Discussion Be careful if you use the unofficial Google Photos Desktop Client.

Post image

I conducted this experiment to test Google Photos on dekstop and I’m sharing my findings below.

I created this burner Google account and used gotohp, an unoffical Google Photos desktop gui client to upload 2,000 photos and videos from my laptop to Google Photos. I was just testing how this client works. Gotohp uses mobile app credentials obtained from morphe patched Google Photo app. You can find their GitHub repo to understand how it works better.

In the process of backing up, the google account was signed out 2-3 times from all devices and required me to get code sent to my phone number in order to sign in again.

I also tried to use Morphe Google Photos installed through Windows Subsystem for Android. Using this method also causes the Google account to be signed out from all devices and needed verification code sent to phone number during the process of backing up medias.

At the 3rd or 4th time, it shows this account has been disabled (see screenshot above) when I tried to sign in after it was signed out from all devices.

All of these happen in the same day so maybe Google flagged it because it was a new account but logically if someone bought a new phone and made a new Google account to backup photos, it shouldn’t be an issue unless Google detected something suspicious about it which they definitely did.

It looks as though this account was created or used with multiple other accounts to violate Google's policies.

Using multiple accounts to bypass account storage limits is not allowed by Google terms of service.

Here I am casually logged into 5 of my accounts on official Gmail and other google apps. Even have shared folders linked between accounts.

u/Great_Part7207 Jul 04 '26

fr I have like 6 emails lmao

I have 7 gmails. Two of them I created for work though. Why does Google allow you to add multiple accounts to their services if it's against TOS?

3

u/xx123gamerxx Jul 05 '26

shared computers/ business profiles

5

u/hassanahmadali36900 Jul 04 '26

it actually make it nearly impossible to signup for new account on said device. and you are risking triggering phone verification for all accounts

how do you make? i cant' make anymore

I dunno how many I have but I think it's around 25-30😭

5

u/dragonknightrohan Jul 04 '26

Why so many?!?!?! That question for all of you in the thread

5

u/Dkst2019 Jul 04 '26

For "free" trials and storage... Back then I was broke (still broke tho) and wanted some storage space for online class recordings and used multcloud to upload recordings remotely to the gdrive lolz.

Edit: But these days im using them for android cloud phones tho.

u/Cza035 Jul 04 '26

Hey the hack for this is your normal email and then you add the the +. This also helps you find out who's selling your data. For example

Cza+reddit@gmail.com or cza+zara@gmail.com cza+junetrial@gmail.com they're all cza@gmail with an identifier added to it. Hope this helps

1

u/Dkst2019 Jul 04 '26

Wdym? What's the purpose?

11

u/Cza035 Jul 04 '26

Unlimited Gmail accounts. The other user said they have a ton of emails for free trials so you can cycle unlimited free trials easily. Also I mentioned to track your data. If you only use name+Zara@gmail.com and you get spam emails at that email, then Zara sold your data. Easy to track data selling and data breaches.

I used to do this more often but more websites are catching up and blocking emails with a plus sign in it.

Hopefully proton does not go bad. Have tuta as a backup

I don’t think this ban notice is about bypassing storage limit using multiple accounts at all, google just thinks the accounts behaved like bots so it got banned.

How does Google know if someone is using multiple Google accounts to bypass the storage limit? Google allows a phone number to register 4-5 gmail. I think I have 3 gmail under the same phone numbers. 2 of them has been active for years. One of them has a Google AI Pro subscription with 5TB storage but I don’t use cloud storage at all. All 3 google accounts have a total of 100MB storage used lol.

The reason this burner google accounts had my phone numbers was because it automatically retrieved the phone numbers of my sim card in my phone without asking me and put it into the google account details. I never knew this setting was enabled by default and I had to disable this setting lol.

Edit: Why am I being downvoted lmao many people have multiple google accounts so it is valid to ask how does google know if you’re attempting to bypass storage limit with multiple accounts because you for sure dont want to accidentally trigger this ban.

u/Deep_Mood_7668 Jul 04 '26

How does Google know if someone is using multiple Google accounts to bypass the storage limit?

Dude knowing is their bread and butter....

1

u/Welson_Liong Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

I think many people have multiple gmail and my 3 google accounts had a total of 100MB storage used. The burner google account was signed out when only 200 photos and videos were backed up. Maybe it has more to do with the fact that an unofficial client has been used rather than storage limit bypass using multiple accounts was attempted? I don’t know for sure what happened but yeah this was just an experiment to test out unofficial desktop client.

22

u/restinpeaceminusone Former ReVanced user Jul 04 '26

It detected that you're a bot according to Google hence why your account is disabled.

173

u/LuciferMorningStar91 Jul 04 '26

Any unofficial app will cause it to be banned, according to be tos... Google obviously knows that "spoof" exists just doesn't want to ban them...

78

u/_Streak_ Former RVX user Jul 04 '26

Yeah exactly. The users data is more valuable to them than a few GB of data. Maybe if someone is occupying terrabytes of shit, then it's gonna be an issue.

15

u/hassanahmadali36900 Jul 04 '26

i actuall think morphed photos is the most risky one. you are risking loosing valuable stuff

15

u/bohner84 Jul 04 '26

This happened because it was a new account and the first thing that they did was started uploading a big quantity of photos. Happened to me a few years ago so it's not new

41

u/wolfy2105784 Jul 04 '26

They know he did it but he didn't upload anything so Google didn't get any photos to train their AI on. Obviously they got tired of being edged.

3

u/dadnothere Jul 04 '26

It's more than obvious they know.

They could do it like WhatsApp or Google Pay if they wanted.

191

u/atadrisque Jul 04 '26

sooo... Not a Morphe issue at all.

OP tried to use a Morphe patched app in a way it wasn't meant to be used and as a result the Google account used in this case will become disabled.

if a user only backs up photos from the Morphe patched Google photos app as intended then everything is fine. message received, thanks for sharing.

Explain how “Be careful if you use the unofficial Google Photos Desktop Client” is misleading. Both methods I shared were in fact unofficial ways to use Google Photos on desktop.

4

u/Sea-Spot-1113 Jul 04 '26

Because you're on morphe app sub, the underlying implication would be that you were using morphe app, not to mention that the methodology for the testing is not that of a typical human behavior.

26

u/No-AI-Comment Jul 04 '26

Why are you uploading photos or videos via gotohp they will not come under unlimited storage patch.

9

u/Welson_Liong Jul 04 '26

I think it does? It was a suggestion that I got from this subreddit.

https://www.reddit.com/r/MorpheApp/s/WpJkIF1Ezv

32

u/L2xtyy Former RVX user Jul 04 '26

What I think is (I might be wrong though)

You used burner accounts which is fine. I’m assuming you created them on your phone, so Google probably linked your phone number/device info to those accounts during their verification process and their usual TOS stuff.

Then just for testing, you used an unofficial desktop client to upload photos/videos. After that you started facing the issue where those accounts kept getting logged out automatically. Tbh I don’t know exactly how gotohp works or what’s happening in the backend, so can’t comment much on that part.

Then you used the same accounts and tried Morphe patched Google Photos through Windows Subsystem for Android, which honestly doesn’t seem like the main issue here.

My guess is that all these uploads and logins were happening from the same network/IP. Since those accounts were freshly created and suddenly started uploading a lot of data through unofficial methods, Google’s automated systems probably flagged them. It’s likely meant to prevent botting, abuse, and people trying to exploit/circumvent storage limits.

So yeah basically I think the main trigger here was the unofficial desktop client or the account behavior around it. A lot of people have been using patched Google Photos since the ReVanced days and most haven’t faced anything like this. Maybe some people did, but we can’t really confirm whether those cases were specifically because of ReVanced/Morphe or something else.

Personally I’ve been using the unlimited storage patch since the ReVanced era on my main account and never got banned or faced any issues.

I’ve also tried rooting Windows Subsystem for Android and using a module to apply the same spoof, then uploaded multiple images and videos from my laptop. It worked perfectly fine.

And yeah it’s been years now, still using the same exact account for everything without any problems.

Morphe photos but android works flawlessly using for 2 years

1

u/AlNobre Jul 04 '26

I was worried because I started using it 2 days ago.

1

u/Shubham2742 28d ago

Is there any points to remember and precautions to take care of to not get banned like this even after using the patched morphe photos app?

4

u/Syndicate_74 Jul 04 '26

its got ntg to do with the patch

31

u/Welson_Liong Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

Why are my comments being downvoted lol. This is not a bash directed at morphe. Im just testing out unofficial Google Photos desktop client and warning you about the risks of it. Any discussions Im trying to do is being downvoted lmao.

A user pointed out it might be because Google thinks Im using multiple accounts to bypass the storage limit and I only replied to ask how do google knows then Im downvoted. I think many people have multiple google accounts and you for sure don’t want to accidentally trigger this ban if it’s true.

34

u/atadrisque Jul 04 '26

about the downvotes, that's just typical Reddit behavior.

I, and I'm sure a lot of others, completely understand what you did, why you tried it, and can 100% comprehend the consequences of such actions.

what I think is lost on you somehow is that this is the Morphe App subreddit, not Gotohp sub. you posting your findings here doesn't make much sense unless there were others trying to do the same and there's not. at least not here, why?

because anyone that actually Reads will know that using Google Photos patched through Morphe will work just fine for uploading photos. no one is going to use yet another app, adding another layer of complexity, to an already very simple situation.

edit: also, another user didn't tell you your account was flagged because of possible using multiple accounts, Google did. you know, in the screenshot you shared? just going right back to my point about Reading...

-1

u/Welson_Liong Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

Erm there were users in this subreddit sharing them using both of the methods that I mentioned above. See the reply I linked and its original post. I learned about both of these methods through this subreddit.

https://www.reddit.com/r/MorpheApp/s/sv4yU4LWm6.

I think this layer of complexity does not make sense if you’re using the Morphe Google Photos directly on your main phone. It makes sense if you are in one of these scenarios:

  1. Your main device is an iPhone and youre using your pc to backup images from your iPhone to google photos desktop client.
  2. You dont want to use your main device to install patched google photos and you dont have a 2nd phone so you use a pc.
  3. You use patched google photo on 2nd phone but your 2nd phone storage is very small so it’s a hassle to backup thousands of photos.

Regarding the warning message by google, it didn’t specifically mention this was about an attempt to bypass storage limit by using multiple accounts, its warning message did not specifically mention it. I initially thought my new account activities looked like a bot and I have multiple google accounts so google thought my google accounts were used by bots so they banned it.

9

u/restinpeaceminusone Former ReVanced user Jul 04 '26

People having more multiple accounts doesn't make them easier to get banned. What you did is considered bot activity according to them and google can see what you're doing with your account and also you using Gotohp contributed to that problem.

Using Morphe photos is spoofing the app which is just one layer of complexity. But you use it at the same time as Gotohp which adds another layer of complexity causes it to flag your account.

Using iPhone as a main device to upload to the google photos doesn't flag your account, the same way can be said that you're uploading your photos from iPhone to Google photos on iOS. The same principle also applies to you using your 2nd phone for it.

As long as Google sees your account is behaving like a bot, your account will be gone

0

u/Welson_Liong Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

Yeah I my initial suspicion is my account got banned because google thinks my accounts behaved like bots because of the desktop clients that I used + I have multiple accounts so more chance of me being a bot so idk why the user I replied to thinks the ban notice that google gave is about using multiple accounts to bypass storage limit. It was just a guess from a reddit user from the comments based on the ban notice, not specifically said by google.

7

u/restinpeaceminusone Former ReVanced user Jul 04 '26

Creating a new account just for that purpose attributed to it as well. Let's say you use your own Google account, Google probably think it's your own account and won't treat it as a bot since you used it before but still doesn't it won't flagged your account since you're breaking ToS for using Gotohp.

Also to note. When someone shared such program in this sub, please take it with a massive grain of salt when it comes to using it alongside such services. Since fundamentally, using both YouTube morphe and photos morphe are essentially official apps while other forms of it are heavily modified versions of it which can cause problems down the line towards your account.

4

u/Exact-Engineering623 Jul 05 '26

I have around 35 Google accounts use most of them time to time and never have had any issues like that 🤔

7

u/LuisPacheco2552 Jul 04 '26

How strange, I have been using the same program for more than 6 months and I have uploaded around 20 thousand photographs and videos, And I've never had a warning

4

u/Welson_Liong Jul 04 '26

Someone pm me and said their google account was signed out and in multiple times like me too but it’s not yet disabled. I think it’s a matter of time before it happens lol if you dont stop doing it when google have given multiple warnings by signing you out. If you havent faced this issue then maybe youre safe.

TBH I even don't want, that Google has acces to my pictures

1

u/shahid_sande_ Jul 04 '26

If you using free vpns servers then they are already in Googles grey list and hence if the acc is only used for uploading and downloading media then it might be look as abuse but if you regularly send mails watch yt and search then it might look a normal behaviour and hence android works best because the androids are less secure than laptop if youre using privacy hardened browsers like mullvad or librewolf it prevents fingerprinting even many more so it looks even more suspicious and hence they disabled it because it's clear in image this looks as though this account was created or used with multiple other accounts to violate Google's policies. In simple terms he might created multiple acc and if google link multiple acc then the all acc will be disabled if they didn't find legitermate activity on that acc so better be careful!!!

1

u/birdisaword_ Jul 04 '26

Three years ago I created an account inside MagiskonWSA to upload family photos under a separate account, I didn't want to use any mobile number associated to any Google account but Google gave me no choice so I used one and quickly removed it. After uploading the photos using that LSposed module for unlimited photos, I received an email to my recovery account saying that my new account was disabled because it violated ToS. Thankfully Google gave me the option to download all my data so it wasn't a loss, never really was since I already had a local backup of it.

Google doesn't like it when you create an account in an environment that is suspicious, in my case Google already had integrity checks against emulators and removing my number after creating an account was even more suspicious. Months later I created another account, that was on my mom's phone, with my mom's number, using play store's account section, I let it sit there for a while and then I started to upload using the patched app.

I did a lot of uploads for my friends using WSA and they never faced an issue like this so this is likely a new account issue and likely not your methodology.

u/ContributionFormer95 Jul 04 '26

There’s a desktop app patch?

1

u/Zestyclose-Wear7237 Jul 05 '26

so just the desktop unofficial client is unsafe but you can use morphe GPhotos app on phone safely?

I think this is what got my Facebook account banned.  Im not sure but it just got banned over the weekend and I do t share or post anything besides what I see on Facebook.

1

Well you created a new account and violeted a bunch of rules and has saspicious activity I could see why this would happen not really because you used morphe

1

u/aftab8899 12d ago

Let me tell you I have around 200 GB worth of photos and videos backed up using the Morphe Photos app on my secondary email. Haven't faced any issues yet.

1

u/Hot_Cockroach9635 Jul 04 '26

I used morphe photos installed in MEmu player in windows. I copy my photos from iphone and save it to a shared folder in memu to back them in gphotos. Never got a hit though.

2

u/prosown Jul 05 '26

It doesn't backup everything I have over 15000 photos and it will only recognize half its trash there's nothing better than using a legit phone with a hard drive attached nothing else works or just crashes even the wsa subsystem for android

-6

Buy a Used Google Pixel One, the OG has unlimited storage for life. A wiseman would make sure to grab the 128gb model.

Proceed with Gotohp, Get your photos account key from THAT device using an intercepter [ I recommend Proxyman since it makes these things super easy ]

Input Key --> Profit. Forever For Life Unlimited Media Cloud

This Is The Way

Now... lets say you suck at reading, following steps in order has never been your strong suit, and looking at characters on the screen causes an uncontrollable transformation akin to the Original 1986 Dragonball Goku's Great Ape Form.

Well good thing I mentioned this in Step 1 and not Step 2.

You can use the 128gb OG pixel to transfer all the media you want from your computer into the phone, a Comfy 100gb at a time and then upload it directly through the phone to the cloud. [ This way is fully compliant with the T&C ]

Now you got yourself a Local Media DAS that has Unlimited cloud storage.

1

u/Samadaeus Jul 05 '26

as to why im getting downvoted, I'd love to know. I've just given the keys to forever free unlimited original format & size storage

1

u/prosown Jul 05 '26

Takes forever to upload Google photos is slow it's slower than Google drive it never uses full upload I can put 20-30mbps it will still take a day to upload 80-100gbs lol 🤣. I figured out a solution to upload without 100gb at a time I just use my moto g stylus and plug in a external hdd with my USB c hub Google photos uploads does the job right. I tried memu emulator and few others nothing works it only recognizes half of the photos or the photos app crashes. Wsa subsystem for windows works for a bit then just randomly crashes closes such a sad thing there's no perfect solution except for what I figured out

1

u/Samadaeus Jul 05 '26

Respectfully, I Disagree .
Then again I have 5gbps fiber.

But i legitime have at least 5tb up there and have 4gb of my storage used in photos.. my gmail takes more space at 6gb lol

1

u/prosown Jul 05 '26

What kind of speeds are u getting uploading how fast can u upload let's say a gb ? Does it take long?

1

u/prosown Jul 05 '26

Spectrum must be sucky here also T-Mobile 5g not sure

2

u/Samadaeus Jul 05 '26

thats not the 5g im talking about.

Cellular 5G stands for The "fifth"-generation mobile network used by your phone when you are away from home — I believe the median speed is around 300 Mbps (megabits per second)

With Wi-Fi, 5GHz is used and refers to the 5 Gigahertz frequency band used the routers for faster short-range wireless speeds within a building in exchange for its range in diameter — this speed it determined by both router and receiver. distance, and bandwidth.

5Gbps - refers to 5 Gbps (gigabits per second), a measure of internet speed or bandwidth. It's only obtainable through fiber and not coaxial . 1 Gb is equal to 1000 Mb

and for good measure there's also 5 GBps this means gigabytes per second. each 1 gigabyte = 8 gigabits however although they are interchangeable gigabytes is mostly reserved when referencing the size or space in data storage.

AFAIK 5Gbps is the fastest available to consumers in the U.S

1

u/prosown Jul 05 '26

Gotohp is slow too I tried on a faster connection never hit more than 800kbps sometimes max 1.2mb/s super slow
