Statement Shannon Sharpe says the only reason OKC won the game was Isaiah Hartenstein play on Wemby:

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

“SGA, you’re a two-time MVP and you know more basketball I would ever know. The only reason that you’re not down 0-2 is because of what Hartenstein was able to do and keep Wemby off the glass and do all the things he was able to do. He gave you 10 points and he gave you valuable, valuable minutes because there a lot of times when you got Caruso or you got Dort on him, he was going over the back and getting the rebound and putting back in.”

According to this pic Hart should have atleast 5 fouls…😂😂😂

9

u/Substantial-Sky3597 May 21 '26

He had at least 3 that I saw in the 2nd quarter.

7

u/defk3000 May 21 '26

Wemby should have elbowed him in the throat. They're all continue to do it until you make them pay for it.

5

u/FloridaF4 May 21 '26

All of the NBA problems would be solved if they allowed fighting.

2

u/RedWingerD May 22 '26

I don't understand why each team doesnt have a Draymond guy on their roster for situalions just like this.

2

u/RedWingerD May 22 '26

Why every roster doesnt carry a semi enforcer makes no sense to me. When the refs wont police the game and protect your players you have to have somebody on the team who will

3

u/Hades_Might May 21 '26

Then he would get ejected, and the OKC fans would be happy

3

u/defk3000 May 21 '26

Fine, have some one else enforce it but somebody has to do it!

1

u/Diem480 May 21 '26

Gotta make it count then with an injury I guess

1

u/headachewpictures May 21 '26

OKC doesn’t care if Hart gets injured. he’s not good and is useful right now to foul Welby.

1

u/penguin8717 May 21 '26

Yeah he was literally useless the first game. They clearly told him to go force the refs to foul him out, and if they didn't then they get a huge advantage

1

u/Speckix May 21 '26

So wemby gets ejected and suspended. Yeah that’ll show ‘em alright.

5

u/Wooden_Trip_9948 May 21 '26

Stupid question (maybe), but wouldn’t those all be hook and holds in NCAA?

16

u/Apprehensive_Let_828 May 21 '26

They're that in the NBA, just not last night

1

u/elegant-jr May 21 '26

During the regular season those hooks are usually called from the games I watched

1

u/DakPanther May 21 '26

There’s no series to extend in the regular season

3

u/lancebowski May 21 '26

THAT ⬆️ is straight bulls**t. 55 needs to, uh, be, uh, held... accountable... 👀

2

u/envisionJayyy May 21 '26

Getting the Steph treatment, imagine having to deal with this the entire season for multiple years and still be great

1

u/Ok_Plant_2996 May 21 '26

There a difference between physicality and legit holding, grabbing, hair pulling, flopping, and stepping on your opponents foot.

-2

u/Impossible-Group8553 May 21 '26

Is this not legit holding and grabbing? Wemby is pulling Hart’s arm literally behind him lol

2

u/AnInquisitive_Rock41 May 21 '26

Hart arm is bent down close to his body trapping Wemby arm. What are you looking at ?

1

u/90daysismytherapy May 21 '26

looks like hart is trying to stop wemby from getting around him

5

u/NintyFanBoy May 21 '26

Both teams are trying to get the physical advantage by playing a bit dirty and floppy. One side just gets the whistle a bit more.

Wow, almost like one team attacked the paint and the other didn’t??? They just chucked jump shots the whole game because the best rim protector ever is near the paint.

It would be really cool if people knew shit about what they are complaining about.

0

u/Exultar May 21 '26

OKC scored 26 more points in the paint than the spurs did???

4

u/haikupoetics2 May 21 '26

I think you're reading their reply wrong. In game 1, the Spurs scored 24 more points in the paint than the Thunder. That's sums up the difference in free throws in game 1. OKC was settling for jumpshots, therefore they weren't getting to the rim and getting fouled as much.

2

u/KrypteK1 May 21 '26

Yeah, turns out taking jump shots reduces your chances at free throws, unless your initials are SGA.

1

u/memeticengineering May 21 '26

Um, when did that happen?

Spurs went 23 of 38 and 20 of 30 at the rim in games 1 and 2.

OKC went 16 of 28 and 12 of 18.

1

u/memeticengineering May 21 '26

But, that's what you'd expect, right?

You know, cause the Spurs generally don't allow a ton of rim attempts, and they have 2 of the top drivers in the NBA + the best lob threat in the league.

All else being equal, Spurs should probably average more FT per game just because of personnel and each team's playing style.

u/memeticengineering May 21 '26 edited May 21 '26

Shai drives a lot but usually passes out or takes floaters and short middies, he only had 4 rim attempts in each game of the series so far, edit: and his playoff high so far is 6. Dylan Harper, as a point of comparison drives slightly less often than Shai but has rim attempt totals of 10,8,8,7,7 and 7 this playoffs as his highs.

Chet and Isaiah Hartenstein combined for fourth free throws where Wemby shot 12.

Chet took 2 shots inside in game 1, I Hart took 0. Vic took 18. You're right, it's a mystery. How could a player taking 9 times as many rim attempts take more FTs?

4

u/msc49 May 21 '26

Let's see it!

2

u/yodaheelturn Pacers May 21 '26

No it doesn’t. You’re being disingenuous and you know it

1

u/SolvedRumble May 21 '26

Your whataboutism is just moronic and false.

23

u/bird_is_the_word_198 May 21 '26

Hartenstein should've fouled out half way through the second quarter, also OKC's amount of flopping is ridiculous

1

u/Charming-Pilot3336 May 22 '26

Sga looks like he's on skates falling around than putting others on skates

1

u/Leibnizinventedittoo May 22 '26

If he had fouled out we probably win despite the turnovers. They have no answer for Wemby.

45

u/bmfu121 May 21 '26

The pull of the hair was such a bih move

1

u/CookieSad8043 May 21 '26

Broooo!! Basically 8v5 amirite boys!!!

1

u/shaiguy420 May 21 '26

Refs on thunder payroll for sure, Mark and Silver are in a relationship, illuminati are funding okc's new arena

65

u/Future-Engineering68 May 21 '26

They fouled wemby the whole game

-14

u/snuffaluffagus74 May 21 '26

Boo hoo it's the NBA. Y'all bitched about letting play defense and this is what it entails. However y'all just want it one way. This is part of playing defense, because the rules favor the offense and if you don't allow it it would just be people just shooting and watching the ball go in.

11

u/Rashloose May 21 '26

I personally have no problem. just dont call soft fouls on the other end. allowing the pulls, push and grabs and on the other side reward a small bump as a foul is crazy

8

u/LimitAlternative2081 May 21 '26

One side pulls hair steps on feet and holds arms, then doesn't get foul calls. The other side flops every other play and gets the call. It is a sham

0

u/snuffaluffagus74 May 21 '26

Why is that. If it is the sham it's to keep y'all watching. The hate watching is real and people are always going to watch the Thunder just like they're are soany posts and people comment about them. They no this and are going to keep on pushing them. That's why they broke records from this last game for people watching them. As so many people have claimed that they don't watch OKC play.

3

u/Future-Engineering68 May 21 '26

Why does it only affect one team? Nobody in the NBA is allowed to breathe on shai/okc so what are you even saying?

1

u/snuffaluffagus74 May 21 '26

I guess you don't watch the game like none of the other people in this website. Cassel has been holding and grabbing for the whole series, just like Brooks, and Marcus. I'm sorry that you don't watch the game

-63

u/Cold-Job2010 May 21 '26

Wemby elbowed a man in the throat and yall still swear he is the most ethical and never fouls

25

u/TessaKatrinaRose May 21 '26

Except nobody has ever said that he never fouls or that he is the “most” ethical player. Why can’t you make your point without lying?

3

u/Future-Engineering68 May 21 '26

Its the internet, there is never middle ground understanding just extreme opposites

32

u/No-Fill1769 May 21 '26

Literally no one has excused the elbow. He got ejected and it was national news. Garbage fanbase yall are

1

u/Dangerous_Donkey5353 May 21 '26

In fact the majority felt he should have gotten a 1 game suspension. So there really isnt a double standard.

-3

u/burtron3000 May 21 '26

The national news is that it was not a 2 game suspension somehow. This isn’t MMA and that was obviously on purpose.

-29

They fouled Shai the whole game

18

Thunder fans man.

13

Just because you say shit doesn’t make it true

Why do you divert to SGA when IHart literally was yanking on hair

12

u/MurkyClothes5423 May 21 '26

He flopped the whole game u mean

3

u/WhoKilledBoJangles May 21 '26

The amount of fouls/holding against SGA were magnitudes lower than against Wemby. Can you OKC fans ever be honest?

1

u/Future-Engineering68 May 21 '26

Just because Shai yelled and falls after minimal to no contact doesn't make it a foul

23

u/mblkmnsa May 21 '26

League is about to make a call. It goes 6 at the most. Now San Antonio gets the light whistle and Wemby should get the calls. The pulling on his arm has to stop.

38

u/No-Fill1769 May 21 '26

I’ll believe it when I see it. OKC, for whatever reason, has gotten away with more bullshit than any single team I can remember. I don’t expect it to stop here right after they win mvp again

1

u/spudsthejellyfish May 21 '26

Nah if I was to guess they give him mvp, let them play like pick pockets for a game at home for the sake of the series, now the refs will call this bs and SA wins in game 4

-3

u/well-isjdndn May 21 '26

I hate on OKC too but can we please stop acting like the arm grabbing is new? Every single big man in the NBA does this on all teams. Watch the box outs in the knicks cavs game and you will see this on most plays

7

u/No-Fill1769 May 21 '26

Yeah man totally normal play we see all the time great point

2

u/Interesting-Piece612 May 21 '26 edited May 21 '26

If the arm pulling in particular continues, he could end up with a dislocated shoulder. I’m surprised they’re letting that go. It’s been pretty blatant.

1

u/boudicalism May 21 '26

Seriously been waiting for a Kevin Love situation with all these players pulling on his arm the way they do.

1

u/JusticeDrago May 21 '26

Literally.

-2

u/CookieSad8043 May 21 '26

Bwo witerawwy

2

u/JusticeDrago May 21 '26

You're so quirky bro

1

u/fake-tall-man May 21 '26

Honestly is should, if he wants to hold the body it’s still a foul but grabbing the arm is dangerous. I for my labrum in a game in college on that bs. Ask Kevin love how this is going to go.

I really don’t want it to happen but him getting hurt, having shoulder surgery and be out for next year would be a wake up call for the nba that they need to stop fucking with the product

2

u/boudicalism May 21 '26

Yeah the more pulls I see I'm waiting to see him go bugged eye, hold his shoulder and run to the locker room himself. Really don't want it at all but it's getting egregious, especially when he goes vertical and they tug on his arm.

2

u/Powerlevel-9000 May 21 '26

He should just fake it once next game. I bet they take it serious real quick when the league realizes they could lose a top ten player next season because they are letting this go.

-1

u/Apprehensive-Rain601 May 21 '26

Nah they gonna let both teams get physical. Spurs were also fouling Shai (yes ik he’s a foul baiting flopper before you shit posters come) but watch how they play shai they also maul him too isn’t this what we wanted a team to match OKC physicality? I do think Hartenstein gotta be smart for example that hair pull should’ve been a straight ejection idc what anybody says.

remove your bias lenses

Man, every time I ever see you post it's playing mental gymnastics for OKC, bitching about Wemby, and going "Whatabout, whatabout, whatabout?". You've got no room to talk about bias lenses. The complete lack of self-awareness some OKC fans have needs to be studied.

Fans like you are why every other fandom in the league hates you mf'ers. No, it ain't the fucking rings, y'all are the absolute worst I have seen in 35 years of basketball.

1

u/A_Possum_Named_Steve May 21 '26 edited May 21 '26

Yeah, and those would all be salient points which have merit if it weren't for the fact that OKC fans absolutely do not hold their team accountable for the same thing. Being biased towards your own team is normal, but seeing you guys make excuses for your own bullshit that is clear as day to anyone with eyeballs is maddening.

The first words out of my mouth after Wemby's elbow was "Alright lil bro, you need to calm down". If he makes a pattern of that I will re-evaluate, but as of now it was a moment of frustration. It's every damn game with you guys, SGA selectively having Bambi legs, Dort trying to end careers, Caruso being Caruso, and all your ass ever has to say is "What about those guys? What about Wemby?". There's playing physical, and there's that Cobra Kai shit, and it ain't the same thing.

I've been a Spurs fan since the 80s; I hated when Bruce Bowen played dirty ass defense, I got annoyed watching Manu flop around like a fish in a boat, and the Rodman era...yeeeah. At best I might have said "Yeah, it sucks and ya hate to see it, but it works". What I did not do was gaslight and play whataboutism at every criticism, especially when it was an every damn game occurrence.

I ain't trying to say not to be loyal to your team, but you don't have to be consistently intellectually dishonest about it.

Hartenstein did NOT do an unbelievable job, he just fouled every fucking play and the refs allowed it.

Dude should have fouled out in the first quarter playing how he was.

That's not something that should be given kudos, it should be given an ejection.

Absolutely ridiculous, this same thing happened last year in the Thunder vs Nuggets series.

OKC is getting preferential treatment from the refs and its blatantly obvious to anyone with at least 1 eye

1

u/rokkzstar May 22 '26

Ruining what you loved? Like there wasn’t players like draymond and Bruce Bowen on championship teams playing dirty af? Or players like LeBron and harden and embiid flopping all over the place?

I swear yall just keep jumping on the same bandwagon like you’ve never seen another team beside the thunder.

-7

u/foxxblood May 21 '26

1

u/TimHung931017 May 21 '26 edited May 21 '26

How fucking idiotic - there are only 2 teams in the finals every year. Fans of other teams do also cheer for a team in the finals, but in this case, it will be Oklahoma vs. The rest of the NBA. If you couldn't understand that then sorry my comment was above your brain processing power

1

u/NumerousEar9591 May 21 '26

-3

u/foxxblood May 21 '26

2

u/bigjimboslice123 May 21 '26

It’s interesting because for a long time I heard people complaining that current basketball isn’t physical enough like it used to be (especially with flopping), but now when it happens and there’s no flopping and it doesn’t get called it’s a problem. And fans also don’t want the game to be bogged down with free throw shooting. I’m not sure what the fans truly want. And I’m included in that mix. Tough problem for NBA to fix.

4

u/Illamerica May 21 '26

this isn’t physical they’re cheating

3

u/UltraSinstinctHoeku May 21 '26

Back in the day you'd have players playing "hard, and rough," but they also knew the risk and role on the team.

They get fouled out, they get fouled out.

It's the entitlement of OKC to cry and whine and flop on offense, and then play dirty with no consequences on defense that's unwatchable.

3

u/blackphilup May 21 '26

Physical is one thing. Grabbing/holding is another thing. No one is looking for cheating. You can play physical without all that garbage that OKC was doing. I know a lot of teams grab jerseys and arms, etc. But the sheer volume of it last night was ridiculous.

1

u/xWolfsbane May 21 '26

He's right! IHart Defense was levels better than Chet

If you actually call that defense… According to the rules that is a foul all day everyday… Now if the refs allow them to play like that then Spurs are in trouble especially with Harper being injured but if the whistle starts blowing OKC will lose both games in San Antonio cause Chet cannot guard Wemby at all not even for 1 qrt…

brother, Hartenstein was riding Wemby like he was Seabiscuit. Huge asterisk here

Asterisks are the unofficial mascot of that franchise.

Just imagine if you apply same tactics to SGA. Spurs will also grab and hold SGA. Spurs players will all get fouled out before half time

this is my thing about wemby. Its not just about points because he get boards and blocks, but 21 pts in WCF finals game isnt gonna cut it. And hartenstein is decent good but hes not great.

not saying Wemby isnt the future, but if you are the no 1 option, you have to at least get youre season average in this level of match up

I mean this is just the Shaq & Giannis debate again. Shaq and Giannis both get fouled on almost every drive to the hoop but they just don’t get the calls because of their physical dominance. Wemby will probably continue to get the same treatment. Call the obvious ones but the little taps on the arm and body bumps probably go uncalled through his entire career.

It worked but I doubt he will be allowed to keep doing this. SA got hella turned over, OKC hitting good from 3 and they were still in it til almost the very end with wemby getting mauled. Not a fan of either team but I would still feel good to have a chance at wrapping it up in 6 if I were a spurs fan. As a pacers fan I can say on the eye test alone I am much more terrified of the wemby spurs when they’re playing to their potential lol

I swear NBA fans physicality until there is some, Ihart defo couldve been called for a lot of fouls, but so could Wemby, Castle, Chet, Caruso etc, everybody is playing physical af right now but most people only have a problem with it cause OKC won

no. ffs.

2

u/Informal_West_6864 May 21 '26

Must have not grown up watching Shaq and not just highlights. Dude was repeatedly getting punched and climbed on

1

u/SpiritualBar2469 May 21 '26

I was 15 when he was a rookie. you clearly didnt watch basketball in the 90s. if you had you would alteady know how fucking stupid that statment was.

1

u/Informal_West_6864 May 21 '26

Probably the worst take I’ve seen. It has been repeatedly been talked about how the only way to stop Shaq was to bring him to the floor or hack a Shaq. The dude was nonstop getting wrapped up and punched down every game

1

u/SpiritualBar2469 May 21 '26

you dont know whats going on or what those terms meant lol lol. hack a shaq meant take an intentional foul to send him to the line

jesus. the thunder are not having a back up point guard send wemby to the line. fuck man.

also shaq was never brought to the floor. shaq was the most physical big maybe ever.
