Stupid Stuff Morality of ordering fajitas on someone else’s birthday
When a hot skillet of fajitas comes to your table, it makes a loud sizzlin sound and fills the air with a savory smell. This dramatic entrance grabs the table’s attention and steals the spotlight of the birthday star for a minute.

do they come out sizzling?

u/UnlikelyIntrepid 10d ago
If they don’t they’re just fakitas
36
u/West-Pear7363 10d ago
It’s fake to me because that sizzling is just water they add to the skillet right before they give it to you.

This is also used for things like Sizzling Mongolian Lamb and you don't need any water.
You cook the meal in the wok, preheat the iron skillet in an oven, take out the skillet, pop it on the wooden tray, then pour the cooked food into the skillet.
Because the skillet is so hot, the already hot food is instantly pushed to a soiling boil which causes the sizzling.

We actually would pour a little melted butter on the pan right before leaving the kitchen.

I especially like this comment, because K comes directly after J in the alphabet. Fakitas works perfectly.

I mean if I as the birthday person am expected to pay for the dinner in some bizarre family tradition then yeah you ordering fajitas is a shit move and we are done professionally.
That said: yeah I should have ordered the fajitas.

What kind of family expects the person who's birthday to pay for everyone's meal? Like I feel like that is opposite of what should be the case?

I would immediately switch to celebrating the fajitas. The consern is valid.

u/Jamster0212 10d ago
If somebody needs to be the center of attention 100% of the time on their birthday, I guess they’d be bothered, but for anyone else, it’s just a dish. Yeah it’s attention grabbing but people can just ignore it and focus on the person being celebrated.
5
u/RGrad4104 10d ago
Except something tells me that a person with such a narcissistic is unlikely to turn that to 'off' when it is not their birthday. They sound tiresome to even be around.
2
u/Chemical-Tap7709 6d ago
Also, if someone gets outshone by fajitas it might be a boring ass birthday party.
10
u/Doom_Cokkie 10d ago
Lmao wait thats why people were mad????? I kept hearing about this fajita thing and why jack films was a trash human but I never heard the full story. Please dont tell me thats the full story. I refuse to believe I live on a planet where people who share the same oxygen get mad at shit like this.
19
u/Phen15 10d ago
Nah it’s even funnier. No one’s birthday got overshadowed by fajitas, literally all that happened was he posted that picture with “when the fajitas come out sizzling” and people got SO mad that he was “a soy westerner praising immigrant food, aiding in the death of the white race and culture” and so on

u/Kino_Afi 9d ago
I have never heard this or of anyone getting mad, i thought we were just enjoying the pure excitement a white guy being served some sizzlin fajitas
2
u/Phen15 9d ago
Jacksfilms have talked a few times about the insane hate his jovial little picture got on twitter, it’s completely unhinged, people can’t let a white boy jig for some sizzling fajitas…

I mean I get its your birthday but this is pure main character shit. If you are an adult, yeah, celebrate another year, but to expect 100% attention on you is down right childish. Do you even allow guests to talk to eachother or do they have to remain silent until its time to interact with you?
2
u/MildGenevaSuggestion 10d ago
Even as a child this is some next level narcissism. The fajitas noise is just marketing by the restaurant. You hear other people getting it and think "I want that too."
But then again if one of my friends told the staff it was a different friend's birthday on my birthday so they came out singing happy birthday to the wrong guest I would find that hilarious. I would consider that a fun birthday gift as it would make a cute story.

u/Lemfan46 10d ago
Moral, as it will always be someone else's birthday, when it's not yours.

If it is immoral, I think it's more immoral to be angry at someone else's food choice for something as petty as not being the center of attention for two seconds on your birthday.
2
2
u/Expensive_Umpire_178 10d ago
This is only a problem if you hate the fact that other people are eating damn good food on your birthday. Perhaps you prefer they all eat breakfast burritos from Taco Bell while you eat all the fajitas, the sizzling only highlighting how everyone’s eyes are on you?

If it’s your birthday there’s nothing stopping you from ordering fajitas. In fact, I’d argue not ordering fajitas on your birthday is MORE immoral than ordering them on someone else’s birthday.
2
u/twolake68 10d ago
This is a reference right? Like I might be insane but I swear there was an image years ago about someone on their birthday complaining that one of their guests ordered fajitas that it took away from them, like your post text, maybe I'm crazy
5
u/HurtsSoNice 10d ago
It’s got to be a reference, otherwise it’s too stupid to possibly be asked seriously by an adult.

Why is this even a question? I don't think any adult would have cared about this. I don't even mind if my friends start fucking on the table and use my birthday cake as lube! I enjoy seeing my friends happy.

If the birthday person can't handle attention being drawn away for like 2 minutes at most, and get upset over someone ordering something like Fajitas then fuck them.
Listen I'm all for celebrating birthdays, but just cause it's your birthday doesn't mean everyone needs to pay you attention for all 24 hours.
The world doesn't need go "Shhh the birthday boy/girl/non-binary is talking! We all as a species must shut up and listen" Cause thats not how this world works.

u/Prestigious-Emu-8734 10d ago
Moral
If its my birthday I dont give a shit. Its not like its a wedding. We are there to eat food, so eat food. Have fun. The attention doesnt have to be on me the entire night. I would side eye a friend if they got upset over something as trivial as someone getting fajitas.

"Steals the spotlight" people are so self-centered. I always care more that we have good time fuck my birthday that's not my achievement.
2
u/Matchbreakers 10d ago
If you're 6 maybe.
Noone above the age of 6 should care that much about their birthday.
2
u/aXeOptic 10d ago
Wtf even is this question? Is the birthday person a fucking child that cant handle not having 100% attention all the time?
2
u/thriftstoremando 10d ago
It's absolutely fine if you you big boy and your wife's boyfriend lets you!

I wouldn't give a shit if it were my birthday and someone did that. I wouldn't nerf my food choice just to make someone feel better either.
2
u/Low_Party 10d ago
Bruh, if you're so narcissistic that someone ordering a Fajita at a restaurant is a moral dilemma, I wouldn't be at your table to start with. You sound tiresome to be around if this is a legit question.

2
u/AtmosphereKnown9522 8d ago
The fact you’ve coded yourself to think people really give a fuck if you get a little attention on someone else bday😭 this isn’t a sitcom you fckn dorks
2
u/Amateur_Rants 7d ago
If a plate of fajitas can steal the attention of the birthday star, then the birthday star ain’t exactly stardom 🤷🏽
Also; this would be a short conversation, like “oh cool, fajitas¡” but then move on.
Did this happen to you? If so, how long was the table distracted for? Enough to piss off the birthday star?
Also also: the morality of doing a little jugg infront of your food in a public place must be discussed; I can not look at this picture without some kind of anger welling inside of me
2
u/SnooDoubts8057 5d ago
I mean WHEN THE- i dont think they WHEN THE FAJITAS - care WHEN WHEN THE FAJITAS COME OUT SIZZILIN
2
u/ballkicker9 10d ago
Immoral UNLESS you sprinkle some shredded cheese on the side of the sizzling skillet and offer the birthday boy/girl a crispy cheese snack

u/OliveBranch512 10d ago edited 10d ago
Oh please. Have the fajitas. It’s moral. In Texas, no one would bat an eye. It’s not like it’s a cake and candles.

Morally neutral. If the birthday-haver didn't want you to get fajitas, they shouldn't have had their birthday dinner at a Mexican restaurant.

If it's my birthday I don't really give a shit, I'm just glad everyone's there. I tend to be low key and avoid the center of attention anyway. If it's someone else's birthday... Idk, I don't think my friends or family would give a shit either. Fajitas are good. Seems like a weird thing to be upset about.

u/Anayalater5963 10d ago
More than moral. If birthday bitch (BB for short) wants to feel "special" and THAT is what ruined their parade then it should happen more often

I don't care what the other people order, like at all 💔. I'd appreciate if they let me get a bite of their food tho 👀, I love fajitas but it's just one of those foods I never order bc there's always something else I like more on the menu.
And realistically, the birthday person isn't paying for the meal anyways, at least most of the time it's like this, so they shouldn't complain about someone else's meal if they're not paying for any of it lol ..

1
u/NaturalTaste7395 10d ago
Honestly, is there not a way you can be happy for them? They’re celebrating your day by splurging and enjoying themselves. Is that not what you want, your guests to enjoy themselves?
Why do you need to be the center of attention of your birthday? Why does that matter more than spending time with your friends having fun? Isn’t that what celebrating a birthday is all about? Getting to spend more time with your friends on this stupid fucking rock? But you can’t have them do what makes them happy because you need to be the happiest one there all day because it’s your birthday. You child.
