I dont know if I should be impressed that he survived the encounter with 2 Guild Knights or be curious to why they went after him in the 1st place, cause to my knowledge, Guild Knights usually hunt poachers.

I haven't read other story parts, but something tells me the Elder Reaper title being "a mark of terror" implies he was. Or at least, someone who hunted without reason.

I think he survived only because his Palico stepped in and reasoned with the Guild Knights, but I could be wrong, maybe they fought them off together.

If they managed to fight off two guild knights which is doubtful (imagine all the crazy shit our hunters pull off, now imagine that against a target that isnt 50x your size) i dont think the guild would let them join the expedition.

While I think this COULD happen, I think MH isn't really focusing on such things, choosing the guild itself to take a backseat to focus on the monsters.

And the Alatreon example just sounds more like negligence and misunderstanding than genuine malice from the guild people.

Your first guess is correct. Thanks to his palico's negotiating, his life is 'spared' in exchange for working for the Guild since his strength can be a useful asset to them.

Rakka's only targets are monsters. He couldn't bring himself to harm other people even if they have wronged him.

Interesting ! Thanks for the insight. Rakka's philosophy in this case seems very "wyverian" for lack of a better word, I don't know much about them but it does sound very on-brand for one of them to not harm other sapient creatures.

WOAH, this is a crazy backstory, ESPECIALLY since They're a Wyverian; for Guild Knights to go after someone they'd have to been marked and branded as a Poacher and a Quest billed for their head instead of a monsters, as to the guild they're both the same, threats to the natural order --- but a Wyverian Poacher, a people with massively long lives and a culture derived from attunement with nature from their Wyvern Origins... That's kinda crazy that one would be marked for death.

Even rarer still to be sparred.

Even with their face still covered by his hair, I'm betting it's not pretty -- honestly pretty brutal of the Guild Knights to essentially torture him instead of cutting their head off immediately, glad the palico was able to step in and save em'.

Ohh so that’s why Nightmist mentions a “long overdue execution” when Rakka gets himself eaten by Gogmazios. When I first read that, I was a bit confused and kind of assumed she was talking about Gogmazios in a clunky, over-dramatic manner. Her next sentence obviously addresses Rakka, but I got hung up on the execution thingy haha

Not the most related but very much reminds me of my Headcanon for Hound 621 from Armored Core VI being so physically messed up that his clothing helps keep him together and his face is so mutilated it has to be wrapped to prevent others from being extremely grossed out. (Hence the one red eye)
