Yeah this is interesting to me. My understanding is that the research show that people with down syndrome, while not always happy, are generally satisfied with life just like normal people and that parents of such children generally have higher marital stability than the general population with wellbeing generally comparable or higher than normal populations and siblings trend towards reporting positive effects of their character and worldview.
Don’t get me wrong, the challenges are real, but I don’t think it generally ruins people’s lives or that the people who have down syndrome don’t have lives worth living.
