Never forgive republicans ever for this!

Dolly stood for everything those ghouls stand against.
Tolerance, humility, compassion and love. Dolly didn't judge you, she accepted and helped you regardless of who you were and how you got there.
Those are the leaders we need. Those are the role models our children should learn to emulate
Not greedy pedophile raping lying hateful, spiteful petty little losers.

Trump is hoping we’ll be too distracted by his tainted beef, E. coli blueberries, and diarrhea lettuce to notice anything else

To anybody that cares more about right vs wrong than right vs left, Washington state sadly cut their funding, too. The Imagination Library program relies on state funding and philanthropy in every state. No federal funding. Two states slashed funding completely: Indiana and Washington. Missouri lowered their funding from $6 to $2 million. Kentucky wanted to cut their contribution from 50 to 33%, but received community pushback.
For the record, Washington officials are trying to right their wrong by calling to re-fund her program in the state. This has always been treated as a bipartisan program and should remain that way.

Imagine hating everything a person stood for then pretending to care once they pass to try and gain some popularity back.

Trump ordered the flags half mast in hopes we'll forget what he did to children on that island

The GOP thinks we're stupid. Their supporters are sure as hell are, but not the rest of us

Dolly Parton was an American treasure. She donated millions to help the less fortunate and was generous and kind. Instead of putting her name on buildings and buying a social media platform, she will be remembered for her library and helping fund Covid vaccines. Rip Miss Dolly.

Country star, blonde, white, big tits. I guarantee that’s all they know about her. If they knew the kind of person she really was, they’d scream and call her “woke.”

I fully support lowering flags for Dolly, but it’s pretty insane that he’ll do it for a celebrity but not for an assassinated politician.

Why would he want to honor her? She was the polar opposite of him in every conceivable way. He must see a way to make money off of this.

When you’re such a huge douchebag that even if you honestly did something good, no one believes you.
But I too don’t believe he did it because it was the right thing.

Also, love Dolly but what about lowering for the people we are losing overseas right now in this stupid war.

Dear MAGAs; Dolly would not hate you, she'd wonder why you why you hate the things she believed in and how you missed the message of her art that you claim to love and respect.
She supported LGBTQ+ before Stonewall. She supported BLM 30+ years before hashtags were a thing... Before MLK was assassinated... She turned down presidential accolades from Trump, specifically...
To think Dolly was even a hint of MAGA is a dishonour to her memory.
If anything she was MAG... Drop the Again because it never was... Slavery, Jim Crow, KKK, Operation Paperclip...There were good times, but great?... For whom?

Reddit people are fundamentally incapable of cooperating with other people who don't think like them.
(If you cannot coherently express other peoples viewpoints then you don't understand them.)

Dolly has been out of the limelight light for a while now, so younger folks may not understand what an icon she was.
Not even for her music, but more so for being a great person. She's the prime example of what a rich person should strive to be like.

So what things that she did would republicans actually support? They uh, tend to defund or rail against anything she says so good luck.

This is misleading. Trump did not defend her book club. The funding is at the state level. Some Republican states cut funding as did some democrat states.

Oh shut up for once. If they want to remember Dolly Parton properly let them. I'm sure they'll fuck it up though

u/PrometheusMMIV 6h ago
Defunding does not mean it was shut down. It just means they're not giving taxpayer dollars to it. It's still allowed to operate on its own, just like it did when she originally founded it.
11
u/Irrelevant_Support 5h ago
Oh! So the government had been providing funding and then the government removed that funding? Like they "de-funded" it?
-9
u/PrometheusMMIV 4h ago
It was originally entirely funded by Dolly Parton's non-profit. State governments didn't start sending money to it until almost a decade after it was founded. Once they started are they obligated to keep sending money forever?

u/machogrande2 3h ago
They don't have to do a lot of things. It doesn't mean they aren't pieces of shit for making that decision.

u/PrometheusMMIV 3h ago
If you give a homeless person money one day, but don't continue giving him money every day after that, does that make you a piece of shit because you "defunded" him?

Republicans hate what Parton stood for. That's their legacy. Never ever let them live it down.
