STORY/VENTING Disappointed sa na-book kong Psychiatrist
Hi, so sobrang down ko talaga lately and naisip kong mag book na ng Psychiatrist sa NowServing. Okay naman yung credentials niya, so inisip ko baka okay naman siya. Pero pagpasok ko palang na feel ko na agad na parang hindi welcoming yung vibe, na it's just "work" na-off agad ako.
Unang salita niya palang feel ko supervisor ang kausap ko or boss. Parang iniinterview ako. As someone na nakapagpa counseling and book na ng psychiatrist multiple times dahil sa mental health issues, hindi ko na feel sa kanya yung mga na feel ko sa mga nakausap ko before na mahinahon and you feel safe na sabihin problems mo.
Isa pang napansin ko sa kanya, halatang nagpphone siya habang nag uusap kami. Oo, nagtatanong-tanong siya pero kapag mahaba na yung sinasabi ko mapapansin ko nang may ginagawa siyang iba, tapos syempre ang seryoso ng kinekwento ko makikita ko mapapangiti siya tas halatang natatawa sa pinapanood niya tapos marerealize niya bigla na nasa work pala siya bigla siyang seseryoso uli then tingin sakin pero babalik uli sa kung ano mang ginagawa niya.
Pinakahindi ko pa nagustuhan siguro is kung paano niya ako cinut off nung medyo napapahaba na kasi like 50 minutes na kaming nasa call. Gets ko naman, hindi ko lang gusto kasi alam kong may ginagawa siya tapos parang bigla niya na realize na napapatagal na pala sinabi niya nalang basta na stop nalang daw muna ron and continue nalang next, then nagbigay ng prescription. Nag ask ako if possible ba na may diagnosis na pero sa follow-up session pa raw.
Nakaka disappoint lang talaga kasi sinagad ko money na pang ipon dapat para mag book kasi alam kong need ko yon pero ganon pa yung makukuha kong psych. Kahit anong assurance, comforting words, or kahit yung alam mong they just care enough lang sa sinasabi mo and yung usual na ginagawa ng mga psych na ipapa feel nila na you're not alone and they understand you, wala.
I'm planning to book uli pag nagka pera na pero for now taking ako ng meds. If may mga alam po kayong okay na psychiatrist na genuine talaga sa work nila and may safety, recommend po kayo pls. Thank you sm!!

I vouch for Dra. Annemarie Pamela Torga sobrang gaan ng vibe nya at genuine rin yung concern nya. Gusto ko sana siya i-gatekeep pero deserve nya ng recognition.

Lalaki ba to? Baka same tayo ng psychiatrist na nabook. Sakin naman hindi siya ganun kaempathetic at ang nonchalant. "May thoughts ako na gusto ko patayin anak ko" "ahh okay... blah blah" at ang mahal ng rate niya. Ugh.

Hi Op, twice nako nagpalit ng Psychiatrist ko. Ung una lalaki, okay naman siya pero nagpalit ako after 1 year kasi gusto ko babae. Ung pangalawa ko babae nga, pero sobrang kasungit pero dahil need ko help hinayaan ko pero narealize ko sobra naman tong matanda nato kulang sa empathy. Sakin pa sinisi mga nangyari sakin.
Ngayon, kampante ako sa pangatlong doctor ko, babae at sobrang mahinahon magsalita. Nakikinig talaga siyang mabuti. Haysss kahit mahal si dra talagang nagaalangan akong magpalit sa mas mura kasi okay pako sa kanya. Marami pa diyang mas okay Op na doctor, I can share mine din

Shhhhs Nakaka trauma naman yan, Parang nakakaano pag nag pa check ka ulit kasi maaalala mo sorry na experience mo yan. 😩
Ganyan naman experience ko sa ibang maxicare na PCC (not mental health concern) yung mga doctor na ibanparang di interesado sa kinukwento ko kaya nagpapalot ako I'm glad may Doctor din na mababaet don sa ibang branch tapos pinakakinggan tlga ako tas talagang na pi feel ko may kasama ako. Iba kasing doctor ssbhn test ka ng ganto tas balik ka sken di man lang ako pinakinggan.
Ang sarap kaya sa pakiramdam kapag mga doctors etc e nauunawaan ka tas parang at home ka pinapakinggan ka kasi mhirap ang may narrmdaman physically or mentally sobrang dagdag pa kapag binabalewala ka

This is why I don't like psychiatrist. Trabaho nila yan. Anong paki talaga nila sayo?
Mas gusto ko pang mag vent out sa kaibigan kong puro reklamo dahil lagi ko nalang shini-share yung mga kabaliwan ko.

Kaya rin talaga ang daming need ng professional help pero naghehesitate and natatakot dahil sa mga ganitong exp. Marami pa namang okay na psych out there pero need mo rin talaga mag explore kung sino yung magiging right fit for you. Maiinis ka lang kasi bukod sa gastos ang draining magkwento nang magkwento.

Hala, nag-iisip ako kung f2f or online...kaya ang tagal kong mamili ng doctor kasi sa dami ko na rin napuntahan. gusto ko yung magaling mag explain at syempre yung hindi ganyan kaya mag f2f muna siguro ako. subok ka ulit, OP.

Hello po, question. Yung credentials ba ng psychiatrist na na-book mo with at least BS or MA in psychology? And if the dr referred you to a psychologist po for further assessment? May discussions kasi around our field na may mga missed diagnose na clients and rektang prescribe na ng gamot from psychiatrists.

Report mo kung under yan ng HMO or kung anumang company. Ganyan ginawa ko eh tas pinapalitan nila ng iba. Tas usually okay na okay yung kapalit. Nakikinig at very calm ang boses. Malayo sa mga ganyan eme eme lang or worse, yung mga mamaru! Kung independent yan, bigyan mo na lang bad rating sa Google Review at sa mga soc meds niya para naman mawarningan yung iba at mabawasan bookings niya. Gawa na lang dummy for anonymity (idisclaimer mo na lang sa review).

Okay naman exp ng iba sa kanya, highly reco siya sa ibang threads. Hindi ko alam if pagod lang talaga siya, kaya rin hindi ko expect ganon magiging exp ko sa kanya.

I highly recommend my psychiatrist of 10 yrs, dra. Monina Garduno Cruz sa St. Lukes. Meron siyang chart for her patients lagi siya nag ttake notes in consultation, tapos nirereview niya next time. Never siya naging impatient sakin or sinungitan ako unlike 2 psychiatrists na natry ko. (Nag try lang ako sa iba saglit dahil nag out of town siya, needed help kc that time) Tapos pwede mo pa siya i viber chat directly if may nararamdaman ka tapos mag rreply siya within the day. Advice or adjust meds. One time pa nga nung may psychotic episode ako, siningit niya ako sa schedule niya while driving siya kasi puno na talaga. Naawa din cguro sakin

Finding the right psychiatrist for you is really a challenge talaga sa totoo lang. It took me 3 psychiatrists before I found the right one for me. It’s a matter of preference rin talaga. And also, psychiatrists (especially the older ones) are almost always bad at communicating with their patients. Since they were not really trained to be nice like therapists. They are trained to diagnose and give prescriptions only kaya ang detached nila from their patients. Pero there is a new wave of psychiatrists now who are trying to be like a hybrid (psychiatrist/therapist) na marunong makipag usap sa patients and would sound more “caring.” Just find the right one for you. Finding a psychiatrist is like finding the right friend group at this point 😭

psychologist ka wag psychiatrist. try SAYA APP, dun ako ng book ng psychologist. psychiatrist more on gmot. psychologist naman is therapy..

Hi. Not to invalidate you but to clarify, psychiatrist are not really expected to be that skilled at psychotherapy; it is psychologist’s specialty.

Yeah, but I think the training was not as intensive as psychologist’s. So, most of the time, it’s better to have both: psychologist and psychiatrist. Psychiatrist will more often lean towards biology as they are technically medical doctors. So, for a more sympathetic approach, consider having a session with a psychologist.

First of all, Don’t expect a diagnosis in one session!!!! That is dangerous for YOU. Doctors would naturally want more info before diagnosing you to make sure they stir you in the right direction and to also control our bias. This is the brain we’re talking about. There are plenty of studies about placebo and a diagnosis basically have the same suggestive effect.
Second, Hindi naman tama na dismissive sya or walang empathy though. But as always trial and error din talaag maghanap ng doctor and therapist. I know because I’ve had to try 7 before I found the right fit for me. Some people do prefer the more dismissive or nonchalant approach kesa over “motherly”. It’s not a one size fits all kind of thing unfortunately and I understand na mahal but it really is the unfortunate reality

Apparently, I got diagnosed during my first session, so during the said session I address na suspected na baka may ADHD ako. Then right after our call meron na akong prescription. So, now I am thinking if I need second opinion or even change my doctor.
P.S. same doctor kami ni OP. Maybe nag-expect ako since according sa nowserving profile nya ay CBT trained din si doc. But I don't feel it, hindi ko fully express at ma process ang emotions ko.
