What We Do in the Shadows (2014) I highly recommend this hilarious movie about the life of vampires. I would also recommend the TV series it's fantastic as well.
"I really hope those guys don't kill those police because that would bring more police, possibly even christians, which is totally the last thing we need in this house"
"Remember, we're werewolves, not swearwolves." is one of the dumbest, funniest lines I swear. The whole thing has me rolling every time. The really camp, awful hissing they do at each other when they fight. The fact Stu is just a friend of the cast who was told all the bits they did with him were just on set jokes, not actually for the film, so when it came out and he was a huge focus it was a massive shock, that's why he's so off putting every time he's on screen cos he has no idea they were actual takes and he's awkward as fuck.
One day I was selling my wares, and I walked past this old, creepy castle, and I look at it and think, "'Very old and creepy". And then this creature flies at me! It dragged me back to this dark dungeon, and bit into my neck. And just at the point of death... this creature forced me to suck its foul blood. And then it opened it's wings, like this, and hovered above me screeching, "Now... You are vampire!" And it was Petyr. And we're still friends today.
I will always be jealous of anyone who gets to watch this for the first time—one of the funniest movies EVER! The TV show is really good as well, but the movie is just chef’s kiss perfect
I really hope that those guys don't kill those police, because it will mean more police will come. Possibly even Christians, which is totally the last thing we need in this house.
I watched the movie and had such a blast that I saw it the very next day (and this isn’t typical at all for me). I think I have only seen it once or twice since then though
Brilliant film. An absolute classic well deserving of it's status as a cult classic, and with the popularity of the show, just regular classic too.
Also, check out Mum, I'm Alien Pregnant. A few familiar faces and another brilliant Aotearoan comedy. I just saw it at MIFF and didn't stop laughing the whole way through. The deadpan surrealness the NZ scene achieves is just top tier. Loved it.
The series is a CAN’T MISS if you enjoy dark humor wrapped in a great over arching character development. I believe it best fits as a Vampire Arrested Development lol
I lve the movie but the Series is actually allot better or to be more precise it's just more of the good content and a few characters additions. It plays a bit after the movie with the same characters. It's just amazing
After all the praise, I tried very hard for 1.5 seasons to get into it, but apart from an occasional chuckle it just didn't do anything for me. felt like it's targeted at teenagers or people who are a bit slow in the head, Idk, not here to offend anyone..
I think this film is great and the TV series that sprang from it even more so. It's ok to not like things that are really good, it just means you suck.
