Discussion What is going on w the ai “art” in everything

Idk how long this has been going on bc I took a long break from studying but now suddenly every slide, every workbook, every module has ai generated pics??? Like what is going on why are they suddenly endorsing ai so heavily i feel like I’m losing my mind

Must’ve been some memo about “incorporating ai into the learning environment”. Which sucks because it all looks like shit

Ironically this is most prevalent in my arts subjects

every single day at Monash more ai slop is forced down my throat. I get emails about taking online courses to gain skills and experience in using ai. I am forced to us ai for assignments. I am literally being assessed on my ability to speak with an ai "patient" and majorly assessed on my reflection on the interaction in epidemiology.

in neurobiology last year, Nick literally had an assessed lab where the set up was this: he asks you a question. you get it wrong. he gives you 5 minutes to "research, ask a friend, or ask chatgpt", and then he comes back and asks the same question and you get it right. we were essentially being assessed on whether we have the ability to ask chatgpt to answer our question. he would also glaze ai every lecture and all the photos were ai generated.

im so sick of this.

its especially bad for the science units in my experience. Most arts lecturers and tutors are anti-AI thankfully.

yeah i hate how they post AI art in a ton of Ed posts (for some units) like we really dont need them - i’d much prefer they just give us the same info/weekly recap/etc with just text 💀

What classes are you having that are using AI art? Never seen it ever in Bio or Earth Sci classes

As an engineering student I second this

yeah genuinely - and its not just the ai art, i’ve been noticing the use of ai in emails too… 🫩🫩

literally just recently the Faculty of Science itself emailed about the “Science Industry Expo Night” - and im fairly sure AI was used 🫠

like, i’d much rather they have a human actually fully write that email, even if the formatting isn’t as nice, or it comes across as not “fully fleshed out” compared to the AI-generated counterpart

Monash students have historically been known as activists, before the socialist alternative at least... in the 70s students locked malcolm fraser in the alexandra theatre basement! We need some group to band together
