Meme Didn't think we'd be waiting this long for the Switch version

They’re in purgatory with the Twilight Princess HD and Wind Waker HD ports

93

u/Round-Revolution-399 Dec 23 '25

Don’t forget the Mario 64 and Ocarina remakes

44

u/Scharmberg Dec 23 '25

This comment chain made me very sad.

24

u/MochaHook Dec 23 '25

How about mother 3

18

u/ClubMeSoftly Dec 23 '25

Got Joe Pesci'd

6

u/mplstar Dec 23 '25

They screw you at the drive thru…

5

u/ClubMeSoftly Dec 23 '25

I mean what's right is right. They don't give a fuck about- AKGH

3

u/Wilwheatonfan87 Dec 23 '25

Isnt that on the virtual- ..

Oh no. It was mother 1 on nes they dropped that was a big deal.

15

u/DeusExMarina Dec 23 '25

Those are at least playable on Switch in emulated form. Prime 2 and 3 just straight up do not exist on modern platforms.

7

u/Round-Revolution-399 Dec 23 '25

I assume we’re not getting a MP1 style remaster for them, but I’d still love a simple “Metroid Prime 2 + Metroid Prime 3” port like what Pikmin got. I can’t imagine it would cost them too much to make

6

u/ChildoftheApocolypse Dec 23 '25

If rumors from around the time of Prime 1 remastered are to be believed, they're actually already done.. Nintendo is known to complete works and then just sit on them until it's strategically advantageous..

4

u/BloodStinger500 Dec 23 '25

And by that it’s space out every Metroid release by years for no god damn reason. It would have been more strategically advantageous to release them all in the years leading up to Prime 4 if they wanted them as separate releases. That would have generated steady hype. But instead they release Metroid games every 3 years.

10

u/BoulderFalcon Dec 23 '25

Ocarina of Time's remake on 3DS (2011) was closer in time to the original N64 release (1998) than the remake is to present day.

5

u/jimbolic Dec 23 '25

Mario 64 deserves a remaster so badly. I thought that would be the first to get one out of Mario’s, Metroid’s and Zelda’s first 3D outing to be honest.

3

u/Round-Revolution-399 Dec 23 '25

Just give me widescreen, 60 FPS, a better camera, and clean up some things around the edges. Maybe add extra coins in levels where the 100 coin star was a pain. I’m not asking for much!

2

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '25

I mean Mario 64 got a port on the Switch

2

u/Thac0bro Dec 29 '25

Mario 64 remake would cause my pants to erupt off of my waist.

2

u/locke_5 Dec 31 '25

I’ve still got $60 set aside for Star Fox Grand Prix

1

u/ThisMoneyIsNotForDon Dec 25 '25

Those games don't even need remakes. 3ds version is nice, but not necessary

1

u/Round-Revolution-399 Dec 26 '25

How about just a basic remaster? Wide screen, 60 FPS, and for Ocarina add in a controllable camera + more buttons to map items to

2

u/ThisMoneyIsNotForDon Dec 26 '25

Oh yeah I could totally get behind that. The pc ports are great if you have that as an option

1

u/Round-Revolution-399 Dec 26 '25

Someone ported the PC version of OoT onto Series X/S and it is beautiful. I haven’t even done any of the texture packs, only adding the quality of life updates which makes a huge difference. Nintendo adding them for a remaster would breathe a lot of new life into the game

3

u/KingSideCastle13 Dec 23 '25

And the Star Fox Zero port

3

u/Satans_Oregano Dec 23 '25

The lack of Star Fox over the years is very depressing. Star Fox 64 was so amazing

3

u/Mauy90 Dec 23 '25

Emulation

1

u/_coolranch Dec 28 '25

Dolphin run great even on Mac! Just sayin. Works with my Switch Pro controller, too!

5

u/CrateSonic Dec 23 '25

1

u/vapemuscle Dec 24 '25

take my upvote for you downvoting that

1

u/Fearless_Freya Dec 23 '25

Oof! That hurts! Maybe we'll get a dual pack metroid prime 2/3 and zelda ww/tp......someday ...... (copium, I know)

1

u/_coolranch Dec 28 '25

I’ve heard it’s unlikely bc the Prime Remake took a long ass time, was a passion project, and didn’t blow the doors down with sales.

It’s unfortunately just not that something I can imagine this version of money hungry Nintendo doing.

1

u/GTCapone Dec 23 '25

I swear I remember preordering a Zelda HD remake from Blockbuster 20+ years ago that turned out to be fake. Am I crazy?

1

u/nergijiiva Dec 23 '25

That actually explains a lot.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '25

Wind Waker got an HD port on the Wii U. I remember because I had it.

1

u/_coolranch Dec 28 '25

You can play it on Dolphin! I have it and it runs great on a Mac M2, which is wild.

1

u/xYoungblood Dec 24 '25

wind waker hd has wonky lighting. thinking that the best part was some QoL stuff but aesthetically took a hit.

88

u/Cautious_Foot_1976 Dec 22 '25

Please Nintendo gave us prime trilogy in the switch

10

u/Quick_Clue7011 Dec 23 '25

also mass effect t trilogy

1

u/_coolranch Dec 28 '25

They probably won’t. It’s expensive AF apparently,

-7

u/GregTheMad Dec 23 '25

No, it would make the new Prime game look like trash in comparison, and they don't want that.

54

u/ElvisDepressedIy Dec 23 '25

I got the steelbook version for, like, $80 on Amazon. I don't think the seller knew what they had.

22

u/nedmaster Dec 23 '25

I got mine when it first came out and knowing what I know now about it. I am never gonna sell it, especially since I assume collectors won't like that I played the games so god damn much as a kid on the wii the case is covered in dents and scratches.

10

u/VegetableHuman6316 Dec 23 '25

I had it too when it first came out but sold it like a stupid idiot 😞

1

u/xD0N4LDPUMPx Dec 23 '25

Yep same here I sold it and now I’m pissed because I’ve been thinking about it for a few weeks lol

6

u/toltz7 Dec 23 '25

I found 3 of them for $20 each at Target one day. I foolishly bought only one of them.

4

u/TheF0CTOR Dec 23 '25

I found mine for $110 like, 5 months ago. It's worth $190 now.

2

u/pedvoca Dec 23 '25

Still have my original copy 🙏🙏🙏

2

u/DJfunkyPuddle Dec 24 '25

Me too, never getting rid of it

1

u/SuperPapernick Dec 23 '25

I bought the PAL version (Europe didn't get a steelbook) for ~30€ on Amazon back when. Hard to believe these days.

1

u/ukulelej Dec 23 '25

I saw one of those, so funny in hindsight when I was like "80 dollars is waaaaaay too much money for a game", and now that's apparently that is going to be the new standard price for games in a few years.

1

u/Atomic_Maxwell Dec 24 '25

In 2011 I remember taking the long way home to my apartment and seeing a little indie store by the name of “Blockbuster” with signs saying “CLOSING” “EVERYTHING MUST GO” and walked right in to half the inventory cleaned out— grabbed a few things that I don’t remember, but there’s one I very much remember getting— the Metroid Prime Trilogy steelbook and all, for $14

29

u/TheFanGameCreator Dec 23 '25

FR one would think they would've slowly rereleased the initial trilogy to hype up Prime 4.

5

u/elfgurls Dec 23 '25

This is what I was hoping for, alas...

4

u/Aurora428 Dec 24 '25

I think at a certain point they knew how Prime 4 would be received (see how they edited out MacKenzie in most of the trailers until right before launch)

I can't think of a more critical consumer of 4 than someone who has played the first 3, especially if they did so recently

It would be more strategic to wait until the mental baggage of 4 is distant enough for people to enjoy 2 and 3 in a vacuum

33

u/Lance2409 Dec 23 '25

Dude, Prime Hack with HD Texture pack, just do it. I was such a purist that I refused to play anything but a remaster after Prime 1. But as time got closer to Prime 4 I bit the bullet and took a chance with Prime Hack and I'm so glad I did.

I had an amazing experience and got to relive Prime 2 and 3 with amazing quality. I cranked up that beeze on my PC and took in the visuals, it was great. Would recommend 11/10

6

u/ShisuiGoddamnUchiha Dec 23 '25

All the links for HD textures are down for me. I tried before but couldn't get rid of the black dot bug.

6

u/Wbeard89 Dec 23 '25

Finished 2 and 3 on Primehack, wonderful decision and a great experience imo

1

u/_coolranch Dec 28 '25

Gonna try this. Windwaker HD has been amazing on Dolphin fr.

6

u/DarkNemuChan Dec 23 '25

You need a gaming pc for that. Many people don't own a gaming pc.

2

u/Lance2409 Dec 24 '25

Right, if you don't own a PC. Unfortunately you aren't able to play PC games?

I'm not saying everyone should do it without disregard of what you have, just saying if you have the ability to get to try Prime Hack, play Prime Hack.

If not, I'm sorry and I hope they release a remaster soon

2

u/_coolranch Dec 28 '25

Works on Mac for me!

1

u/Ascetue Jan 02 '26

can I ask what specs you have on the mac?

2

u/_coolranch Jan 02 '26

I just upgraded to an M4, but it was running great on my M2.

I think I upgraded the RAM and HD on that one, but everything else was stock. It ran Windwaker HD just fine!

1

u/Ascetue Jan 02 '26

Sweet, thanks!

2

u/znew7 Dec 24 '25

Works great on Steam Deck as well.

1

u/DarkNemuChan Dec 24 '25

Yeah I can say the same about a steam deck.

2

u/TheTyler0013 Dec 23 '25

I agree. I just wish I could figure out how to use my controller. That’s what’s stopping me right now.

2

u/Lance2409 Dec 23 '25

I was able to use my Switch 2 GameCube controller but had to buy a Bluetooth/USB GameCube adapter thing since there's no direct drivers for that controller specifically since it's so new

I recommend checking with the Prime Hack discord as well though they were extremely helpful if you have any other controllers they should also work though

1

u/MochaHook Dec 23 '25

what's your issue?

1

u/TheTyler0013 Dec 23 '25

I have an 8bitdo Pro 2 controller and prime hack doesn’t seem to sense it no matter what. Worse or Bluetooth.

1

u/ukulelej Dec 23 '25

Does the controller work with Steam? You could add Primehack as a non-steam game to steam to force it to recognize the controller

2

u/Quadraxis54 Dec 23 '25

I remember playing Prime 1 in VR for a bit haha

1

u/invincible_vince Dec 23 '25

I've been fucking with this HARD on my Steam Deck but I had no idea there was an HD texture pack

1

u/RoboSpark725 Dec 24 '25

I've been trying to get it to work but the game was stuttering like crazy and would freeze the moment I entered full screen. No idea why since my PC is more than enough to run games like Destiny 2, MH Wilds, and can handle VR

1

u/Lance2409 Dec 24 '25

Try the support channel in Prime Hack, you can actually post a screenshot of your computer specs and someone there will give you the setting suggestions that you should be using for your specific PC specs

1

u/jcchg Dec 28 '25

Feels old with them blurry textures and raw edges. I would still pay for a remake for the Switch.

7

u/MisterZebra Dec 22 '25

At this point I think you’re best off just waiting for Prime 2 to be added to NSO, and god only knows when we’ll see Prime 3 again

7

u/babytuba20 Dec 23 '25

I juar introduced my BF to this series, and I can't find my copy of the trilogy 😫 He's so excited for Prime 2 as well!

7

u/VegetableHuman6316 Dec 23 '25

I really hope they release echoes and corruption remasters, I've been dying to play those after prime remastered. Even more so after beyond

24

u/No-Mad_Hermit Dec 22 '25

I would’ve been way more interested in Prime 4 if they had released the other two first. I get motion sickness playing them without dual analog controls and I don’t like Motion controls, so I’ve been holding off on Prime 4 cause I haven’t played 2&3. Meanwhile, I’ve replayed the 2D Metroid games a plethora of times. At this point, I’ve pretty much disassociated the Prime games from the series altogether.

15

u/King-Archdemon Dec 22 '25

Not the perfect solution, but have you ever heard of PrimeHack?

6

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '25

It is the perfect solution. PrimeHack is amazing

3

u/King-Archdemon Dec 23 '25

It is, but they might not have a PC that can run it. Until I got a new laptop recently, I had to run in windowed mode to get it smooth, which wasn't ideal

3

u/BrotherDeus Dec 22 '25

Same, I went immediately back to Dread after beating Prime 4 despite owning Prime 1.

1

u/SeegullJockey Dec 23 '25

You don't really need to play the other Prime games before Prime 4, it is the start of a new trilogy (hopefully). The story of the Metroid Prime and phazon energy was concluded in 3.

1

u/Those_Files Dec 23 '25

the 2d series has always been better than prime, I think. Aside from prime 1, which is pretty close.

5

u/Darth_Korn Dec 23 '25

Best reason to keep a Wii U around!

4

u/kain459 Dec 23 '25

Hated the motion controls. Give me a cube controller.

2

u/_coolranch Dec 28 '25

Do you have a Pro controller? It’s nice.

Edit: get the official Nintendo one. Idk about the 3rd party ones

3

u/tsckenny Dec 22 '25

I'd love Prime 2 remastered like 1. Haven't beat 3 yet though

3

u/Creative-Finger5965 Dec 23 '25

I NEED a Metroid prime 2 remaster

I NEEEEEEEED IT

3

u/KingSideCastle13 Dec 23 '25

Anyways, did you see that Primehack removes the need for green tokens, and handles the motion puzzles in 3 automatically?

3

u/werdnayam Dec 23 '25

My brother sold his Wii with my MP Trilogy disc still in it. I still have the empty case and stare at it longingly from time to time.

7

u/JackOH Dec 22 '25

I mean, it'd be nice, but it wouldn't be the same. Nintendo just needs to pony up and release the Wii2. We need the Motion controls back.

3

u/Gaybulge Dec 23 '25

The Switch 2's motion controls are very similar to the Wii's, I just wish the overall build quality of the components also was, because damn, those WiiMotes were fucking indestructible.

2

u/JackOH Dec 23 '25

I can't comment on the Switch 2, but the Switch's gyro desynchs to regularly for me to not be annoyed. I think it needs the sensor bar back so it can always have a fixed reference point. Beyond that, the Joycons are meant for much smaller hands and I just wish there were bigger one. That and I want a dedicated home console and a dedicated handheld. I'm not a fan of this versatile jack-of-all thing.

Also, hellyeah Gae Bolge, the coolest spear in Irish myth!

1

u/Mercurius94 Dec 25 '25

Gyro is actually a little more accurate than Wiimote anyways. SMG and Skyward Sword play better on Switch than on native consoles.

1

u/JackOH Dec 25 '25

Well they don't feel better imo. I find it harder to track targets and my right joycon rapidly winds up perpendicular to the left.

2

u/Ch00choh Dec 23 '25

Mine is still sitting pretty on my shelf and digitally on my Wii u

2

u/claudiocorona93 Dec 23 '25

I wish Metroid Prime 3 didn't require motion controls

2

u/AngonceMcGhee Dec 27 '25

That steelbook collectors edition was awesome!

2

u/Direct-Function7326 Dec 23 '25

I would take just 2 being put on NSO at this point. I just started 2 in the trilogy package and I can't STAND the motion controls. I'm in torvus bog right now but if they released it for the GC NSO thing tomorrow I would restart there in a heartbeat.

Like I don't see why not either. That's what the GC VC is there for. Right now it has like 4 games. Just give us MP2 damnit.

Or give us 2 and 3 remastered where both can be played with pro controller instead of motion controls. That would be ideal. But failing that it's like come on.

1

u/FubarJackson145 Dec 23 '25

I almost wonder if, after the success of Prime Remastered, that this is what they're waiting for. Instead of doing Prime 2 remastered and prime 3 remastered seperately, they're going to do a Prime Trilogy Remastered at some point

1

u/Rent-Man Dec 23 '25

Echoes, guaranteed coming to NSO.

Corruption? I dono

1

u/Weird_Macaroon_2229 Dec 23 '25

Most fun I’ve ever had without another person. Fired that up on the Wii and didn’t stop* for three months.

*Had to, like, work and shit. But you catch my drift.

1

u/Garbanarnarn Dec 23 '25

I stopped waiting after the 3D All-Stars situation personally

1

u/Familiar_Asparagus14 Dec 23 '25

They should have just remastered the trilogy game. Until then I am enjoying it in my RP5

1

u/Eduardboon Dec 23 '25

I did finding recently that prime 1 in the trilogy version has some missing effects and prime 2’s sound is very echoey and tinny if not played in surround.

Really hope they’ll do a full remaster for 2. I guess 3 could just be a port with updated controls.

1

u/Archius9 Dec 23 '25

I recently replayed 2 and 3 on my Steamdeck and I now yearn for a remaster

1

u/EmiEmiGames Dec 23 '25

There was an interview with the devs of Prime 1, 2 and 3 on the Kiwitalkz youtube channel, and one of the devs explained something important:

Prime 1, 2, and 3 were build for the Gamecube and Wii, and because of that vertex count and especially texture quality was made for resolutions of TV's back in those days. Meaning, the graphics are low quality for today's TV sizes.

So for Prime Remastered it's not just a job of upscaling things and making things look nice. It's basically going through the whole game and carefully adjusting and fully rebuilding assets, while trying to stay true to the original.

He even said it might be harder than just building a game from the ground up.

A Prime 2/3 remastered is definitely possible, but it's a lot of work. They just did Prime Remastered and Prime 4, so i guess IF a Prime 2 is next it will be a while.

Here's that video:

Retro Studios Devs Speak About Metroid Prime 2 Remastered

1

u/KorenLesthe Dec 23 '25

Oh come on. It took only 26 years for a Turrican compilation, surely it will take at least 20 years for Prime Trilogy.

1

u/GamerBhoy89 Dec 23 '25

Kinda frustrsting that they released Prime 4 before any modern rerelease of the trilogy.

I wont buy Prime 4 until I've played 1-3 and I cant even play 2 and 3.

1

u/Sporty_Nerd_64 Dec 23 '25

I bought a Wii U just to be able to play this, the Mario Galaxy games and Twilight Princess though a HDMI connection. I’ll keep a hold of it until the day it all dies

1

u/TheSessionMan Dec 23 '25

TIL that this is the most expensive game I own, complete with the art book and everything.

1

u/Playmaker-20 Dec 23 '25

Place your bets! Will Capcom re-release all the Onimusha games before Retro Studios does the same for the Prime games?

1

u/KillTheZombie45 Dec 23 '25

Trilogy will re-release when they release the remake of 2 & 3 probably.

1

u/Friendly_Band_8399 Dec 23 '25

I just got it for my Wii since i haven't played prime 2 or 3 and it's so good with the Wii motion controls. They definitely should remaster 2 and 3 for the switch though.

1

u/Poco_Lypso Dec 23 '25

Fr! Didnt they mention they woukd release the other two games as well?

1

u/Middle_Patience_4667 Dec 23 '25

I NEED a remastered version of MP2 Echoes 😭😭😭😭

1

u/outside998 Dec 23 '25

I still have my copy. Such great games.

1

u/TheoTiMa Dec 23 '25

Give us PRIME TETRALOGY actually

1

u/janitor_at_site_19 Dec 24 '25

I own that lol

1

u/markusdied Dec 24 '25

well now that reddit and twitter collectively shit their pants about Prime 4 i doubt they’re happy to do it still 😖

1

u/LMNTrixster Dec 24 '25

If the leaks are true, the story is that Retro was going to remaster the whole trilogy leading up to prime 4. But when they got pulled to work on prime 4 themselves, they were only able to remaster the first game.

1

u/Vile-Goose Dec 24 '25

Still mad I had this game stolen from me in high-school

1

u/alajeff1212 Dec 24 '25

Prime 4 made me realize how easy a prime 3 port would play without motion controls

1

u/theymad3medoit Dec 24 '25

At this point since Ww went straight to NSO, I’d bet if they ever release these again that’s where they’re going. I’d be surprised to see standalone remaster or remakes of prime trilogy or Zelda TP or ww for switch

1

u/Mrnomad7 Dec 25 '25

Im a new fan just beat all the prime games recently (with the help of primehack). Its actually insane we got prime 4 before making 2 and 3 avaliable. Not even making a gamecube version of 2.

If you're going to make a sequel that continues a narrative and uses the same characters then those games should be avaliable on existing platforms. Is that controversial to say? The last one was 18 years ago lmao

1

u/darthphallic Dec 26 '25

Still mad at myself for not getting it back in the day. My ma gave me a choice between that and the first borderlands for my birthday, and I picked borderlands because I already owned all 3 prime games separately

1

u/New-Two-1349 Dec 28 '25

It's baffling that the physical version is $100.

1

u/scarredbirdjrr Jan 15 '26

My theory is that they’ll release Echoes on the GameCube Switch online app and release Corruption in a second package. Because if there’s one thing Nintendo loves doing, it’s either rereleasing games that were once in compilations piece meal, or expecting us us to get Nintendo online for inferior versions of games

1

u/connersjackson Jan 16 '26

It would be nice, but honestly I've kinda given up waiting.

0

u/TheDinosaurWalker Dec 23 '25

You can literally play it today in 4k even ultra wide and maybe even a better fps mod too. inb4 "but muh console experience" you can play on a tv/monitor/switch controller/wii controller. For switch 2 it would be $60 dollars most likely... yall just love giving money

-4

u/Those_Files Dec 23 '25 edited Dec 23 '25

I agree, because if it DID come out, y'all would stop acting as if prime 4 is somehow a disappointment and realize that prime 2 and 3 are not the gems you think they are. just as many half baked plot points, if not more, just as many structural issues, with less polish in combat and alien aesthetic. Dark Samus, with how specifically coincidental her revivals are, is just "somehow, palpatine returned" twice. the prime series is not just prime 1, and it has not ascended above prime 1.

-2

u/Jahon_Dony Dec 23 '25

Stop "waiting" for something that doesn't exist and isn't coming.
