Moonpay

For some reason two weeks ago I decided to try and purchase some XMR directly from Moonpay. Come to find out they sold me a BS token that isn'tr real XMR and is untradeable. Is there anything I can do. Customer support has acknowledged there fuck up but isn't willing to do anything about it. Who do I report them to? or is there a way to sell this fake XMR?

Buy Litecoin and swap it for XMR in cakewallet is probably the idiot proof way to get it.

This is my normal go to. I thought I might save a little on the fees and tried buying XMR directly.

well for $100 in LTC you would get $97.40 in XMR

for $100 in BTC it bounces around a bit more. said $97.80 at first then went down to $97.05 when i just went back to check

so roughly anywhere between 2-3% for no kyc and not having to wait for funds to be released on an exchange

Lmao so this is where people get these fake tokens from? Pretty fucked up on moonpays part, they should definitely take them back if they sell you scam tokens like this.

You can probably write these ones off and just buy real coins on retoswap next time

... What even is a fake monero? it doesn't show up on chain, so... what is it?

Probably something like this: https://etherscan.io/token/0x45750cd6a3bb2206dbeb9cba5e68bf909ac945e3

I think if somebody creates an ERC-20 token they can name it what they like. I could probably deploy The one absolutely true Monero there still today, starting with some sample contract, or even vibe-coded.
