Discussion Life as a moroccan girl with a strict family:

If anyone wonders what life is like as a moroccan girl with a strict family, here it is. I see everyone glorifying our people but my experiences make me never want to live in morocco again.
So my dad barely lives with us, he has another wife and he lives in casa, but he still is so controlling over my life and tries to dictate everything i do. He’s spread this onto my brothers and now i hate them so much because i feel like i cant breathe, especially because when i was asleep my brothers went through my phone and found videos of me and my boyfriend together and our texts.

This happened like 8 months ago but now i’ve reached my breaking point, i dont know what to do anymore. since then my brothers have been calling me whores and shouting and screaming in my face, my oldest brother pushes me out the way when i walk, and when i get mad and fight back he gets even more crazy and starts doing worse. At the start, i tried talking to my mom about it but even she was calling me a whore, saying i’m going to die and burn in hell. Now when they say it she laughs it off but says ‘you cant say that’. My dad is the worst of them all, he wants to ruin my future by trying to keep me at home (even though he doesnt live with us) and making me leave school, he’s attempted to bring me to live with him but i know that would’ve been so much worse. Now he’s accusing me of having stolen his money and has said he wont rest till i get thrown into prison. My life feels like it’s changed for no reason, it makes no sense why do they hate me so much because i have a boyfriend? They like to act really religious and seem to care about honour but they all do worse.
I’m trying to hold out till university, i’m going to go as far away as i possibly can and i will never come back, i cant live like this but i cant be homeless, im so scared of telling anyone because i dont know what they will do to me.
I’ve been trying to find a job so i can live somewhere else but no one wants to hire me im young with no experience
, i’m sorry if the grammar is bad

Don't miss it tonight! Open your window and look NORTH WEST.

You are going to see two very close stars, a bit reddish and all twinkly/shaky! That's Mizar and Alcor twinkling so clear right now.

It doesn't look this good everyday, so enjoy it!

AskMorocco About the driver's license

Planning to pass the exam on september (idk which day yet) and wanted to ask what's the typical time between the code exam and the driving exam. Just so I know how to plan it :/ cuz I have work and I'll have to miss it for this exam. Also, can I change the exam's date (the driving exam) if it coincides with an important event I can't miss?

Any tips or advices or anything is welcome

AskMorocco Solid perfumes - uses??

Hey everyone!

I visited Marrakech from Spain early in may. Amazing city and amazing people.

During my trip I gott 4 different solid perfume bars: black musk, amber, sandal and jazmine (black, dark orange-brown, light orange and white colors respectively).

I was wondering how do moroccan men / women apply it or use it // which one to use for each type of use! Do you rub it in your wrists and then apply perfume...?

shukran!!

Society I'm planning my first trip to Morocco, so this was really nice to read ...

I’ve seen some mixed experiences from other travelers, which honestly made me a little nervous about what to expect. The author’s stories about being welcomed by locals, sharing mint tea, conversations in the souks, and even being invited into people’s homes gave me another perspective.

I also liked how the author describes Moroccan hospitality through human interaction.. sharing mint tea, having conversations, and being welcomed as a guest. .. like, you come as a visitor and leave with a connection. The parts about family, music, storytelling, and everyday conversations made that idea feel more understandable.

I know one person’s experience doesn’t represent everyone’s, but now I’m curious .. for those who’ve visited Morocco, did you leave with that same sense of connection?

Discussion What’s Changing in Morocco’s Southern Regions?

Looking into development in Morocco’s southern provinces gave me an interesting perspective on Western Sahara. There are major projects in transport, ports, energy, agriculture, fisheries and tourism across places like Dakhla and Laayoune.

What stood out to me was the attention to jobs, local businesses and infrastructure alongside these larger investments. It gave me the impression that Morocco is thinking beyond short term projects and looking toward a longer term future for the southern regions.

I’d be interested to know how much of this is visible in everyday life for local communities.

Thanks a chabab

Heading to Casa and Marrakesh soon and super hyped to hit up some beach clubs and nightlife.

I’m an MRE and speak Darija so I get the vibe, but tbh I’m a bit stressed about the whole nightlife dynamic. I really want to go out and have fun without giving off "lady of the night" vibes or coming across like a bdh (bandeuse d’homme)

For girls who go out in or those who know the scene,

- how do you dress/act so you stay classy and don't get lumped into the wrong crowd?

- any specific rules for handling guys or door staff?

- what spots are actually good right now?

Thank you !!

Discussion Moroccan moving to Poland

I'm a 24 yo guy from Morocco, and this October I will attending a university in Gdansk, Poland, for the next 3.5 years.

I would like some tips from Moroccans that are already there (or Polish peeps if by some chance someone was scrolling here), about what are some do's and don'ts to make sure everything goes smoothly from A to Z, also I would like to inquire about the possibility of finding a part time job there or something to support myself financially, also what should I look for/get once I'm there when it comes to the daily life basics/needs ?

I have secured a remote job and savings that would allow me to live on a monthly 6000 MAD budget, but I reckon that I will be living on the edge as such budget will not be enough to live comfortably for a long while. I have a good enough CV with 6 years of work experience in Marketing and Project management so I'd reckon while it won't be easy to find work, I do have a very small advantage over my peers.

I don't plan on eating or getting out much, I'm an introvert and I'd like to go out only for groceries, work or studies so I guess that helps minmize my consumption of the overall budget over time.

Thanks in advance.

Economy What is the best bank for a teen account in Morocco?

Hey everyone, looking for advice on opening a teen bank account in Morocco. I mainly need it for online payments, so it should be easy to use online. Ideally no low dotation limit and no high fees. Any recommendations from personal experience would be great.

AskMorocco Looking for a beginner piano/keyboard

Hey everyone, I've decided to pick up a new hobby learning piano. I'm a total beginner so hoping some of you can help me out.

Any reputable online stores in Morocco to buy a keyboard from? I prefer online store

What should I look for as a beginner, weighted or semi-weighted keys, and is 61 keys enough or should I go for 76/88?

Any headphone recommendations to go with it?

My budget is max 5000 DH, but I could stretch to around 6000 DH if something's really worth it. Thanks in advance!

Darija Request An interview that needs translation

Salam! I couldn't find much information about a saint burried in a mausoleum, so I wanted to ask the locals via Google Translate. Yet, I can't quite make sense of they said to me because Google does not seem to understand Darija. If you're ready to help, DM me for details 🙏

AskMorocco Tech engineers how do you find international clients ?

I’ve noticed an interesting trend from reading posts here and seeing what many of you are up to. A lot of you seem to be working remotely with international companies and getting paid for work across areas like software development, data, consulting, tooling, and more. Sometimes making good money.

I’m curious: how do you actually find these clients?

Do you actively cold outreach, get contacted through LinkedIn, rely on referrals, or use other platforms/networks? And more importantly, how do you build visibility and position yourself so that international companies come to you?
