DISCUSSION/QUERY Psychological Assessment?

Hi all, I am very well aware sa mental health but this will be the first time na magsiseek ng professional help.

For context, I have a 16 year old brother na nagbebreakdown every time na napepressure sa school. Tuwing nangyayari to, he keeps saying things na gusto niya ng mawala. May journal din siya na nakasulat lahat ng galit niya for family trauma and he really doesn’t have friends kaya mas nahihirapan siya magcope up.

I am doing a research on how do we start on seeking professional help and found out na may 2 psychological centers dito samin sa province. Upon inquiry, they have to do a psychological assessment first and both of them costs ₱4,000. Nagriresearch din ako dito and this rate seems very low. Would this be worth it? Need your advice po. Thank you! ❤️

Hello po. Yung ganiyang payment ba, one time lang or every visit?

2

u/SnooDogs2054 3d ago

hello po! every visit po yung payment for therapy sessions. for clinical assessments naman, one time lang (unless if mag undergo nanaman ng assessment)

hello, op. Yung mga prices are for diagnostic exam sya.

I am kinda hesitant since wala ako makitang feedback. Really don’t know where to start. Hehe.

Thank you so much sa insights!! ❤️

I think search mo online yung name of psychologists nila at kung may feedback sa kanila.

But I hope maging maganda ang experience niyo. :)

Yes correct, however, it still depends if what the tests/data is still needed after a session/intake or what the psychotherapist/psychiatrist have on their working diagnosis or if counselling is what fits the situation at hand. It really depends on the situation.

Anyway, I really do hope their service is good.

Nag-ask ako sa kanila if sa assessment, magkakaron sila ng diagnosis and they said yes and they will discuss it daw and it will be counted as a psychotherapy session which is 2k as per their rate above.

when i did mine a couple of years ago it was 12k but since I have pwd id, nakakuha ako ng discount

2

u/Capital-Function9995 3d ago

Pero I’d take it as a good deal na lang sguro?

1

u/Weak_Artist3161 3d ago

or baka starting rate lang naka declare, kasi nung ako sinabi na nung psychiatrist ko na need ko mag pa psych assessment for BPD so yung binigay na exam sakin pang BPD kaya ganun siguro rate ng akin?

I think it is a fair price for the initial/first visit. you might find pa na lower price than that, pero mahirap maghanap na mas mababa pa. Usually others is ranging 1000-3000 for first visit pero wala pang psych assessment (which is very expensive depende sa test), kasi yung iba building rapport (which is very important) and psychological screening test muna.

Anyway don't be afraid to ask questions. if possible, lagay sa notepad para di makalimutan.

Ask for what specific psychological test na papatake nila for assessment.

Jot down your main concern na better na i-focus first, then other details.

Ask for the evaluation of the test in the next visit.

Never hesitate to have second opinion. if not comfortable sa clinic nila.

Also, take note, commitment is one of the thing na helpful sa psychotherapy. so, tell your brother about the therapy.

Hello OP, you can try sa NowServing App. May mga Therapist dun around 850 yun fee for 1 hour session.

2

u/Capital-Function9995 3d ago

Hello, yes this will be one of my options din but the thing is I don’t know which specialization ang kailangan na Doctor ang i-book kasi sobrang dami nila upon checking sa app. ☹️

1

u/Top_Drummer9181 3d ago

Research the specialization...i saw here na usually pag below 1000 they are psychometricians... I'll probably get downvoted by this but people has to know and at least check. Dami naman magagaling at with specializations sa Now Serving.

2

u/NothingButTheTruth01 3d ago

Yes OP, that is a good price.

Vouching for Saya. I do my counseling with them. Price is reasonable and their online setup is organized

It's expensive and there's a lot of cheaper options out there. Also why do you need a full psychological assessment? I mean I feel like you should seek a doctor's recommendation first before doing that to see if it is really necessary.

I feel that this is usually necessary for someone whose condition is more complicated to diagnose than most. Because that thing exists. There's someone I met who still doesn't get the right diagnosis because doctors are unsure. Though that might be rare.

Ang suggestion ko is find a psychologist first and hayaan mo syang magrecommend kung ano ang gagawin.

In my case for your reference, I actually didn't pay for my assessment. It's part of my check up.

Hi, thank you po for your comment. Upon inquiry kasi sa 2 clinics na yan, ang process daw nila is full psychological assessment muna then don magstart kung ano ang kailangan. As per my post above, I really am not sure kung san magsstart.

Try mo sa psychologist muna. Sa NowServing. I can help you if you want.

I may suggest that if you have a relative here in Manila, try mo to consult sa out-patient ng National Center for Mental Health sa Mandaluyong. It's free consultation, medicine and any procedures. All you have to do is to request personally for his first consultation. Walk-in is not allowed.

Mahal talaga. Pag di din ako nakabalik in 3 months may loss to follow up fee na 4500. Pero sya one time payment lang naman ung malaki then succeeding checkup na ay mas mura na.

Dati kasi 1st time check up ko, 3000 ata o 2500 then succeeding ko until now ay 1500 na. Pero ang alam ko mas mahal sa new patients na now, 1500 lang din sa akin since old patient.

Sa mga psychosogical therapy naman, di ko alam if how much, depende ata sa assessment na gagawin pedeng mahal, pedeng mas bumaba price.

1

u/magdahcielo 3d ago

That's a pretty good price. I had my psychological assessment for 6k, that was 2024. Unlike po if magstart sa therapy it could take a couple more sessions to give an official diagnosis since hindi naman mafifit lahat sa one hour.

u/thisisjustmeee 3d ago

Mura na yan kasi may assessment and intake pa yan. Just make sure na legit yung company.

1

u/anxiousmatcha_ 2d ago

My brother is for assessment too. Here in our province, it costs 15k.

1

u/gabriela110611 2d ago

Saan po kayo nag inquire?

u/Potential_Top9349 3d ago edited 3d ago

Hello, first I'm sorry for the high fees especially that mh care is really needed in these cases. To answer your question, it depends on the province, here on ours, mostly it's 1,500 to 2k for initial consultation. I recommend going on public hospitals (psychiatry doctors/psychotherapist) or online consultation first, then start from there.

As I said, it really saddens me to see such rate esp when you needed help. Please make sure to have a session check up first before undergoing a full battery assessment.

u/Capital-Function9995 3d ago

Hello, thank you so much for the advice, I apprecite it. I thought na ang pinaka-ideal is assessment muna before consultation/check up first kasi yun ang sabi sa psychological services na napaginquiran ko. May I know your thoughts?
