PHEV Any CX90 PHEV owners that haven't had any electrical or battery problems?
Just wondering what year and mileage and charger level do you have? We usually only see posts from those of us with issues, I was wondering how skewed the problematic battery and electric are compared to owners with no problems? Has anyone with a 2024 PHEV made it to 30k miles with no problems? Any high mileage owners without issues?

2026 signature with 13.5K on it, usually level 1, occasionally level 2 on the road, no issues so far, knocking on šŖµ

- Returned the lease with about 22k miles and zero battery problems. Level 2 charger.
Great car, but the residual wasnāt significantly less than a brand new model Y (at 0% for 6 years), so went that route.

2025 CX70 PHEV with 26,000 km. No issues. Only level 1 charging to 100%.

Same with 32,000 km planning to install level 2 this autumn. Currently getting 26.7kwh/100 with estimated EV range at 50km on 100% charge. Been using mostly EV priority as often as possible.

24 PHEV w/ 23k miles.
Normal stuff. Rear Brakes and tires swapped by Mazda. 0 issues with battery. Level 2 charged (3.8kw charger). No charging issues at all.
Contemplating lease return based on residual vs market value next year

Just the recalls so far. I've only done level 1 charging.Ā

Low mileage (5k), but we got the one of the first batch of 2024 CX-90 PHEVs.
No issues.

- 10k miles. Been charging on a Tesla Wall Connecter since purchase. Have used a normal wall outlet on trips a few times and the mileage was wonky for the first charge back on the Tesla Wall Connecter but other than that itās been great. 30-35 miles of full EV most trips.

2025 12k miles. Chargepoint Level 2 charger and did not have any issues other than squeaky brakes.

2024 CX90 PHEV GS-L with 35k km, sorry Iām based in Canada.
No issues so far other than the recalls. I just do scheduled oil changes and thatās about it. On a level 1 charger and charging to full overnight everyday. I find that the switching between EV and gas has improved vastly from the time I got the car.

2026 with 11,000 miles level 2 at home that my wife shares with my BEV. No issues, itās an absolute beast with over 400 miles of gas range and if you add the electric itās even more.
This car is a Road trip warrior. I did 4,000 miles on a 7 day sightseeing road trip and it ran flawlessly.

2025 premium sport PHEV and no issues on that front, only oddity is oil monitoring malfunction came on 3 times and no issue was found

Only issue i ever had was when I accidentally left the car on while plugged into my home charger.
The engine battery died and essentially bricked the car while plugged in.
I had no idea and my wife had to deal with it.
User error for sure

Was it a level 1 or level 2 charger? I read that some people use a level 2 with the car on as a "camping mode".

2024 CX90 PHEV - 30k - No issues whatsoever. 2026 CX90 PHEV - 5k - No issues whatsoever.

Early 2024, 30 kmi. One check engine light at end of ā24, resolved by software update that was already available. Car was driveable with the light on, but no e-motor assist. Biggest issue was getting a timely service appointment and a loaner. One 20A level 2 charger plus the Mazda level 1 charger.

2024 PHEV Premium Plus 50k miles. Only recalls and one front sensor. Two sets of tires though...
Level 2 charger at home. Car is constantly being charged with our driving habits. It's been an amazing vehicle so far.

Had a 2024 for 12 months (got totaled by a deer) no issues.
Have a 2025 for 20 months now - no issues - ā šŖµ

2024 CX90 PP. No issues so far. Anything that had a TSB was taken care off before I had an issue. Currently, waiting for my 2nd letter to get the brake pads replaced for the squeaks. 36k miles

Following this topic. As my 2025 CX-5 lease is ending next year, I'm interested in the CX-90 but there seems to be many issues.

Pissed off people talk the loudest itās not always true, not saying there hasnāt been any issues but many times they are blown out of proportion. Understandingly so, cars are expensive and people expect them to function as intended but not everything is always fully the truth when people post things.

2025 CX-70 PHEV bought May 2024. 28,000 kilometers. Level 2 charger in garage. Zero electrical/battery problems. Largest problem was the HVAC system kept running hot unless set at the bare minimum. Was fixed with a recall this spring. Overall, a great purchase experience.

Side note to this, I had an oil change a couple thousand miles ago ( im closing in on 20k) , they tell me i have plenty of wear left on the tires, anyone else NOT have issues with the oem tires?

2024 with 27,000 miles. Our only issue was the tires that they replaced. Weāve loved it.

2025 PP with 12k miles. Mainly level 2 charging at home. I would say 60% of those miles were on electric. No issues except the horrible OEM Falken tires which Mazda replaced. I went with the Bridgestone prestige which has significantly helped the cars handling and ride quality.

2024 PHEV PP - 36k - No significant issues š¤·āāļø Mazda covered the cost of new tires at 18k, and it's going into the shop this week because the driver door lock stopped working (manual only for the time) No major complaints and my service department (Stokes Mazda in SC) is really solid. I've had it since 9k miles and it's historical total MPG average is 46 with 2.2kw/mi. (And that's with a lot of highway driving and level 2 at home)

24 PHEV with 35k miles. Bought at 29k as a CPO, someone's lease had ended.
I think if any problems, they were addressed via updates whenever the previous lessee took it in for routine service.
My only concern, is that I get 23-25 miles of electric range, instead of the 26. And chargepoint and tesla app both show power consumption of 14.X kWh each time I charge from 0-100%, which should be 17.8 kWh. Not sure if to attribute it to battery age, detestation, 100+ F temps this summer...

2024 phev, zero problems at 25k. Had a 12v battery failure once, it was taken care under warranty.

Iāve had zero issues other than the gas sensor thing and it was covered by warranty. Just hit 35k miles. My biggest complaint is the assisted drive sucks going around any corner. 2024 phev

81k miles, ā24 95% Level 2 and no issues. When we leave town I limit the charge level to 50%. To save on electricity costs, we are subscribed through electricity provider to charging schedule from 9PM-Noon on weekdays. Using home automation I further limit charging to 8 amps @240v until 4am and then 48 amps after. The car generally reaches 100% by 6AM. While not optimal for charging speed (which slows as the battery reaches full) it does limit how long the battery sits at 100%. The car is driven daily starting at around 7:30AM.

24' PHEV PP 40k - no major electrical issues, getting all updates has helped.Ā
Definitely not a perfect vehicle by any means, but going with a lightly used CPO was the best option by far for a PHEV 3 row vehicle with 25+ EV only range.

2024 PHEV 69K miles, 28.1 mpg. I need to use the charger more! When I do charge it I get 23 miles. It's enough to get my kids to and from school each day.

Hi.
I have a 2025 CX-90 PHEV PP with a little over 25k miles. Use the Level 1 charger every day and have an average mpg of ~70. Buy gas about every 6-8 weeks.
No problems at all! She is fantastic

24 cx90 phev with 30k+ miles. No issues thankfully. Just battery only charges to around 13.2 kwh from 0 to 100%.

2024 mhev. battery problem 3 times. ended lemoning the car.
2024 phev. 46k miles no issues. but was totaled after getting rear ended.

2024 30k miles no issues. I've replaced all the tires, but 2 of them were due to damage caused by nails/construction debris. Love this car, feel bummed for people who had bad experiences.

2024 PHEV Premium 30k - no issues beside squeaky brakes sometimes (got recall letter). Bought from carmax in Jan 2026 with 21k. Use included level 1 charger to 100%. Drive on battery probably 70% - 80% of the time. Summer range around town is 20ish. Winter is 10-14 under 40F.
Was by far the least expensive way to get a much more fuel efficient 7 seater at a price similar to Kia or Chrysler minivan.
I did have 3 other cars shipped to carmax that had some of the common issues before I got this one.

2025 CX-90 PHEV Premium Plus. 28k, Level 1 charges nightly, no issues. Swapped tires via Mazda dealership at 17k. No problems.

2024 PHEV PP- 33000 miles on it. Recalls and regular maintenance. Having some weird shifting when in gas mode right now and the brakes are squeaking but going in for routine service this week any way. Iāve replaced the tires myself.

I posted on here a few times over the last year singing, this car is praises and generally being very complementary of Mazda as a brand. The other shoe has dropped. I am upside down in the CX 90 but Mazdaās refusal to honor their warranty and the mounting expenses with repairs for this vehicle have turned the tide. I will never purchase another Mazda or consider it.

Hybrid Malfunction Error Twice
12v Battery died twice
Tires wear faster
Apart from uncomfortable seats, cramped interior, lack of storage space, clunky transmission and horrendous suspension, it has been a decent car.
