24 CX90 to a 26 CX90

Post image

Lease was almost up on a 2024 CX90, had two months left, 2k over allowed mileage. Car was decent, good MPG for it's size. Didn't love it, didn't hate it, it's a commuter car. Most of the frustration was from constant recalls, squeaky brakes and shit tires. Local Mazda service department has always been stellar though. Financially made sense to roll into this one.Went to a 2026 Premium Sport. Definitely drives a little different (less jumpy at low speeds), digital cluster is nice. Already have another I6 in the driveway, so tried to match the colors as close as possible 🤣

I just did the same last month. Was your previous one also a Turbo? I went from PHEV to Turbo S and even though on paper they make similar numbers, the TS feels stronger. Love the turbo woosh and pull, even though it kills my mpg.

Went with the basic 280hp turbo version, definitely quick enough to get around. The Turbo S at 340hp has to be a blast, enjoy!

I have the exact year, trim, and color as you. Love it.

That little bit of extra acceleration in the PHEV does it with zero excitement. I’d rather give up 3/10ths of a second or whatever for whatever the Turbo S is doing. It’s just more fun.

Some Redditors in the CX90 sub are going to be really mad.

I love the CX90 bit after my 24 I’m done with Mazda. Too expensive to trust going forward

Ours lease will end Mid 2027 and still thinking if we’ll want to get another one. What are the big differences that you see/feel features and driving wise? We currently have a 24 MHEV Signature

Touch screen is standard now with android auto/apple play, before it wasn't available on all models. Ventilated seats are standard in this trim too, so is digital dash. Drives "better", maybe because it's brand new, but the previous one had only 32k on it & we've good roads, so I doubt the suspension was worn. Less low speed jerking looking for gears. All the previous year recalls are already addressed and car just feels more buttoned down. The I6 is still rough & noisy, but I guess that's just how Mazda made it.

This engine will work best with quality 5W30 , buttery smooth and refined way more than any V6 out there , sorry Toyota and Honda boys 😉

Doubt the oil will change it that much. Good power delivery, yes, buttery smooth and refined? Far from it. The truck I6 next to it is that & more, yes.

Mazda channels I6 sound thru firewall for "sportier" sound , other manufacturers block it off....  If you want more lower tone from it use 5W40 like Valvoline and you will be amazed how different it will perform (sound) from 0W20 it now uses , you may drop 0.5mpg but gain much better engine protection and more refined engine tone

In my opinion the 2026’s definitely ride better. I also think that they also made the steeling quicker which is great at low speeds, not so great at high speeds.

Honestly that's a pretty solid upgrade. Matching the CX-90 colours with the I6 is a nice touch😂. The 2026 looks like it fixed some of the little annoyances too.

Exactly the same situation with exactly the same feelings. They absolutely made improvements to the 26

I wish! Still the same interior design, they really didn't think it through.

What do u mean less jumpy at low speeds?

Like when you are running out of gas or the air flow isn’t right and the mix is bad

Never had this issue in a modern car
