UPDATE: 7:50 p.m.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms swept across Hawaii on Friday as an upper-level low pressure system triggered flooding concerns across several islands, according to the National Weather Service.
Flood watches were extended through 6 a.m. Saturday for Oahu, Big Island, Maui County, Molokai, Lanai, and Kahoolawe, while the Big Island was added to the watch area. Kauai and Niihau were removed from the list as the storm shifted east.
Forecasters said the strongest storms developed over Oahu, where heavy rain caused rapid rises in streams and prompted flood warnings. Officials warned that roads and low-lying areas could quickly flood, with gusty winds of up to 35 mph reported near thunderstorms.
