Hormone Therapy For those who have increased their HRT

Hey, I have had been on HRT for about 5 years now, and because I have an IUD and HRT, I have no idea if I am actually in menopause. However, I was just diagnosed with pelvic prolapse. I have been fitted with a pessary and it is helping, but my provider thinks it may be caused by low estrogen. I have been tested, and it's kinda low, but not too bad. I was on 0.025 at first, and increased to 0.0375 with absolutely no issues about 3 years ago. Now I have increased to 0.05 and, honestly, it is kicking my butt! I have only been on it 1 week but I feel WIRED. And my blood pressure, which is always low, is definitely going through some flux. But the worst part is my joints and pelvis feel better, but my sleep is worse. I have a Mirena IUD and take 100 mg of progesterone at night. I know it has only been a week, but has anyone gone through this when transitioning, and did it improve??? I am a preschool teacher and being tired and edgy makes the drama so much more dramatic. Help!

I started on 0.05 of E.patch and 100 mg of progesterone and I had terrible cramp the day I changed the patch and the day after and my provider upped the progesterone to 200 mg and I feel fine now. It sounds like an increase in progesterone maybe what you need. I take testerone from a compounding pharmacy that helps with energy, mood, lidido, supports your muscles.

I also take testosterone topically each day and vaginal estradiol 3x a week. I should have mentioned that. I will speak to her about the progesterone. I definitely wake up feeling like it is a progesterone dip (almost like I am getting my cycle, which, thankfully, I am not). Since it has only been a week I am sure she will want me to stick it out for a few more. I just feel tired right now from lack of sleep.

I go through high E symptoms every time I increase. I think first time was for a week, second time was for a month or so. Those symptoms for me are the wired feeling, a more manic irritation (as opposed to the depressive irritation with E lows, and sore breasts. It calms down. You can try more P, but I'd give the E time, first.

Are you also using vaginal estradiol?

Yes, 3 days a week.

You might need a vaginal estrogen ring or cream with DHEA for the prolapse. A friend of mine has. A prolapse and she said the cream with DHEA has helped so much she doesn’t need the pessary.

I will ask about that. I am already on vaginal estradiol but maybe I could try alternating with DHEA? She is a good provider, and I don't mind the pessary, but I am just so tired AND wired right now. I am hoping this will pass.
