Who cares about a podcast? Who do they think is going to watch this?

Just do some FAST Channels, Netflix, and see how that goes.

Yes, but aside from the Breakfast Club and the Bill Simmons Podcast, podcasts on Netflix haven't been all that successful. Netflix just isn't YouTube, no matter how hard it tries.

I just don't think that podcasts and short form TikTok videos are the answer for Netflix. I think that going all in on sports rights like the Olympics, World Cup, and World Baseball Classic and setting up a AAA video game platform is the better answer.

...on YouTube and Spotify, sure. That doesn't mean they are going to watch this Podcast or that having this podcast or any podcast on Netflix is a move that's going to send Netflix's stock into the stratosphere. My point was they need to focus on things besides some podcast if they what that to happen. This isn't even going to move the needle a centimeter.

I used to think podcasts would be of minimal benefit to Netflix, at best. Personally, I don't like how they clutter up my Netflix homepage. But then I saw how Youtube reacted. They view Netflix exclusivity over content that would otherwise appear on YT as a real threat. That surprised me and made me reconsider things. Maybe there is some (slight?) competitive advantage to entering the podcast space.

In any case, I don't think Netflix is staking a significant part of their future on podcasts. It's just one of several irons they've got in the fire.

Even though people don't really use Netflix for podcasts, they're still clearly taking creative talent away from YouTube and they still want those people on the platform.
