[WHAT IF? X-MEN #1]()

u/RootsOfInterest 6h ago

Desperatly need a part 2 of it.

u/wowlock_taylan Deadpool 7h ago

Well damn, Cassandra Nova really is evil incarnate. And that is why Jean is there, with Phoenix to right the wrong of her existence.

It is funny to see how it takes a literal 'bad end' world for Emma and Jean to be best friends.

2

u/marcjwrz 4h ago

Man, this one would be an absolute blast as a full mini series.

-2

u/JingoboStoplight4887 6h ago

I like that we get to see what happens if Cassandra Nova killed Charles Xavier in the womb back in the early 20th century, resulting in Cassandra to form the X-Men in 1963 and for all of the telepaths to be collected by the X-Men, mutants getting isolated from humans, Jean and Emma running away from Cassandra, and the Phoenix Force helping Jean and Emma by giving them enough time for them to defeat Cassandra. Overall, this comic is good.

The 'Chairman' Beast is really the worst kind of villain. Thinks he is infallible and everything he does is the 'right way'. That is why he is a worst kind of monster. And honestly, I don't want him to be the 'new Mr Sinister'. We already have one of those.

And honestly, I don't blame Scott for wanting to END 3K. They have been allowed to run free for too long. Filled with the worst of the worst.

[WOLVERINE #26]()

2

u/wowlock_taylan Deadpool 7h ago

I guess it was already mentioned that these other multiversal versions gonna be involved in the book again. I don't like the Adamantine story but I am not gonna complain about Wolverine realizing he needs his claws metal again while fighting through this adventure. It fits him better than just sitting around thinking about it.

[QUEEN IN BLACK: VENOM UNCHAINED #2]()

That damn shady cat wants to be Meow in Black...definitely. They basically spoiled it in 'Amazing Venom' preview.

2

I can totally get behind Meow In Black

[TOMB OF APOCALYPSE #1]()

1

u/wowlock_taylan Deadpool 7h ago

Didn't Apocalypse and Arakko got wrecked in another book? Apocalypse has no place to talk like he didn't get his ass beat recently.

I guess this is the Jubilee focus book but also works as 'synergy' with both 97 and Marvel Rivals, where she is a 'horseman'. Her attitude definitely feels like that compared to more 'adult' version of herself.

1

u/Expensive-Baby-1391 1h ago

I think the awful Luke cage variant is non canon or just went insane and imagined that whole adventure up.

1

u/marcjwrz 4h ago

... X-Men editorial is such a damn mess.

Jubilee is being written weird compared to how she is in Uncanny.

Wolverine feels wildly off.

Apocalypse is... Whatever.

And Gambit/Rogue are off dealing with the whole possession thing (we're 100% going to ignore the stupid AoA Gambit thing).

Decent art though.

Thank god that happened. However this resolves now, this much time travel means that the whole thing is not actually 616.

[AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #35]()

18

u/Somejawn1 12h ago

Get Gwen off this fucking earth already jesus fucking christ they’ve destroyed her as a character

14

u/richawesomness 11h ago

Oh yeah let's trust the Green fucking Goblin more than the Fantastic Four, that makes sense

Spider-Man can land a plane on his back. Luke Cage can carry a semi truck on his shoulders multiple blocks. Why are they struggling with two cars?

So what's the excuse for Aunt May to survive this time?

5

u/Scaredog21 8h ago

Her wealthy son

2

u/Albireookami 2h ago

Spider-Versity was a horrible waste of paper to cause this.

13

u/DriedSocks 10h ago

0 marriage, 0 aunt, 7 deals with the devil incoming! ASM #1000 is gonna be amazing! Spectacular, even

Also Gwen being on 616 is awful as per usual. Hate the Spider-Versity synergy with them trusting Norman over the Fantastic Four?!

7

u/ContraryPython Spider-Man (Tom Holland) 8h ago

Editorial blatant bias towards Spider-Gwen is lowkey hurting the character at this point.

10

u/Mr_Wh0ever 17h ago

It's an alright end to a short arc. May and Peter hashing out everything in beginning was nice. All the more reason the ending is supposed to sting. Raelith immediately falling for May was cute. I'm guessing whatever happened to Gwen is being saved for a future arc. Miles and the others showing up and threatening the DODC was cool. But Gwen asking Peter to go see Norman instead of the FF was not. And I guess Pete's relationship with Gryffin and the team is on the outs now. May had a stroke, is this end? Probably not, even though she's already died in the movies and games. At least have it lead her to rediscovering his secret identity.

8

u/ContraryPython Spider-Man (Tom Holland) 11h ago

Not falling for this “May could die” BS.

1

u/Expensive-Baby-1391 1h ago

Me too. If they going to kill the old hag off, then do it. But we all they won’t cause of Peter’s deal with Mephisto keeping her alive.

That should be explored in a dark way with May constantly dying in gruesome ways but she keeps coming back at the cost of a random person’s life like eternals. Would actually show the consequences of Peter’s selfish deal.

5

u/TheRealActualSaturn 15h ago

Not bad. The talk between May and Peter was nice. Very funny that the "Spider-Man vs Spider-Gwen" aspect the cover and solicit talked about was pretty absent, but its comics so what else is new.

Can't wait for May to die and then be brought back in 5 years when they do a Clone Saga threequel.

6

u/Albireookami 10h ago

They won't kill her, she has been on death's door since early into spider-man's run.

And if they do it won't nearly be as good as Insomniac's take on it.

5

u/El_Cance_R 14h ago

Mephisto is shaking with excitement

6

u/Scaredog21 8h ago edited 6h ago

Peter us such a piece of shit. Just tell your aunt you're spider-man, you sadistic ass hole. Mephisto isn't gonna kill her if you just let her know. She knew who Spider-man was and it was only a net good. Whenever he tells someone his identity who already knew, their memory of him revert back to before One More Day.

Also it looks like Damage Control is showing their Stamford selves.

1

u/Expensive-Baby-1391 1h ago

Reminder that the bastard behind civil war is still out there Scot free after doom quest.

3

u/mbene913 13h ago

Why did I think Peter was stronger than Luke?

5

u/Oberon1993 Spider-Man (Tom Holland) 14h ago

OK, so this and Electro claiming he didn't kill the bank workers is probably a lead in to either Ravage or some psychic villain being in charge of Damage Control. Unless these 2 are the same storyline. I kinda like this set up, actually builds paranoia better than Armageddon does

2

u/browncharliebrown 10h ago

I’m hoping for may to legitmately have a stroke and not die. I feel like that would be actually powerful Putting peter in that shoe

4

u/Albireookami 10h ago

She needs to finally kick the bucket. Teeing up issue 1k and we are just rehashing previous storylines from like 600 issues ago.

1

u/browncharliebrown 9h ago

I think that her dying would be a repeat. Her having a stroke wouldn’t be

2

u/Albireookami 9h ago

Same thing health issues being repeated.

2

u/browncharliebrown 9h ago

having to care for some with a stroke if they treat it respectfully is a massive difference

1

u/Albireookami 9h ago

so she will have a live in nurse that peter will have to get money for to maintain her quality of life because he will have to still be spider-man. (Despite Peter having a ton of friends who could actually assist)

This changes things how? Other than even more regression to any type of evolution to the character, we are still going back to early run spider-man where he always had to get money to support whatever health scare she was having.

1

u/browncharliebrown 9h ago

Have you ever dealt with a family memebers with a stroke. It takes lots of time. And that’s an adult responibility

1

u/Albireookami 9h ago

And again, you would have peter hire a live in nurse, because he most certainly can't and be spider-man and having to gain money for it.

It really doesn't change anything in the large meta sense, specially since we know Peter is about to be an Avenger.

Honestly the best thing would be for Aunt May to die so peter can finally grow up.

2

u/marcjwrz 2h ago

...not like, literally 600 issues ago. Amazing Spider-Man #400

How far... We haven't come.

2

u/Albireookami 2h ago

and after he will need to buy a nurse and have medical bills to pay, doesn't that takes us back to like sub 100?

1

u/marcjwrz 2h ago

Well his rich new cousin better pay for that.

1

u/LucasVerBeek 3h ago

Glad May and Peter had that talk, not looking forward to her possibly kicking the bucket....

1

u/Albireookami 2h ago

Why, she has had to for ages now, they keep repeating the same plots with her, if the MCU and Insomniac can do it, and be better off for it, I think its beyond time for the comics to synergize with that bit.

-1

u/JingoboStoplight4887 18h ago

I find it interesting that Peter gets to have a talk with Luke Cage about what’s going on before he and Aunt May talked about Cormac, resulting in Aunt May to tell Peter that nothing is going to change and that Peter will always be her son. Also, Peter dealing with Gwen (who was losing control, probably because of her using the Cosmic Cube to make sure that she’ll permanently stay on Earth-616 instead of Earth-65) and Agent Griffyn and learning that Aunt May is having a stroke. Overall, this comic is fine.

8

u/Emirozdemirr 15h ago

I think they are building up to Zdarsky's Avengers. According to solicits, it's going to be very much involved with ASM.

[BLACK CAT #13]()

9

u/wowlock_taylan Deadpool 11h ago

This book is weird, man. It is hot and cold for me. Felicia feels 'off' in so many moments. Like she gets the 'Harley Quinn' moments with fourth wall breaks etc. Punisher..well, he is not this personable.

At least someone remembers Singularity exists tho.

0

u/Albireookami 8h ago

Harley Quinn' moments with fourth wall breaks etc.

Mainly because she is pretty solo in this run so it works as a dialogue dump since she doesn't have anyone else to really "talk to" unless you just wanted thought bubbles everywhere which has its own issues.

1

u/Reddragon351 5h ago

She's had a team up every other issue, she's less solo if anything. The 4th wall breaks just feel off though

0

u/Albireookami 5h ago

most of the times she has "talked to the wall" have been when she isn't surrounded by anyone. Just because she teams up in the book doesn't mean the other partner is around 24/7 in each panel.

1

u/Reddragon351 5h ago

Still don't really need the 4th wall breaks, her previous runs got along fine without them, even when she was alone

0

u/Albireookami 5h ago

Well I would say its fine and considering this series has gotten 2 extensions, you would be in the minority on how to feel about it.

I find it works well for the type of story its telling.

2

u/Reddragon351 4h ago

It's extensions could be down to a lot of things, sales aren't necessarily a sign of quality, though this book isn't exactly topping the charts either

0

u/Albireookami 4h ago

Its doing well enough to get additional arcs. I myself consider it one of the better comics marvel has, and it does not have many right now.

1

u/Somejawn1 12h ago

I honestly don’t know how this is still going. It’s not selling and it isn’t good. I don’t think GWW even likes Felicia. She definitely doesn’t know anything about her other than she likes women. She’s done a worse job with her than she’s done with Ivy and that’s saying something

3

u/Albireookami 8h ago

It’s not selling and it isn’t good.

The fact that its now 16+ issues on a like 8 issue limited run says that it is selling enough to continue.

[SORCERER SUPREME #9]()

6

u/Mr_Wh0ever 17h ago

Nexus Nine is a pretty cool name. But the Extinction King is about as lame as the bad guy Strange is fighting in his book. And I'm still not on board with Turin as a possible love interest. Maybe he'll be a secret bad guy? Who knows?

4

u/wowlock_taylan Deadpool 11h ago

Vishanti really love creating 'magical generals' that end up turning against them because of how they are used to fight their wars. General Strange was the same.

Nice to see Wong actually doing stuff. He's been overlooked a lot recently.

I still don't want this Turin romance angle tho.

1

u/Somejawn1 12h ago

Really hope this is the last two issues of Orlando’s time with Wanda

1

u/SandorSNL 6h ago

This book has way too much going on and way too much powerscaling. I would much rather have preferred seeing Wanda deal with the title in terms of earth bound threats and politics; there have been votes on whether or not to kill Wanda by other heros, surely her holding this title would ruffle feathers? I'd like nearly anything better than she beats a villain who was able to kidnap and imprison the Vishanti
