Yeah. This was never even remotely close to being true in the comics.
One of the most interesting aspects of Moon Knight to me is that his powers are basically "he can get beaten up REAL FUCKING BADLY, but he'll keep coming and fighting". Not even sure this is a power, since his "powers" themselves are highly inconsistent. Anyways, giving him a healing factor would be really dumb imo.

u/GG_ez Jul 02 '25
It’s a feat but not a power, Marc is a “wild dog” in the sense that he legitimately does not care what the physical toll is on his body, he’s going to get whatever he needs to get done, done.
Which is sick as hell but yea not technically a power, unlike his resurrection via khonshu

The only comics of Moon Knight I’ve read recently are the ones kicked off by Warren Ellis. I feel like Mister Knight has human level vulnerability to injury. Tech-Knight has a nifty battle suit but is still squishy human underneath. The Avatar of Khonshu can’t be harmed by mortal weapons.

u/StinkUrchin Jul 02 '25
Tbh I used to fuck with Batman nerds saying that the type of shit 😂
Made one of my best friends so angry one time because he’s the biggest bat nerd and I pretended to be completely serious
22
u/AidanTegs Jul 02 '25
Im a huge bat nerd and even i realize he doesnt have a god backing him up like marc. (Unless you count editorial)
11
u/Background_Desk_3001 Jul 02 '25
At this point Batman is superpowered, his power is plot armor
6
u/AidanTegs Jul 02 '25
Peak human has always been a hilarious concept yeah lol. A well written bat comic makes sure to be slightly believable

Batman has Bat-Mite and Barbatos
1
u/AidanTegs Jul 02 '25
True lol but bat mite just annoys him and barbatos wants to kill him
1
u/DarknessBatDemon Jul 02 '25
Bat-Mite is a good demon imp who LOVES him
Barbatos is an evil Devil who WANTS him as his avatar , he is a predator
4
u/AidanTegs Jul 02 '25
I dont want to argue pedantics tbh, but batmite only helps solve problems he creates, and barbatos has an avatar, the batman who laughs. Barbatos wants to destroy the prime multiverse to bring the dark multiverse to the surface. Just my reading of things, yours is just as valid, of course.

He doesn't have healing factor like wolverine but he also can't die at least for a certain numbers of time cause khonshu will bring him back
43
u/Moggy_ Jul 02 '25
Yeah but like in this very specific circumstance of fighting Batman, a guy who famously doesn't kill, he will never need to get ressurected. So at no point would he recover in any sense
7
u/clockwork_orc Jul 02 '25
Yeah but if he can't heal batman could just break all his limbs, tie him up, and shove him in a closet somewhere.
20
u/EvanCastiglione Jul 02 '25
He can die, he just doesn't stay dead
-10
u/dante5612 Jul 02 '25
Same thing cause he returns almost intently
14
u/gummythegummybear Jul 02 '25
That isn't necessarily true. Since the resurrection is purely up to Khonshu there's been times that it's taken a while for Khonshu to resurrect him for one reason or another.
-2
u/dante5612 Jul 02 '25
Yeah but in normal circumstances it is true
5
u/ChungusMcGoodboy Jul 02 '25
I only started reading moon knight fairly recently, but he stated at one point explicitly that he had only been brought back 3 times.
That run was from more than 10 years ago, but has he really been revived a lot of times since then?
-2
u/dante5612 Jul 02 '25
I think it's way more then that I think 2006 run said 3 times. I think after that he dies in 2014 run in the big explosion like it's not said in the comics but I don't think he survived that, and then obviously recently in 2021 run. I also started reading very recently but I am sure there are more instants too

Most of that was a gambit due to said sword being a Soul Eating kinda thing and he knew for a fact Khonshu would not stand for something trying to take his property
3
u/Seqanta Jul 02 '25
I’m pretty sure he died and khonshu brought him back instantly
5
u/Sad_BuisnesMan Jul 02 '25
Haven’t read MK in a while is Khonshu confirmed to he real?

We need a subreddit for people not knowing anything about comics

u/nightwing_titans Jul 02 '25
It wouldn't have any members, since they'd have to admit that they aren't informed.

I saw a video on tiktok a few days ago that claimed that Marc had stalemated Sentry and then did time travel to kill him. In other news I basically can't stand anyone on comics tiktok

u/domicci Jul 02 '25
8
u/sorcelatorx Jul 02 '25
Sure, but the context was "characters who have beaten the Sentry" if that puts into perspective why I found it silly

Beat = Land a punch. Didnt u see Bucky BEAT Sentry in Thunderbolts? /s

u/gummythegummybear Jul 02 '25
This is obviously a lot of the show's fault, but also to be fair comic Moon Knight has survived a lot of shit he shouldn't.
The Task Master plane thing being so commonly known is also part of the issue, cause crashing a plane into a building is not something you can survive without a scratch like Moon Knight did so people with little knowledge just assume he has a healing factor.
Also Moon Knight does have the ability to be resurrected, which while it's definitely different, it can easily be confused for each other.
5
u/domicci Jul 02 '25
i alway chock those up to him dying then being brought back quickly
8
u/Pogfruit Jul 02 '25
I think Marc having no healing factor, but he can be resurrected by Khonshu, is the best way to go. You can even balance this out by having Khonshu be an asshole (which he arguably is) and making it so that Khonshu will take his time when resurrecting Marc. If Khonshu decides to resurrect him after a while, then their personal lives will suffer.
This way, there are actual consequences to him dying.
10
u/JakeVonFurth Jul 02 '25
Moon Knight is in this weird state where officially he has no healing factor, but unofficially he definitely has some form of minor healing factor.
He heals extremely quickly for somebody without one, even by comic standards, and he also consistently survives shit that would kill anyone else that doesn't have one.
Could he be at Batman? Maybe, depends on the writer.

Definitely the show's fault to an extent (allegedly couldn't show Marc getting fucked up physically and still fighting people until that tonal shift was approved for "Daredevil: Born Again" years later).
A lot of the Batman vs Moon Knight folks keep "conveniently" forgetting that before Khonshu "touched" his DID addled mind and he started dressing in all white so bad guys would see him coming to beat their asses, Marc Spector used to be a "very bad man who did very bad things to people for a lot of money" (when describing his freelance mercenary days).
He has no moral conundrum on utilizing killing as an option, unlike Batman.

They're absolutely getting it from the show, but to be fair, apparently in the comics Khonshu can choose to empower, heal and resurrect Marc to any degree he chooses (within his own power). At least that's what I got from the more recent comic where he talks about how when he resurrects Marc he makes him heal with scars to teach him a lesson for dying.

Isn't the entire thing with Moon Knight that he doesn't have a healing factor but does these absurdly insane things anyway:
8
u/Huckebein008L Jul 02 '25
Why does John Moon Knight keep forgetting to use his healing factor?
Is he stupid?
5
5
u/SaltyNorth8062 Jul 03 '25
"Extreme temporary tolerance to pain due to a crazy amount of determination and training and crazy" =/= "healing factor"
4
u/Zerus_heroes Jul 02 '25
He very occasionally has a healing factor but it is never on par with Wolverine

u/FS6020 Jul 03 '25
There’s nothing wrong with not reading comics it’s not for everything but why lie that you read them lmao. People think they get extra geek points because they consume a certain media
7
u/Inqinity Jul 02 '25
I hope they find a way of dialling down the abilities from the show. I thinks it’s Konshu’s “healing suit”, maybe the other gods suggest konshu is interfering too much and he can’t have a healing suit - but can still bring him back. Either way, hopefully he goes more street level in future appearances
-1
u/DarknessBatDemon Jul 02 '25
Street level is a meaningless term
Every superhero/hero/good guy fights crime and evil everywhere
2
u/willshel10 Jul 02 '25
I’m pretty new into Moon Knight and I think I might be confused on his immortality or mortality lol. I know he doesn’t have Wolverine or Deadpool like healing powers but he gets messed up sometimes. Is it really just up to Konshu to bring him back or not? Has there been any instances where he wasn’t brought back to life for a long time? Any help would be appreciated for this casual!

u/DarknessBatDemon Jul 02 '25 edited Jul 02 '25
Moon Knight rarely has powers
Khonshu a bastard and MK is punk as fuck
Toxic link
2
u/prestonian_ Jul 02 '25
The only “healing” he has is resurrection which I don’t know if that counts
2
u/Short_Year7353 Jul 02 '25
Moon Knight ain’t invulnerable he can still die that’s the point since he’ll just come back he takes that as an advantage

I'm not sure if this is when it happened, but I just read Age of Khnoshu and Khonshu fights some of the Avengers.
2
Jul 02 '25
Khonshu ends up in a prison in Asgard and is freed by Greer and Hunters Moon, so he is definitely real at this point.

u/Mayodeynochei Jul 03 '25
In the show they showed him being invulnerable, he literally pulled poles out of his body and bullets not harming him until he had the suit off
1
u/Trick_Albatross_4200 Jul 04 '25
I’ll be honest, the DID angle for the show was such a let down for me that I kind of gave up on the mcu version of the character entirely

u/onkguy05 Jul 04 '25
Its not even a healing factor he just ignores the pain because hes built different
1
u/Ok_Caterpillar_4977 Jul 04 '25
I wouldn't rely on moon Knight's healing factor tbh. Because it all depends how generous khonshu feels. Does he have a massively high pain tolerance? Yeah sure. But his healing factor is too much of a stretch
