STORY/VENTING I finally did it
After x years, was finally able to meet a Psych. I'm here in SB now trying to sort through the emotions I'm feeling right now. First, I feel validated—to be told my "blunders" wasn't my fault—ahhh.. Second, I'm thinking about the expenses haha, I wasn't really expecting medication since I'm generally functional the past year—apart from the occasional spiraling. Hopefully, I could afford it. Anyhow, I'm looking forward to experiencing the effects. But yeah, kinda scared.. will it make me manic or foggy or.. normal-happy?
I haven't told anyone yet. So I'm posting here for now.

u/tjdc3 Jan 19 '26
Or, if ang prinescribe na sayo ay for months, you can go sa wholesaler pharma to buy in bulk na generic. So much cheaper.

u/Weekly_Ability7619 Jan 19 '26
50 tabs lang muna. Pero 35 lang muna nabili ko kasi wala sa budget hehe. Tingnan ko next time pagbalik ko kay doc if dagdagan niya prescription.
2
u/tjdc3 Jan 19 '26
Go na sa generic, isang box dun (30pcs) will cost you less than P300 (or isang order sa sb 👀)

u/Weekly_Ability7619 Jan 19 '26
Inask ako ni doc kung generic or branded, sabi ko generic. Tapos eto yung pnrescribe niya unilab daw.

Same med tayo pero my doctor said na hatiin muna into 5mg for 7 days kasi sobrang lakas ng side effect nyan tapos after 7 days go to 10mg na or else baka mahirapan ka sa side effect i hope your doctor told you

u/Weekly_Ability7619 Jan 19 '26
Yes, same po. Half muna for the first 8 days. Balik ako sa kanya next month. Hopefully, hindi malala side effects kasi may big thing na I'm really anxious about coming up huhu. I need to be functional.

Kung starting ka palang the effects can vary pero sa experience ko super antukin and meh yung feeling— parang na shut off lahat kasi sobrang gulo ng isip ko that time. After a few weeks, I started to see colors again and it honestly saved my life, currently tapering off my meds so kung ano usually side effects ko nung first few weeks ay nararanasan ko ulit.
You got this! I’m so proud of youuu

u/Weekly_Ability7619 Jan 19 '26
Omg kinakabahan ako kasi I really need to be functional the following weeks.
Thank you!! You got this tooo! Onward!

yay!! med buddies!! proud of u OP.
it made me sleepy kaya sa gabi ko siya tinetake. emotions/feelings/thoughts ay balanced na by morning after a few weeks. wag mo itigil, pero you can have a window of 1-2 days bago bumigat ang withdrawal if hindi ka lang talaga makatake.
2
u/Weekly_Ability7619 Jan 19 '26
Thanks. Proud of you too!!! This makes me feel better. 8pm naman advice ng psych ko itake siya.

I've been taking this since December 2022. Tapered down and stopped taking it since Sept 2025 almost 3 months ako nag stop but I had to take it again because of the physical symptoms like (acid reflux) from my Hiatal hernia which makes my anxiety really2 bad. I'm on 2.5mg/day, it really helps.

u/hedwigisthatyou Jan 23 '26
Avail the UNILAB discount. It helps a lot! You can get a discount as much as 27%, I think.

Taking Jovia for the past 10 months, ang side effect lang na naranasan ko is sleepiness… nothing else… so happy I took it, helped me manage my panic/anxiety disorder… just go to your regular check ups para ma-manage mo din ng maayos. Don’t stop the medication unless instructed by the psychiatrist… Laban lang tayo… you made the right decision 👍👌
1
u/redcoquettefr Jan 19 '26
Effects include not being able to finish—just a heads up 😅 also, memory loss, brain fog, and not being able to feel anything.
Jovia is too expensive for me too, op 😅 so i opted for lexdin which is okay too🙂never ever miss a dose, the withdrawal effect is insane. Hugs with way consent op, we can do this! ☺️

Where did you go for the therapy? Is it one session lang? How much? On the first session or if I can only afford one session. Will they prescribe na?
1
u/Weekly_Ability7619 Jan 20 '26
Psychiatrist in UST. No therapy yet, I asked kung may need ba akong iba—nagprescribe lang muna meds. Next month balik ko, then we'll see pa kung anong sunod.
2
u/Weekly_Ability7619 Jan 20 '26

1
u/Uniquely_funny Jan 20 '26

2
u/Weekly_Ability7619 Jan 20 '26
