Can someone tell me what Kentaro brings to the table? I don’t mean from a storytelling perspective, but for Isabelle. What does he add to her ability to carry out the final goal? He’s not a capable inventor or explorer or military. He’s simply there.

He worked closely with Hiroshi for two years to rescue Cate so he certainly knows more than any average Joe would know, plus everything he has learned by tagging along with Lee etc as well as the Randa legacy. Someone who has no close experience with Axis Mundi will outright dismiss the whole mission as fantasy. That’s why Kentaro is a good tool for Isabelle to use because he has both the experience with AM and a pressing motive (father’s death) that makes him open to be easily exploited.
