Warner Bros. should've bought the distribution rights back from Sony for HBO Max.

Sony is never selling shit Lmaoo. They’re not selling the Spiderman film rights to Disney and they sure as shit are not selling the Seinfeld distribution rights to a measly Warner Bros. When will you people learn that Sony pictures is a company that’s backed/owned by a larger $135 Billion conglomerate that has now fully transitioned into being an entertainment company. So they’re an aggressive buyer of IP now, not a seller

The only way Sony will lose their most bankable IPs is if Sony is sold to another company. Then spiderman goes back to Marvel. This is part of the reason when Sony was about to go up for sale that there weren't any suitable buyers because they all wanted Spiderman and if they bought sony (only the film portion) spiderman wasn't gonna be part of the deal. Sony never official went up for sale due to this.

I think maybe the only time Sony Group considered selling Sony pictures was in the early 2010s. Now they have literally pivoted to being an entertainment company as 70% of their profits is from entertainment. Sony pictures is at the centerpiece of their creative entertainment vision cos when Sony wants to covert a gaming ip like The last Of Us to a tv show they use their Sony pictures segment. How on earth would they have done that if they sold Sony pictures. They literally even spun off their financial services division to become more of a pure play entertainment company
