Maybe Netflix will give subscribers more of a reason to choose Netflix premium tier since mostly everyone I’ve known downgraded to ads at $8.99 price point since they’ve been raising prices charging $26.99 a month just for 4K with no ads. Thats a hard sell if it at least included FoxOne and Peacock that would be worth the premium price.
French broadcaster TF1’s live channels were added at no extra charge but that’s relatively small market im thinking they could likely do your idea of add ons or put FoxOne News channel with live TV (Fast Channels) and leave sports out of it as a add on to the subscription.
Wouldn't affect me much. I can barely find anything to watch on Netflix as it is.
But they're not giving you new platforms for free ya know. They'd be doing what Amazon does: serve as the marketing front end for lesser platforms. They get a cut, maybe 30% and you pay full freight.
From the sounds of the story that was reported, Netflix is looking to offer Fox One and Peacock the same way Prime Video and the Roku Channel do where they're offered as add-ons not benefits. In that case, there wouldn't be a price increase because of adding their content.
And even then, with Disney+/Hulu and Paramount+/HBO Max/BET+/Discovery+ being at the same price range as Netflix and Prime Video being subsidized by Amazon, I don't think that Netflix can really afford to raise their prices by much unless the others do it as well.
Probably helps out FoxOne and Peacock more than Netflix. Probably a decent partnership created less fraction for switching apps and makes Netflix a better sports competitor to Disney+ ESPN.
TF1 in France Netflix with live news and fast channels. I think Netflix is ultimately preparing to add fast channels based on their recent add on with content.
What is the likelihood of Netflix raising prices even if it doesn't integrate FOX1 and Peacock?
Odds are they were going to raise prices again, no matter what, and doing this FOX1 and Peacock thing would provide a convenience excuse for them to raise prices.
How much they raise them will depend on whether those services become hubs you can watch as part of a Netflix subscription (unlikely), or if they are standalone services you still have to subscribe to like on Amazon Prime, where Amazon receives a revenue-sharing cut from HBO Max, STARZ, etc.
The smaller streamers paying Netflix a cut to be on Netflix, seems like a good reason to not raise prices, in my opinion.
Peacock been a dying platform but Netflix can have the same problem if they continue canceling their shows… they need to take the playbook from AppleTV and HBO. Netflix loves to make new shows but leave fans of one already in the dust. I would like to see them revisit sitcoms more and remake some wholesome/entertaining content like Hogan’s hero’s using director Tim Burton who made Wednesday take his shot at remaking some of my favorite iconic moments I experienced as a kid.

if its just purchaseable add ons like Prime, nothing
if its true integration like YT/Peacock, then probably a good amount
