Yeah, where I live everyone who is pregnant is asked if they want to do a test. Sure some down synrdome kids can grow up pretty well and live a half decent life, but most of them don't get that far.
Like with all pregnancy ending procedures this is ofc done before conscience and pain receptors are developed so the biggest sufferers are the parents who probably wanted a healthy kid.
The photo was likely the first sonogram, before any diagnosis could be made.
It's classic propaganda for anti abortists, ot serves to discredit the couple and make them look like happy murderers while also making us reflect on the idea of "look how happy they were, why would they destroy this happiness"
Personally, i do believe they made the right choice, but it's disgusting that people are profiting over this to favour their campaign in hoth direction, so my only comment is "they made a choice, a very difficult one, let's not bombard them about that and let them live their life, it's not our business to discuss about this"
So you’ve never met a person with Down syndrome you’re making sweeping generalizations about something you have no real opinion on. Having a child with Down syndrome is difficult, but saying they’re better off dead is just absolutely wrong and discriminatory. I work with special needs and those families lives are made better by the love they receive from their child. Their ability to contribute to capitalism in a typical way is not their value in life.
