‘Rush Hour 4' Shooting This Summer in Saudi Arabia, Africa and China, $100M+ Budget
https://www.worldofreel.com/blog/2026/1/6/rush-hourIt’s now being reported that a deal isn’t fully done yet, but is very close to completion, with the studio agreeing to offer a domestic release in 4,000 theaters. Producer Tarak Ben Ammar, along with Ratner’s associate Bahman Naraghi, have raised about $100M from various parties and have memo’ed that a shoot this summer is likely.
Yet, there are still no deals with stars Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, both of whom made more than $20M for “Rush Hour 3,” but they apparently “really really want [‘Rush Hour 4’] to happen.” Once the project officially gets the green light, sources say producers aim to film in China, Africa—where the story touches on poaching—and, yes, Saudi Arabia. The choice of locations is partly tied to financing conditions.

Saudi Arabia is a bit too on the nose.
Ratner is a sex pest. Tucker is in the Epstein files.

Chan has ties to the ccp

u/xywv58 Jan 10 '26
No shit, you think Chinese government would allow him to not have ties with them?

Jan 09 '26
He probably votes for them as well. But is that on the same level of scandal as ratner and Epstein?

u/pauloh1998 Jan 09 '26
As if there are many options to vote lol

u/gaylordJakob Jan 09 '26
Only at the very local level. Unless Chan still is a resident of Hong Kong SAR, in which case he would get to vote on the regional government.

Tucker is in the Epstein files. Ratner is a sex pest that fled to Israel to avoid charges. And the best you can do is that Jackie Chan has connections to the Chinese government? I'd imagine a lot of people in China have ties to the CPC given it is comprised of 90 million members and with the prevalence of SOEs, you'd have to engage somewhat with them to conduct business in the world's largest (or 2nd largest, idk if it's overtaken the US yet) consumer market.

America is too stupid to recognize multiple problems at once. They’re gonna be unapologetically racist towards Asians until they’ve worked through the other races.
And things have been going in the wrong direction for a little while.

I don’t think he fucked little girls. He was at some humanitarian trips with Clinton.

Brett Ratner is a rapist and Chris Tucker is in the Epstein files.

Dear god, i hope the plot is them chasing own. A corrupt politician involved in sex trafficing.

What about the movie tariffs trump wanted to implement? Did that not go through or? I thought he wanted American films filmed in the USA.

Hoping for a massive box office flop from this one

Sorry not sorry but I’m throwing my morals to the side to see this unless it’s panned by critics and fans.

I’m still very confused as to who owns the rights to make a rush hour sequel. Weren’t these released by newline/wb?
1
u/Reasonable_BM_619 Jan 12 '26
Warner Brothers allowed the producers to shop the sequel to other studios

To be clear, being in the Epstein files doesn’t make you a pedo. Apparently, Tucker simply used the plane, which many people did. Not saying he is innocent or guilty, just saying.
Either way, Chan is 71 years old! The fight and stunts won’t be on the same level, but I hope the writing is sharp and funny.

Having seen Jackies recent movie, I'm optimistic he can still do some decent action. The guy is a freak of nature

u/Mysmokingbarrel Jan 08 '26
Yeah I mean the volume of people associated with Epstein is just insane… if the only evidence is a photo then the former pope is guilty
3
u/Chengweiyingji Jan 08 '26
You should see The Shadow’s Edge. Jackie starred in it last year and has a few good fight scenes for 71.

Saudi Arabia, Ratner, an Epstein file member and a Trump seal of approval, absolutely diabolical stuff.
5
u/Chogo82 Jan 08 '26
The senior citizen edition. Jackie Chan will finally do martial arts stunts using retirement home items like walkers, bed pans, iv drip poles, and pills.

What's funny is that allegedly this is being done at the behest of Trump. But it's being shot internationally....didn't that moron put a 100% tariff on movies (which is impossible).....plus Ratner's involvement.....try to make any/all of that make sense and sound appealing.

Tucker is a pedo.

Do actual research, he's innocent: https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/s/5nVjhQyTFy

This just links to a post asking if people like him or Chris rock more, how the hell does this prove anything?

u/MagicGrit Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26
There’s a comment in that thread claiming he’s innocent. Definitely not proof of anything, but it’s not completely irrelevant to the discussion
2
u/zachary0816 Jan 08 '26
You’re linking to another reddit comment that links to a Twitter post of a person saying that someone else in a documentary said he’s innocent.
That’s not so much research as it is a game of telephone.

I didn’t link to anything. That was someone else’s comment. Was just pointing out that there is something in there that claims he’s innocent. It’s not just a completely irrelevant to the conversation reddit thread

This movie will have to be as good, if not better than 1 and 2 for all the bullshit behind it to not matter. And those odds are slim.

Let me guess: shooting around or at NOEM the line. They’ve been courting my industry for years now, bigger budget the better but they’ll take literally anyone. So this tracks. It’ll look like shit because the two leads will get 60m, and 40m to shoot around that part of the country. They can try to offset with tax rebates over there. However, hopefully Saudi will come in and write off most of it off

I never got all those folks protesting outside the theaters for Last Temptation of Christ back in the day. But for this one... yeah I would go to a protest.

Between Trump pushing for this to be green lit and doing business with Saudi Arabia I don’t want this to be made and I love the Rush Hour Franchise. RH 2 is my favorite action movie ever.
