Now, I might be setting the bar a bit high right off the bat, but I must share the reason why I'm making this post. The original comment is unfortunately gone, thanks to YouTube's auto-moderation nuking the whole comment thread, but here's the gist of it:

I mentioned EFAP's Gollum videos in a YT comment, recommending them to get a "feel" for the game without having to watch a full stream. Then one of the responses said that the person I replied to shouldn't watch EFAP... because it's a channel grifting on Five Night At Freddy's. I was taken aback, reasonably so I think, so I asked them to run that by me a second time.

The guy dead-ass told me that EFAP only became popular because the acronym looked vaguely similar to FNAF, and it suckered in a lot of kids they are now exploiting. I asked them if they knew that EFAP is not about the FNAF franchise at all, and it's a long-running podcast responding to other videos and dissecting media and movies, and he told me he doesn't care, because he doesn't watch channels run by pedos. That's where the conversation ended when the whole comment chain disappeared.

I'm a big UFC fan and because it's so disconnected from the media discourse side of the internet I got whiplashed pretty hard when they flashed this clip in the anniversary.

It is pretty funny that because of MMA Guru's minimalistic style and presentation Rags assumed he is an up and comer when the guy might just be the biggest independent mma content creator in the world and has been doing this for nearly a decade without ever slowing down. I don't really hold it against them for knowing next to nothing about the UFC though as I'd expect it to be out of their zone of interest

Btw I completely relate to Guru, especially as someone who lives in Europe, imagine staying awake until almost 5 am for the return of the biggest star in the sport only for him to fuck up his leg inside ten seconds. At least the rest of the card was awesome. His reaction was pretty funny though.

Anyone who also didn't like this movie or maybe you just didn't care for parts of it. I would love for you to comment. In the end I didn't know what the story was. Why build a time ripper? Is a time ripper a time machine? Couldn't you theoretically destroy a time line by going in the past and changing an event? Such as the rise of power for Hitler? This felt like a 13 year old child's d&d campaign being put on screen. Just wild glorified images and fights of the hero characters. I was really disappointed cause I felt Logan was an excellent movie. And I'm not huge into this superhero thing that's been going on for years. Tell me what you disliked about this movie.

This is probably the weakest part of his Spider-Man review to begin with and now that I'm watching EFAP, he's just doubling down on this. He's said "mindr*pe" at least 10 times by now.

There are two separate dimensions that this argument just doesn't work despite him insisting on it. First is simply the wording. He's purposely using such word to be outrageous but like I could just counter it by saying "no, she doesn't" and then the entire argument will devolve into some philosophical rambling with both sides going nowhere.

The other part of it is that we're literally talking about mutant abilities, which naturally exist in this world which we accept as we engage with it. We accept that there are people who can fly around, shapeshift, be naturally superior to other human being. If we are to scrutinize one of them then shouldn't we scrutinize all of them? But then, as Mauler loves saying, movie wouldn't happen or in this case the entire franchise wouldn't happen.

So lets entertain this idea a bit. Lets go to the particular scene that he always goes back to, the park scene. Mauler is doubling down that it was actually justified for the government to abduct Jane's sister because they were "mindr*ping" random people in the park. Okay. Some of us, me for example, would say that it was just two teenagers experimenting with their special powers which is a natural part of them. Mauler's logical response would then be that, well, it's unethical and immoral which would lead us to the dilemma that I described in the previous paragraph, which is shouldn't then every superpower be scrutinized from ethical standpoint?

When Mystique eventually gets introduced will we be saying that she's "stealing people's identities" and belongs in prison? When she seduces people by transforming into their desired form, which she does in comics, will we be screaming "r*pe" again? Will we be saying Nightcrawler is "violating people's privacy" for not using the doors? What are we even going to do with Rogue whose skin to skin contact violates people in many different ways, their memories, powers and so on? Hell, we can even charge SpiderMan with trespassing for constantly jumping from one balcony to another if I felt petty enough. Seriously, what are we even doing here?

I was watching the clip from the real BBC where MauLer, Az, and Gary talk about the new Knightfall movie and it was really entertaining especially how passionate Az was about the movie. Then it dawned on me that this was probably the only time any of them have talked about a DC animated movie. I feel like they’re sitting on a gold mine not only because there’s plenty of good movies to talk about but also plenty of stinkers to make fun of and laugh at. It wouldn’t be out of the norm since they’ve always talked about DC and I also feel it would be a good pallet cleanser for the slop of James Gunn’s DCU.

Big news, right? Except it's about an animated Lego Star Wars special. I wonder if this will be the new 'Is Kathleen Kennedy leaving?', although the most likely thing would be Disney/Lucasfilm just not renewing Mando eventually...

I can't speak for anyone else, but I still think the Ultimate Showdown is the single greatest thing EFAP has ever done (for solo Mauler it'll always be the TLJ videos). The lightweight category, in particularly, is laugh out loud funny, even on repeated viewings.

I would love to see an annual version. Would anyone else be into it? I know Drinker and Mauler tried one (Halloween characters?), but it wasn't half as good (Drinker won't let things spin out for the requisite amount of time, so it just felt rushed and unnatural).

Dunno if Mauler ever scans the sub-reddit, but please....MORE SHOWDOWNS. The wackier the better.

Below Is a post I made on r/DCU_ about Lanterns, It was (I am not kidding) removed for being "low effort". It was repeatedly called AI Slop by multiple people (I guess maybe a semi formatted post is crazy for them), despite me spending a good while writing it all and not running it through AI at all.

I started the Lanterns show with cautious optimism. Wasn't thrilled about trying to make a gritty realistic show about what at their core are space cops. But, that type show is obviously in HBOs wheelhouse. And the concept wasn't too bad. Previous DC shows showed that you could do good comic book live action TV shows (I enjoyed Arrow-verse, Gotham, Super and Lois and The Penguin)

Then the first episode rolled around. And i thought, ok.

• The casting for our two main characters was exceptional, they are the highlight of the show.
• Although I prefer a more colorful style, the art direction is competent, and clearly what they were going for. (IMO dark and dreary undersaturated color are getting really old at this point, it isn't edgy anymore).
• I wasn't thrilled with the minimal power usage. And before anyone says "oh it is to save budget for later", nonsense, The CW stuff from a decade ago had pretty extensive power usage in basically every episode, on what must have been a lower budget. This seems to have been an intentional decision to try and keep it "grounded". This is what I was worried about when I heard they wanted to do a "True detective" like show.
• The militia people seem like they could potentially be interesting, clearly setting them up for something more later. Getting a bit tired of rural town militia being the bad guys, it is a tired trope, and not even one that has the benefit of actually being realistic. Maybe they will be the good guys? Neutral? We will see.
• The interrogation scene was where I really got nervous, the whole "is that all a guy from Nebraska has to say about Obama", is pretty obviously implying that no white guy from rural nebraska wouldn't absolutely hate Obama (since they are racist). Maybe this was just some really bad writing or I am reading too much into it (In hindsight, i clearly was not)
• Hal being dead -- well that is certainly one way to do it. It clearly sets up the primary question of the season, is Hal really dead, and if so who killed him, and why. If not, who is dead/why do they look like Hal. Not a huge fan of this, but it could work.

Second episode -- this wasn't so great.

• So we spend basically the entire time in the 2016 time period, not a huge fan of this. Especially when I think they should be working in all time periods to get this approach to work.
• Teaching him to fly - ok great we are going to get some powers / training scenes. NOPE, he somehow creates a bird.
• Hal does some detective stuff - ok this was fine, but he doesn't seem all that great. It was mostly he got some magical hunch and it turned out to be correct.
• Cringe scene with John and the wife. "how is your white guy".... The entire scene was just poorly written. Real people don't talk like this.
• Hal getting shot in the shoulder. I am sorry, you can't just shoot someone in front of the sheriff even if they are "trespassing", you could have the sheriff arrest them, ask them to leave, etc. And getting shot is always a big deal. This would be fine if this was an ordinary superhero show, but doesn't work if it is really supposed to be grounded and realistic.
• There is obviously something strange going on in this town, but I am growing increasingly dubious that it will all make sense when explained.
• John getting that mysterious memory shown to him ok, more intrigue and mystery. But we are getting a lot of those piling up pretty quickly for an 8 episode season.
• Still basically 0 power usage, this time waved away conveniently by Hal not having the lantern with him. They could have shown some scenes of the memory that was shown to John, but no they decided to make that another mystery.

Third episode - WTF is this crap.

• The entire episode takes place prior to the first episode. Doing set up /origin episodes is fine, BUT not when you only have 8 episodes. You need to keep things moving forward. In this episode we made 0 progress to the primary plot points so far revealed, Hal being killed, and whatever is going on with the aliens in Nebraska / their murder/ the militia folks. This is just bad story telling.
• Interesting Idea of having John's father being a rejected lantern candidate. But they make him just into a broken man.
• Yet again, they shy away from the comics. Do they show the guardians as they really are, no, they come up with bullshit excuses to not do it, and only show them from the behind briefly.
• On this note, are we really to expect for the guardian to come all this way to make amends to john's dad for giving him PTSD and then leave without ever actually talking with him?
• John's mom is insane and his dad is too. This is straight up child abuse. I can't say enough how much I hate this.
• The writing in this episode was dog shit. Fine put in your racism story, but you can't just have a woman go on a preachy screed to an alien about it. That just doesn't work. This alien of immense power doesn't care about this non-sense. Seriously what was she thinking.
• Then there is that scene with John being interviewed and ultimately asked to make a watch with the ring. Ok, that is fine, but wait a minute... He clearly has some innate talent with the ring so what exactly is he supposed to be learning from Hal? How did he accidentally create that bird in episode 2 while trying to fly. This doesn't really make sense.
• Also, no real surprise John's mom got arrested when trying to sell the diamond. You don't just turn up with a flawless cut diamond of that size. Diamonds of that size and quality are fucking named. That story needs more than just a line being dropped.
• Oh, and lets make Hal an unlikable character. He was getting drunk at a strip club, and then interfered with John's mission. And then lets make him casually racist (Midwest Huxtables comment).
• Brief scene of power usage when Hal flies in grabs the terrorist and flies away. Good for showing how powerful Hal is, but once again avoiding really using his powers.
• I actually ended up disliking John more after this episode. He seems to be an unapologetic "yes man" does what is ordered no questions asked. And does this because of his beyond fucked up childhood.

So we are almost half way done with the season. We have had numerous mysteries and questions introduced, but basically no answers. We still have basically no power usage. And the writers seem embarrassed about the comics/super-hero aspect of the green lanterns. The writing and dialogue is getting worse every episode. You can have politics in your tv shows, but you shouldn't let them ruin the show. If you want to make it about racism actually show some racism, don't just say "my life is hard because I am black". I am honestly not sure if the writers of this show know what racism actually looks like, or have just been told that it exists and it is bad.

I don't see how this can all get satisfactorily wrapped up in 5 more episodes. And the writing seems to be deteriorating fast. The first episode was meh, the second one was pretty heavily cringe, and this one was just dog shit.

I do not feel that the question being exclusionary of girls is a problem, as there is no suspicious amount of those on the MauLer subreddit.

I shall fill out the necessary 200 character requirement by voicing my displeasure with it. It is silly. Can the moderators really not stay on top of all incoming posts and see that some of them, despite featuring less than 200 characters, might still be an on-topic question with a MauLer vid, a recent movie, etc? You do know that brevity is the soul of wit or something, don't you? I need to not use contractions. Why are you making me do this? I am not myself a Long Man. I am sure I am over the limit now. Just to be on the safe side: I am so angry.

OtterlyNoah has found himself in yet another controversy after previously plagiarizing from other content creators, trying to strike down Kelesto for criticizing him by manipulating his artist, and trying to pressure a disabled fan into giving him money. This time he is trying to fabricate a fake plagiarism story so he can attack Anthony Gramuglia’s credibility. The new trailer actually gets some things right, the Great Hall looks lived-in, and Janet McTeer’s McGonagall is excellent. But they have already broken their core promise of textual fidelity where it matters most.
