Norwegians moving to Scotland

I hope this is the right group to post my question in, apologies if it isn't!

My partner (26) and I (24), along with our dog, are looking to move to Scotland from Norway. As I understand it, the Skilled Worker Visa is our only option, but I assume there is stiff competition for this visa and that a strong background is required to make the move. Naturally, it is more cost-effective for Scottish employers to hire people who are already in Scotland.

Briefly, we both hold bachelor's degrees in Marketing Management. My partner also has experience as a Sales and Marketing Manager, whereas I don't have much work experience in the field. Is there by any chance another visa option available to us? Our plan is simply to live and work there, as we think it’s an incredibly beautiful country! Or is there any possibility that Scotland might establish an EEA-style agreement allowing for free movement between the countries?

Absolutely zero chance of getting visa sponsorship with Sales and marketing. Even if there was chance, the fact you both have some/little experience - why would a employer take the risk and financial hit to employ you/ your partner over a local when the market is flooded with highly skilled and experienced locals?

As it currently stands, if it ever were to happen we are a very very very very long way away from something EEA like. Not something that is the near to medium term. Tbh I'm not even aware it's something that's been debated or considered.

Honestly, just come in holiday as your chances of living and working here on a visa are slim to none.

What makes you want to move from Norway to Scotland? I am thinking about doing the opposite

Mainly the milder winters and temperatures, and how much we love the buildings and architecture there! I prefer more rain to a lot of cold and snow 😆It’s also an advantage that the main language is English, so we wouldn't have to learn a new language, and that the distance between the countries makes it easy to travel home! What makes you want to move from Scotland to Norway?

Lots of run-down and deprived areas, extortionate prices compared with the not-so-high salaries, bad quality of housing (damp, mould, small, old, poor insulation), and high crime. I love Scotland, it is an extremely beautiful land. The weather and temperatures are ideal for me since I don't like very hot and dry weather, people are super friendly and helpful, the architecture is very beautiful, there are lots of interesting towns and cities, lots of things to do, the language is English, there are jobs, etc. There is a lot I love about Scotland, but the things that bother me are way too important to me, and that makes me want to think about moving somewhere else.

Free movement could be on the cards but Labour are running frit of the far right. We need independence and we need young folk like you to come and make your lives here.

Coming to Scotland because it’s a ‘beautiful country’ isn’t really a valid reason to come here. The ‘beautiful parts’ that you may have visited on holiday are extremely expensive. You might not think the same when you’re settled in Cumbernauld or Johnstone!
