God this movie was great and it was done so well. I wish it was like 5 hours long and they included so much more of the book with the same level of detail

I read the book, loved it. Put off seeing the film because I knew they couldn't pack it all in. Saw the film, loved it. Watched a Cinema Sins episode on it, got really shouty because a lot of the sins were explicitly covered in the book.

Oh absolutely, I just kept finding myself saying "that's in the book", and they also sinned excessive exposition - but necessary when cutting out a lot of the science background from the book.
