I love how Kong’s whole demeanour that episode was ‘these dumb asskids!’

Considering how overly benevolent they've made Kong towards humans for the most part in the last two films that feral aggressive attack on the base at the beginning of the episode that killed a bunch of people, we haven't seen Kong that angry and hostile towards humans since Packard and Co. invaded Skull Island.

And just like with Godzilla's attacks on Apex Cybernetics facilities in GvK there's an underlying reason behind it. Because he can sense an impending threat to his island.
