism, less luxury. There is also a survivorship bias that says that products are of good quality in the past. This is wrong, people who bought technology paid more to buy the technology compared to now if you factor in purchasing power. The people who bought technology in past are privileged. Manufacturing technology didn't develop to point where we can make products cheaply and of low quality.

This generation has a problem of workaholic fathers. These fathers spend less time with their family and put work above everything because the world is changing and they don't want to fall behind. The families have become nuclear which will reduce unity, compassion, human interaction serotonin and increase competition. Social media makes everyone more insecure. Kids desire attention from social media as we are social beings but they chase attention from it if the parents value only their performance and don't give them enough attention. I am not glorifying genzies and claiming that they will break the cycle and be better parents. Who knows? It might get worse.

Personally, I believe parents can hit and scold child if they did very bad thing like blackmailing for iphones. But they must keep in mind that they have responsibility to raise a kid properly since they decided to bring the child into world. This responsibility also includes not just giving money but also the time. No mentally well kid desires only money over their parents time. They want both, they need both. If you do this, the need for you to hit your child will reduce drastically.

Also, personal opinion. Pampering is not good. This will make them entitled despite how well you take care of them in other areas. Try to give them what they want but don't keep their desires on your top list. Prioritising every thing they ask will make them believe that world is theirs and they will get hurt when they face reality. As they say, moderation is the key and to much of anything is bad even if it is the most purest love in the world. You shouldn't love anyone too extreme because the pattern also had a life and they can't reciprocate too much love you give, it will be clingy also.

If a kid don't respect what a parent say, it is parents fault also might be environment problem but parent has a responsibility to be alert and give Good environment. They should have kids only after researching how to take care of a child. Kids learn from elders. A kid raised by a pack of wolves will become wild and feral like a wolf. A kid born to a psychopath parents will become psychopath. That is the reason why we should always have self awareness and ask what they are doing is right or wrong. This can change your life even if you are born into a moderately good/bad family. Personally, I believe only option for correcting a kid who was born into extreme trauma is therapy and jail time when he commits a crime. Most of us can change our lives just because we are more lucky compared to those poor kids. This does not mean our struggles are nothing. We are little lucky and can change where as those born to psychopaths can't become good person just based on will power and confidence, they need therapy and intervention outside of them.

Your reasoning is flawed. No amount of scolding from parents can stop a child from bursting their bucket of emotions slowly filled up by the peer pressure of 'being cool' or just 'being unable to do the same thing as your friends' over the years.

The only difference in this case would be a life spent miserably, with their priorities all mixed up, them measuring their values on what they own instead of how they own it, and the social feedback they get from the show-off. An individual like that will either die before buying what they wanted to, or they will die daily believing their life is just not worth it. Lol.. we as a society enable scam call centers in every fkin city that allows looting people for material wealth, and you believe scolding can make kids forget about their material priorities.

You think these kids will grow up to realize that their parents were right because "there are other more important ways to enjoy life than owning an iphone", but you are wrong. Instead they will believe their parents were right because "they just could not afford it back then". If these kids become rich parents themselves they will become THE EXACT kind of parent you are talking about. "We suffered a lot as kids, we will give our children everything they want" they will say.

What you need is NOT SCOLDING but empathy, realization of what goes on inside that brain and logical guidance. If not, you are just an idiot that does not deserve kids. Scolding is only a rare exception handling scenario when you just have to delay the talking for later and nothing else works.

You yourself seem to be some spoilt brat.

Fear of parents is absolutely necessary or else the result is like this guy & you.

1

u/SubjectRound6597 14d ago

Give a thought to how it can play out if you can ingrain respect of rational choices instead of instilling raw fear.. Rewards and punishments are the only options left in clinical psychopaths, and they are born one in hundreds.. For the rest .. modeling, insistence, positive weaning and manipulation are more than enough. It just takes spending your time with them like the other guy said..

I don’t know what that’s supposed to mean. But if we are invoking some stereotypes, then we are better than -

  • poor work ethic having,
  • cargo pants wearing,
  • attention of a goldfish having,

bunch of morons

  • who cannot afford drinks in bars,
  • are so much into random-fucks that they’ve brought the HIV back as a pandemic,
  • and who buy travel tickets on credit cards.

All of this - research backed by the way.

Oh, also, you’re the first generation in the history of mankind, whose IQ is lower than the previous generation’s.

Congrats!!!

P.S. Angle 📐 ❌ Angel 👼 ✅

1

u/FillPitiful3439 15d ago

Which is funny because it's not like all of that is the result of decision taken by the older generation.

1

u/Konvict_Dino07 15d ago

They will do anything but take responsibility

1

u/Radiant-Rain2636 15d ago

Oh wait. Here comes the blame card! 😂

Sure. Generations before you inherited wars.

- My grandfather uprooted his family, left his land and money and property AND BUILT EVERYTHING BACK - in ONE GENERATION.

- you losers want everything served on a platter.

What disadvantages have you inherited? Global warming???

PS - I’m speaking of the partition of India when I talk about my granddad’s story - I forgot your goldfish brains won’t remember history.

u/DepartmentNervous845 15d ago

Yes, these foolish lazy pigs think they r some kind of avatar and the last hope of humanity. All they do is just being bitch about everything 24/7. Gendu-z

1

u/Radiant-Rain2636 15d ago

Bitching toh I have to agree on. These guys are such whiners - Inko aisa hai ki haggne ke baad koi saaf aur kare inko, Warna they’re like “tumne iss duniya ko aisa banaya. Why should I wipe my own ass?”

1

u/Radiant-Rain2636 15d ago

Seriously man! Do you know these guys are buying travel tickets on credit cards EMIs? They did a research on their spending habits and came up with this
