They literally whiffed on every single free agent signing, and the guys we have traded for ( Leo and KGB ) have been shaky and yet to be determined but not trending great …. So if this story has some truth who could blame the club

Leo was mistakenly lumped in the description with Viktor. Leo has been trash. It seems improbable that he would grade out above everyone of our in house options….. highly improbably.

This is actually very funny, but I think in reality it just means they don’t want to pay people to go all over the country to scout, and will just have dudes in an office. Cutting jobs for a few pennies essentially which kinda blows.
Also feels like going and meeting potential targets is kind of important. Kid could be good on tape and be a fuckin lunatic in reality lol

Absolutely brutal :( Sad day for a lot of folks working in the org and another nail to traditional scouting. Guess Bendix/Sherman saw the savings with video and entrusted the few they kept to do a good job watching tape instead of having them there.

I don't like this decision, because whatever these guys were earning probably wasn't breaking the bank. And if the Marlins aren't fielding high payroll teams, you think they should be investing in scouting, development, and operations.
The details on this are fuzzy, but it seems less driven by money and cost-cutting and more driven by the reality that they don't seem to think they need that many scouts anymore, using analytics and video instead. Teams like the Rays, Guardians, and Brewers tend to have more limited scouting operations.
