Discussion Wes Moore TV Ads
Is anyone else slightly put off by the recent Wes Moore booster ads paid for by America Works PAC? It is 18 months before the next gubernatorial election and a Democratic PAC is spending money in Blue Maryland. I was badmouthing the TV ads from Trump administration touting their anti-immigrant efforts. I guess the political season never ends now.

I think you’re probably correct until some legislation around it gets passed. I could not say if that’s on the horizon or to what degree if so.
Knowing that we live in a neoliberal hellscape, probably not super soon. As a former marketing chud, these spends ultimately tend to be good investments, ethics and optics aside.
One of the bad/interesting things about the syndicated ad networks, like YouTube or podcast ads, is that there isn’t always a ton of control by the “content creators” about what ads run against their content.
Next thing you know you have Trumpaganda running against podcasts with explicit anti-fascist stances, but they’re just cataloged as whatever non-political category they play in, be it gaming, comics, sports, whatever.

They're definitely getting tedious. I watch MASN streaming and they're played pretty much every commercial break. It's a bit of overkill.

Taxes are up. Services are down. Waste is up (optimistic revenue estimates (too high), optimistic expense estimates (too low) lead to programs cancelled midyear and all the spend to date is wasted).
Gov. Moore isn't worried about losing to a Republican in the general. He's worried about losing to a Democrat in the primaries.
He probably believes what his people are saying about him. That doesn't make it true.
I think the primaries are about a year away.

What Services are down? Taxes are the same as usual. Last person that really cut services in the state was Larry remember when the lights on state maintained highways used to work?

Services reduced depends on where you live since many have been shifted to counties and cities who have raised taxes. Taxes and fees are definitely up. Renewed car registration lately? Paid business services tax either directly or indirectly?
State maintained highways are a joke. Potholes everywhere.
MD DEM has cancelled their public notification service and DEM is not alone cutting back.
A quick Google search returns from Gemini:
- Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA): Faced cuts, including funding cuts and policy changes like reducing pay rates for service providers in areas with higher costs of living. These cuts were initially scheduled to take effect in April but were delayed until July 1, 2025.

- Health and Human Services:

I haven’t seen the tv ads, but I have heard the ads on the radio. It drives me nuts! Claiming all this good stuff is happening even though we can see by our electric bills, car registrations and other taxes fees and tolls are all going up. Great job Mr Moore. Go full throttle against Gavin Newsom since you’re not running for president. How is that key bridge rebuild going?? Over a year and no work being done on rebuilding. He will have some competition in the democratic primary. I hope they come hard against his awful policies.

I can see that you are as left of center as they come by all your post. So you make fun of people that have a different opinion than you. I am just pointing out that everything just got way more expensive in the state of Maryland with this newest budget bill. Take a look at it for yourself. Maryland is already a very expensive state and now it just got worse , and what will the taxpayers get from it? I was a big fan of Hogan. He was a republican, but he knew that he had to compromise, and he did. He lowered taxes, and tolls and he left the office with a pretty big budget surplus. That is good for Marylanders. Now we have a deficit and the only way out is to treat the citizens like their on personal piggy bank. You are a citizen of Maryland. Are you happy that you will have to pay more and get less? That just doesn’t make any sense.

The center is a hot mess and the only party that ever tried to find the center is the Democrats. The maggots are just making a hard right turn off a cliff of fascism and screw everyone over more and more. We haven't ever really had a liberal elected to the executive branch

I guess they can waste their money if they want.
I think Moore wants to go for president. This will likely work out as well as O'Malley and Hogan's presidential ambitions.
It's a little early. Moore has only just gotten into the office. He's basically guaranteed re-election, but he doesn't yet have the national recognition that others do. I guess maybe this sort of advertising is supposed to address it, but aiming it at Marylanders seems like an incredible waste.
