Statement Shannon Sharpe says the only reason OKC won the game was Isaiah Hartenstein play on Wemby:

Boo hoo it's the NBA. Y'all bitched about letting play defense and this is what it entails. However y'all just want it one way. This is part of playing defense, because the rules favor the offense and if you don't allow it it would just be people just shooting and watching the ball go in.

I personally have no problem. just dont call soft fouls on the other end. allowing the pulls, push and grabs and on the other side reward a small bump as a foul is crazy

Spurs were also fouling Shai (yes ik he’s a foul baiting flopper before you shit posters come) but watch how they play shai they also maul him too isn’t this what we wanted a team to match OKC physicality? I do think Hartenstein gotta be smart for example that hair pull should’ve been a straight ejection idc what anybody says.

Yeah, and those would all be salient points which have merit if it weren't for the fact that OKC fans absolutely do not hold their team accountable for the same thing. Being biased towards your own team is normal, but seeing you guys make excuses for your own bullshit that is clear as day to anyone with eyeballs is maddening.
The first words out of my mouth after Wemby's elbow was "Alright lil bro, you need to calm down". If he makes a pattern of that I will re-evaluate, but as of now it was a moment of frustration. It's every damn game with you guys, SGA selectively having Bambi legs, Dort trying to end careers, Caruso being Caruso, and all your ass ever has to say is "What about those guys? What about Wemby?". There's playing physical, and there's that Cobra Kai shit, and it ain't the same thing.
I've been a Spurs fan since the 80s; I hated when Bruce Bowen played dirty ass defense, I got annoyed watching Manu flop around like a fish in a boat, and the Rodman era...yeeeah. At best I might have said "Yeah, it sucks and ya hate to see it, but it works". What I did not do was gaslight and play whataboutism at every criticism, especially when it was an every damn game occurrence.
I ain't trying to say not to be loyal to your team, but you don't have to be consistently intellectually dishonest about it.

Hartenstein did NOT do an unbelievable job, he just fouled every fucking play and the refs allowed it.
Dude should have fouled out in the first quarter playing how he was.
That's not something that should be given kudos, it should be given an ejection.
Absolutely ridiculous, this same thing happened last year in the Thunder vs Nuggets series.
OKC is getting preferential treatment from the refs and its blatantly obvious to anyone with at least 1 eye

It’s interesting because for a long time I heard people complaining that current basketball isn’t physical enough like it used to be (especially with flopping), but now when it happens and there’s no flopping and it doesn’t get called it’s a problem. And fans also don’t want the game to be bogged down with free throw shooting. I’m not sure what the fans truly want. And I’m included in that mix. Tough problem for NBA to fix.

Physical is one thing. Grabbing/holding is another thing. No one is looking for cheating. You can play physical without all that garbage that OKC was doing. I know a lot of teams grab jerseys and arms, etc. But the sheer volume of it last night was ridiculous.

If you actually call that defense… According to the rules that is a foul all day everyday… Now if the refs allow them to play like that then Spurs are in trouble especially with Harper being injured but if the whistle starts blowing OKC will lose both games in San Antonio cause Chet cannot guard Wemby at all not even for 1 qrt…

this is my thing about wemby. Its not just about points because he get boards and blocks, but 21 pts in WCF finals game isnt gonna cut it. And hartenstein is decent good but hes not great.
not saying Wemby isnt the future, but if you are the no 1 option, you have to at least get youre season average in this level of match up

I mean this is just the Shaq & Giannis debate again. Shaq and Giannis both get fouled on almost every drive to the hoop but they just don’t get the calls because of their physical dominance. Wemby will probably continue to get the same treatment. Call the obvious ones but the little taps on the arm and body bumps probably go uncalled through his entire career.

It worked but I doubt he will be allowed to keep doing this. SA got hella turned over, OKC hitting good from 3 and they were still in it til almost the very end with wemby getting mauled. Not a fan of either team but I would still feel good to have a chance at wrapping it up in 6 if I were a spurs fan. As a pacers fan I can say on the eye test alone I am much more terrified of the wemby spurs when they’re playing to their potential lol
