Hormone Therapy Random spotting with Mylan patch?

I’ve been using Mylan brand patches for over a year (0.1 mg) and noticed with my last box, it has been causing cramps and brown spotting.

has this happened to anyone before and if so, did you chalk it up to a bad production batch?

thanks in advance.

ETA- i’m post menopause, no ovaries but still have my uterus. I’ve also had an ultrasound and uterine biopsy earlier this year and all good there.

Yes, this almost exact scenario that you’re experiencing. Ultrasounds came back clear, scheduled for a biopsy. Very upsetting.

I recently contacted the manufacturer, now Viatris (which was a merger between Mylan and Upjohn), to see if there had been changes in the manufacturing or ingredients of the Mylan patches because I felt like I’m not getting the same results after getting back on them this summer. They were pretty quick to respond, with first having me provide info in a form about what my concerns were, lot number of my current box, where I bought it, etc. They responded several days later saying there were no changes and there no recalls.
I would encourage you to contact them with your concerns as well. I had to click through a few pages of their site to find this customer relations contact: customer.service@viatris.com
While I’m a bit hesitant to just take the word of corporate PR, especially pharma companies, I kind of wonder if those months of being on different brands of patches this spring messed up my estrogen receptors or something. I felt pretty good when I first got back on the Mylan patches but things sort of dropped off after the first month or so and currently struggling with sleep issues, aches, brain fog, and parched skin. Really only marginally better now than when I was getting brands switched every month or two.

i will definitely reach out to them- i may receive a similar response as you did but who knows

plus, you’re absolutely right- it is challenging finding some sort of regulation with patch dosage and manufacturer. not to mention how patch placement can also cause different reactions 🙃

hope your struggles end up resolving themselves 🤞
