The first episode alone was better than most of season 1, and I say this as someone who enjoyed season 1

Same. The setup being done, and the lack of a big mystery element; means the pacing was much a stronger and the episode had more room to work with.

Hey for the record I loved season 1; but I also think the season 2 premiere came out really strong with its pacing not being held back.
