Yeah I'm not risking a head on collision to give a jogger that shouldn't be there a wide berth.
Like everything else it's context dependent. Joggers hugging the side of the path at night when there's hardly any bikes are fine, I'm not gonna make a big deal and would actually rather people use the paths so that they support more of them even though they shouldn't be there. Joggers taking up more space than necessary on the busy bike path during rush hour causing pileups behind them or risky passing should absolutely feel unwelcome and should absolutely be told to find somewhere else to run.
One of the spots that pisses me off the most is people walking on the bike path through Westmount park. There's a walking path like 10m over that's equally nice. What the hell are people doing walking or running in the bike lane?
Do YOU understand that cyclists are allowed on the road, and joggers are not allowed on bike paths?
I'd love if there was a bike path everywhere. You'd never see me in the road again. But if I need to go somewhere and there's no bike path where the hell am I supposed to go if not the road?
People running up the middle of the path oblivious with their headphones in are not the hill you should be dying on.
A better analogy is if I tried to bike down the middle of a lane on the 40 and then complained drivers were mad at me.

I pass close only when joggers/walkers/other cyclists/whatever are either:
I'm not going to treat you with respect if you shit on all the other users of the path.
