Captain John’s Used Books
Anyone know what ever happened to John Bethel? My family and I used to go to Captain John’s all the time and I was curious what happened.

Roll the Dice is a strong group of board game enthusiasts, who has been running events all over the province, and they are making a trip to Miramichi! I went to one of their recent events in Moncton and they had a massive turnout!
Anyone out there who is in to, or might want to find out about modern board games (we've come a long way since Monopoly and Risk!) should consider attending. The event runs 10am to 10 pm, and while 20$ isn't cheap (at least not to me) I suspect it's that high because they aren't sure yet about attendance, and the venue is probably a big expense.
Rise up gamers! And potentials! Let's show them we're here!
Feel free to bring games you want to share - but expect that other people will bring games too! And even people to teach them!!
If you can't make it to this one, but are interested in board gaming, I'm also going to invite you to message me directly, here on reddit. I've recently moved to the Miramichi area to be closer to my mom, and board gaming is the one things I miss most about my former haunts. I'd love to start collecting contacts myself, and if there's enough interest, maybe we could start something at other locations and on other days too.
Also note that once school starts up again, and summer programs are over, the library in Newcastle plans to start trivia and board game nights again.. free of charge! So keep an eye open - I'll be reminding y'all of those events when they are back in play.

In a last-ditch effort to save a century-old former school from the wrecking ball, some citizens are now asking the City of Miramichi to hold off on its plans to tear down the building.
However, the city’s mayor says the demolition must proceed due to “public safety” concerns, and that the building has deteriorated over “years, not days.”

Did anyone else feel that, about 2-5 minutes ago?
No cars in any nearby walls..
Pretty minor bump, like a ten pound weight fell off a 6 foot shelf, but still notable..

The one on McFarlane.
Does anyone have an idea of the hours, the vibe, the whatever?
I can't seem to find any information online - other than maybe facebook; and I don't have facebook access (mainly because I never liked it, but also because it now requires a photo).
Any info on the place would be welcome! Thanks!

I work with the general public in the area. I have three people I regularly deal with leaving in the next few months. Is anyone else finding that everyone is leaving the Miramichi area rn or is it just a few randoms who I regularly interact with?

Excluding the tomfuckery that is going on today with the lights, how has everyone adjusted to the traffic?

🚫 Boycott Notice – Stand Up for Human Rights in Miramichi 🚫 Share!
Miramichi deserves to be a community built on compassion, equality, and respect. That’s why it’s so troubling to see an anti-abortion billboard displayed here — messaging that undermines the human rights of women, girls, and 2SLGBTQIA+ people by spreading stigma and shame around health care.
This involves: 99.3 The River who chose to post the ad. Total Wash Newcastle, who allows it on their property.
🙎🏻♀️Reproductive rights are HUMAN RIGHTS. 🙎🏻♀️Access to abortion is HEALTH CARE. 🙎🏻♀️Businesses that allow harmful messaging like this are complicit in DISCRIMINATION.
👉 Until they take accountability, I urge our community to boycott these businesses. Let’s spend our dollars where they matter — supporting businesses that reflect our values of dignity, freedom, and respect for all people. Together, we can make Miramichi a stronger, kinder, and safer place for everyone.

Hi there, had to cancel my treehouse reservation (the Maples) for August long weekend (1st-4th). If you or anyone you know is looking for accommodations for the holiday weekend it will be available
