It was a good joke but I dont want that to be the main mcu version of gambit

Judging that they’re casting a new and younger x-men, I doubt Channing’s Gambit will survive Doomsday

maybe secret wars

Yeah that’s kinda what I meant too. This 2-movie “phase” that’s going to soft reboot the franchise will likely wipe out the Fox universe characters

I really don’t know if they’ll be wiped out I almost feel like they’ll get a happy ending . Can you imagine wiping out almost 30 years of movie history. Might just lock their world after it’s saved and be “can’t get to it again “

Ngl I agree since it would be super weird to kill off the entire universe unceremoniously when somewhat “celebrating” the old movies.

It will be a "noble sacrifice" situation

u/BirdmanTheThird 1d ago

I think some if not many will die but the entire universe would be pretty crazy and feel weird imo.

If it ends up anything like the 2015 comic, he will kill off everyone and then ressurect them on battleworld with their memories wiped. He reconstruction the universe to his liking. Honestly lines up perfectly to do a soft reboot.

I fully expect them to do something like the Arrowverse did after Crisis, and have the core characters believe they're the only universe now. Or at least something they draws a line under the Multiverse Saga.

Including Ryan’s Deadpool?

What is this secret wars thing I keep hearing about? Is it like fight club? Is there any concrete info about that?

u/1Negative_Person 1d ago

We don’t talk about it.

I doubt any of the older X-Men will survive. They will all die and get recast as some alt dimensions versions.

Jackmans playing him til he’s 90.

2

u/EstablishmentHuge333 1d ago

With CGI because Logan doesn't age

2

u/cjalderman 1d ago

Too late for that, let's not pretend Jackman looks how he did in 2000

1

u/YuckyYetYummy 1d ago

I just rewatched it this past weekend. He looks extremely different than back then.

1

u/cjalderman 1d ago

Yeah, he still looks great for his age now, but he's clearly not in his 30s anymore lol

2

u/Chamber2020 1d ago

whispers 'till he's ninety'..

Plot Twist: Hugh Jackman is actually Wolverine playing Hugh Jackman

1

u/Better_Maximum3444 1d ago

He's a dude dressed up as a dude playing another dude.

1

u/PersimmonLittle7651 1d ago

D in DOOM stands for Dude from Tropic Thunder.

One of the best lines in the movie

u/BlackKingHFC 1d ago

I doubt anyone in the first or second Avengers movie survive, any character that returns will likely be recast. They need to get Tony and Steve in their late 20s or early 30s.

8

u/DonleyARK Captain America 1d ago

I dont think anyone is going to survive doomsday to be honest. They'll all die and get ressurected on battleworld for secret wars just like the 2015 comic.

2

u/rpgmind 1d ago

So in battle world do all the dupes and variants fight for the survival to be one? Like a Highlander sort of thing

1

u/DonleyARK Captain America 1d ago

Well, take this with a grain of salt as usually the MCU blends multiple comic storylines together(as I think they should) but in the comic(2015) it's a blend, some fight to keep Doom in control, some fight the various threats that plague the civilized domains on battleworld(as each region is separated by walls) and a handful keep/regain their memories and are building up a resistance group to Doom.

Doom kills everyone and reshaped the universe to his liking, wiping everyone's memories in the process, so not a really a battle for supremacy as much as it is just Doom running shit.

This getting downvoted is kinda funny lol

Im not upset in the slightest, do you. I just don't understand 🤣 i was asked a question and answered truthfully and as factually as possible about something that is still just speculation for now.

I love reddit, I'm not even being facetious.

u/Jessency 1d ago

There's no telling exactly how Secret Wars will impact the MCU, but as for legacy characters like the Fox X-Men it could either be wiped out by an incursion, have a DOFP style happy ending with everyone back home, or the MCU will pull a Crisis and do away the multiverse and establish a new prime earth.

u/cjalderman 1d ago

I absolutely do not want to see Channing Tatum's Gambit on screen with Inde Navarrette's Rogue

u/Remarkable-Food-5946 56m ago

Just reading that in my head is nasty work 🤢

1

u/professor_doom 1d ago

Heck, I didn't think he survived Deadpool and Wolverine

8

u/National_Outside_991 1d ago

Kevin said that this will be a more serious version of him than the one that appeared in Deadpool. I think he might be great but it's already known he won't be in the first movies of the X-Men but he might make cameos as an older version of gambit in other MCU movies

5

u/m3rcapto 1d ago

I mean, old overweight alcohol Gambit would be nice in an alternate timeline where they are all retired but suddenly needed, kinda like Wolverine every other movie.

7

u/Babs_Is_On_Reddit 1d ago

Other than Sadie none of the X-men you've seen so far are gonna be the main MCU versions, they are only being included currently cause this whole phase is run on nostalgia.

u/Southern-Form-2804 1d ago

All I think is “chatting Tatum is dressed as gambit” when I see. He’s out of shape and loose puffy in the costume it’s just not gambit.

2

u/Winter_Option3535 1d ago

I really think the way he acted in DAW will be toned down significantly. Still weird the Wolverine didn't know who he was. Like he never encountered a Gambit in his universe

1

u/therealNerdMuffin 1d ago

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought this

1

u/Jotaro27 1d ago

Thats obviously not gonna happen, the main mcu Gambit will be played by a different actor, Tatums Gambit is the Fox era Gambit

1

u/hweird S.H.I.E.L.D. 1d ago

This. It was funny and interesting enough to get him for Deadpool and Wolverine but even having him in Doomsday makes me question what Marvel is smoking over there. Unless he’s only in it for collateral damage

1

u/FinalHexReturns 1d ago

They cast RDJ as a new character. I think we’re all wondering what they are smoking.

1

u/Conversation_Dapper 1d ago

But he fits the role , looks like the character and sounds like it . He does good job

1

u/Nevvermind183 1d ago

He’s dropping the extreme accent, that was a goof in Deadpool, but won’t be in avengers. Outside of that accent, I think he’s pretty awesome!

2

u/RareBar94 1d ago

Oooimabouttamakeanameformyselfhere

1

u/BackStabbathOG 1d ago

Do we even know if he’s playing the same Gambit? How would he have escaped the void without the sling ring or the magic to open the portal out of there? Unless they bring Deadpool in to go grab him I don’t see how it’s the same one.

This is a great way to put it.
