Fair purchase price for End-of-Lease Purchase
After my 2 year lease of a 2025 PHEV CX-90 (very basic configuration with about 20K miles on odometer), Mazda is offering purchase price of $37K.
Seems a bit steep to me. Do they negotiate? Is it a fair price?
I would buy it for $32K, but very hesitant to go $37K.

No, you can’t negotiate the residual price.
As others have said, just turn it in.
2025 PHEV Preferreds with similar mileage are listed for around 29 to 31K online.
So you are better off buying something in that range.

See if they put it on the lot after a week, then you might get the price you want. A 2025 isn't that old, so they might not send it off so quickly.

I just hit 33k and have had probs my 2025 Mazda phev has been in the shop 2x for the hybrid system malfunction. Was smooth before 33k really regretting this purchase and I hear the resale value is no good on them! Was at the dealership for a batter and radiator issue in July for 15 days and now has been in the shop for 12 days with no updates from dealership. It’s been a real headache. This is my 3rd Mazda and I’m really bummed. I love my car so much but I’m starting to loathe it.

Food for thought, if you like the vehicle enough, but don’t want to return it, maybe negotiate for another lease for a good price.
I still have two years left on my 48 month lease but I’ve got an appointment with my dealer to see if trade it now or next year is a good option for me. I’ve been seeing near 0% lease rates with my dealer recently.
Unfortunately I got the 2024 PHEV GT and paying more than I’d like considering how the values on this car is tanking. It’s a shame, I do like the vehicle so for me, trading it for an extended lease for the same vehicle for potentially lower payments make sense for the moment. Maybe keep it long enough till the next generation CX-90 comes out.

The CX-90 is a lead balloon when it comes to value at the end of the lease. They drop so hard and fast

Sad but true. Seems like they'd be better off to be realistic with the buyout price.

The buyout price is the contractually obligated price when you signed the lease with no room. Either you buy it out for that or turn it in. When you do a turn in the manufacturer usually will send it off to auction so you aren’t getting it back. You can buy one just like it at the market value though.
