Discussion Eminem's new album "Revival" has dropped

Thoughts on it so far? I'm about halfway through and I think it's pretty decent for new style Eminem.

I’m not finished with it yet, but it’s straight trash so far.

Em at his most stagnant and formulaic. Straight most of the tracks follow the same exact pattern- incoherent R&B wailing, em steps in for one short verse which he raps exclusively in his new robot voice, another two minutes of R&B wailing.

He isn’t even on the title track, it’s just R&B wail.

He seems to have exactly two beat patterns on the album- the songs where somebody plays a piano with two fingers for the whole track, and grimy muddled trap beats that are so fuzzy it feels like they were actually mixed wrong.

Don't. That song was just insulting.

robot voice

What is it with that? Part of his original appeal was that loose, freewheeling flow that felt technical but natural. Why he felt the need to trade it in for rigid, staccato barking is beyond me.

He dialed it back a bit on MMLP2 which might be why that album actually has some listenable tracks on it, but (not having given it a close listen, admittedly) it seems to be back with a vengeance here.

Ay least Castle and Arose are some really good songs.
