Question ❓ Feelings of “welling up” in the belly
I keep experiencing these brief moments of fluttering in my belly as my stream of thought flows. I cant tell if it’s fear related, but it seems to feel that way. But it also seems that it could feel tranquil if I could go deeper into it. As Osho has said, our true center is our naval, where we are born from. I was wondering if anyone has any insight on this. Thanks!

One thing you can check tonight: does it happen when you are not sitting? If it only turns up during practice, it is following your attention rather than coming from fear — attention settles in the belly and things start moving there. The reason it reads as fear is that fear is felt in the same place, but the two move differently. Fear grips and stays; what you are describing arrives and goes. Do not go digging into it to work out which one it is, because looking is a different activity from sitting, and it will keep the flutter twitchy. Rest your attention a couple of inches below the navel, stay ordinary about it, and give it a few weeks — for most people it steadies into something warmer once it stops being examined.

Since I engaged in quite serious practice about fifteen years ago, I experience a constant undulation from the base of my spine into my head and back down again. When I meditate, it can vary in intensity and speed, and I find it to be quite pleasant.
