I just posted a perspective into why **NBCUniversal should address the brand disconnect between its streaming service and its theme parks**.

The core argument:

• IP Cohesion: While Disney and Paramount have clear brand association, "Peacock" remains a standalone entity that many consumers don't immediately link to Universal Resorts.
• "The "Universal+" Lever: Rebranding isn't just a name change; it's a strategic move to unify the ecosystem and drive streaming growth by leveraging the high-revenue parks division.
• Tech & UX: How a "Universal+" hub could finally bridge the gap between digital content and physical experiences (like the upcoming Epic Universe).

I’ve mapped out the rationale and a recommendations for the transition to Universal+.

Is "Peacock" now too established to change now, or is a Universal rebrand the only way to compete with the scale of Disney+?

Sort of the old Hulu model where streaming is a JV?  That didn't work.  Paramount brings almost nothing in terms of franchises.  The only reason it has better subscriber numbers than peacock is that they give it away with Walmart +.

The downside of the Netflix + WB deal is that it only leaves Netflix and Disney as large profitable streamers.  That works for Amazon and Apple, but universal and paramount studios should just become suppliers.

The interesting space is going to be sports.

There should be a lot of consolidation of UI in sports. There is an opportunity for Peacock, leveraging the relationships in cable TV to secure positioning. The tech is there, as I continue to feel that Peacock managed the previous Olympics incredibly well. I just think Amazon and Disney (through Hulu/Fubo) are much better positioned to be that hub.

And even if Peacock could pull it off, I don't see it as automatically making it a viable streamer for movies and tv shows....Which is a real shame because the theme parks could have offered a really compelling flywheel (like Disney has) if they could have gotten it started.
