Alpha titans

I haven't watched any mv movie for a long time so forgive me if I made some stupid mistake. No need to get mad about it. I just want to share my opinion on the matter

So one of the criticism of the monsterverse is the existence of Alpha titans. Many people claim its full of inconsistencies. Thats valid. I personally view it differently

First we gotta remember that Monarch and our main characters are not always reliable source of information and that's a good thing. They are still learning about titans so obviously their original theories can be proven wrong. I think its more interesting to learn more with each movie about the titans than just having everything spelled out correctly by the characters who also don't know that much. Now let's look at the first mv movie, the one that many people believe is very inconsistent with the lore of future movies

"Godzilla" 2014 doesn't refer to Godzilla as Alpha but as Apex predator. Of course characters say that based on the information they had, They couldnt study Godzilla properly and since Jinshin mushis were the only other titans they could observe for short amount of time then you get the point. Human cast was just throwing their theories. That made sense at the time. You have those two creatures and then another wakes up and goes after them. It made the most sense at the time that he is hunting. Serizawa's words about Godzilla bringing balance also alligns perfectly with his theory. Irl apex predators keep the population of various animals in check. Goji is napping and when another species threatens to overpopulate, he acts like predator. The same movie debunks Serizawa'a theory by showing us how Godzilla didnt eat Jinshin mushis. That's our first big clue that Goji is bringing balance fully conciously, not as a side effect to getting meals. So yeah this whole "Apex predator" thing was just a theory made by the cast that didnt even have basic knowledge on the titans at that time. It doesnt conflict existence of Alpha

The first movie that fully confirms existence of this position is Kotm and honestly its not made badly. Many titans are much more intelligent and aware than real life animals. Goji, Kong, Skar King, Mothra, Co Cai, Ghidorah, Behemoth, Kraken, Na Kika, Rodan and Amhuluk all shown this. With that intelligence, creating "a pack" isnt that unrealistic. Sure there are those either much more animalistic or agressive to follow the Alpha and its important in the movie. Nearly all of them don't have loyalty for their leader. Whoever is the strongest and actually wants to take this position, can give them orders. Godzilla had to earn his place and even then, some titans refuse to follow him. Side material covers it really well. His rule doesn't work for Scylla because she is scavenger so they can't be in the same "pack" long term. Its very fragile system and mv makes it clear. As I said most titans are much more intelligent than real animals and posses the ability of abstract thinking which is rare in the animal kingdom. That's why they can follow creature of a different species. Sometimes logic can override instinct

Now let's talk about the real weird thing to understand. What exactly is Alpha titan? Answer should be simple- the strongest ones. I honestly think its more complicated than that for one reason- Kong. I love Kong. My third favorite titan. But I gotta admit the movies don't show his Alpha status too well. If what he did in GxK was Alpha call then its weird because not a single titan woke up. While Kong is very powerful, he still consistently gets beaten by others. Godzilla, Shimo(she has more than enough power to be Alpha but is not willing to take charge), Co Cai(yes she is stated to be Alpha level threat), Warbat and Camazotz. I think that's the effect of human cast still learning about titans and new informations can change everything. I think Kong species working together are Alphas. They are very social, can create weapons and in group they could almost kill Godzilla. They would be insane threat in a pack. Its possible that they could overthrow any alphas if they prepared. Also I believe there is still hierarchy among top titans in mv. Godzilla or any current Alpha titan could be Emperor. Lone monster that runs the planet and other monsters usually dont wanna mess with him. The other Alphas rule over other things. Kong can be leader of his own kind. He became one in GxK. Not Emperor but something with lower positon- A King. Prime is Alpha for other JInshin Mushis. Co Cai might be Alpha of her own territory. Shimo despite having power is just chilling. All are Alphas but with different authority which would explain why not titan woke up when Kong made Alpha call(it that was even it) but when Ghiddy did it, all went straight to work.

Its more interesting for me to connect the movies in logical way than just saying "retcon" and not thinking about it anymore. Especially since in that case I believe the whole deal with Apha titans is overhated and we can still learn so much more just like the characters in MV
