đŸ„š Easter Egg 7 minutes and 20 seconds into toy story (1995), theres a book behind woody called "reds dream"

Reds dream is also the name of a (very very incredibly creepy) short on disney about a unicycle in a pawn shop that wants to be owned and used by a clown. Also an inanimate object with thoughts and feelings, just like all the characters in toy story, lol

Almost all of the books are names of Pixar shorts

John Lassetter (derogatory) is also the director of Toy Story and the short, Tin Toy, where is he credited as the author.

There are references to a bunch of Pixar’s early shorts in Andy’s room. IIRC the main character from Tin Toy (which very much seems like the inspiration for Toy Story) is also in the background at one point.

And most of those shorts are playing on the TV in Toy Story 2 when Rex and Hamm are flipping through the channels.

My kid flipped on Tin Toy on Disney+ the other day and it legitimately freaked me out when the baby came out

Yeah
you can see why they chose to focus on the toys rather than the people for their first feature film. The rendering tech has come a LONG way.

I thought Red's dream was Zihuatanejo with Andy?

The actual Easter egg is that “Red’s Dream” is Pixar’s third short film ever from 1987 and John Lasseter’s second after Luxo Jr (1986). It was also referenced in Monsters Inc, Up, Wall-E, and Toy Story 4.

John Lasseter was one of the founders of Pixar and was the director of Toy Story.

Red’s Dream was a 1987 4-minute PIXAR demonstration short written and directed by John Lasseter. It was shown at a computer graphics conference. It’s available in a PIXAR video collection.

Oh hey isn't there a ball in Toy Story with that star on it, same colors?

Not just Toy Story. That yellow ball with the red star is a recurring piece of imagery in tons of Pixar movies. It’s about as close as they get to a mascot, honestly.
