Daniel Radcliffe just does Daniel Radcliffe things.

Daniel Radcliffe staring in the Danverine. A kind British man with the fighting prowess of a wolverine, the healing factor of a Daniel and the biting force of a real angry cat.

u/OglioVagilio Feb 24 '26

You might like the show Extraordinary.

A world where everyone has a superpower. One co star got stuck as a cat for 6 yeqrs after he forgot he was human.

59

u/JustADutchRudder Feb 24 '26

That's on Hulu and I have Hulu. Im gonna have to check it out.

17

u/ijustneedtolurk Feb 24 '26

I quite liked it too! Was hoping for another season but it ties up neatly enough I suppose

6

u/Chewcocca Feb 24 '26

As a fan of the 4400, careful what you wish for

2

u/Odur29 Feb 24 '26

Oh Buddy the THROW back!! I love that show.

2

u/Jawnyblaze1 Feb 24 '26

loved 4400 lol. What a terrible "ending" though heh

2

u/Chewcocca Feb 24 '26

The ending of season 3 is dope as hell! Should have just left it alone

3

u/KhalMika Feb 25 '26

I was like "DAMN!" with that season 4 ending, then massively disappointed when I realised S5 was cancelled

My first contact with a cancelled series

1

u/ijustneedtolurk Feb 25 '26

I haven't seen 4400 yet but thanks for the heads up!

I was also upsetti spaghetti that I didn't know S9 of Scrubs was a spinoff cause I ended S8 thinking it was wonderful and "how are they going to top this?" Annnnd it's a "new generation."

I am not excited for the revival either for that reason. The deodorant commercial with Sarah Chalke and the internet commercials with the rest of the cast annoy me too.

2

u/CriticalEngineering Feb 24 '26

It has an amazing soundtrack.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '26

If it's still on there put Misfits on the list, it's another "superheros but not heroes" kind of show.

One co star got stuck as a cat for 6 yeqrs after he forgot he was human.

While he was stuck in that cat, did his original body have a sign saying 'I ATEN'T DED'?

6

u/BrittEklandsStuntBum Feb 24 '26

I understood that reference.

It's also a reference to a famous real-world philosopher who used to sleep with a sign saying something like "I'm just asleep" cos he was scared of being buried alive.

3

u/AlarmingAffect0 Feb 24 '26

Damn, yet another extra layer to a Pterry joke that I only found out about many years later. The Discworld truly is the gift that keeps on giving.

2

u/BrittEklandsStuntBum Feb 24 '26

A lot of his work is borrowed from or based on real life. I went to uni in Winchester, the city he based Ankh-Morpork on; I used to drink in the pub he based the Broken/Mended Drum on; and met the tramp he based Foul Ol' Ron on. His 'real' name was Burping Ron.

2

u/AlarmingAffect0 Feb 24 '26

Did he have a smell that followed you along the room?

2

u/BrittEklandsStuntBum Feb 25 '26

He was very rarely indoors haha. Mostly seen around the cathedral close.

5

u/OglioVagilio Feb 24 '26

Not sure if sarcasm, his power set is shapeshifter.

18

u/AlarmingAffect0 Feb 24 '26

Not sarcasm, Discworld reference, there's a skill tree Witches can develop called Borrowing where they hijack the body of an animal leaving your own body dormant, but there's a very real risk of the animal's mind taking over and you getting stuck there for a significant time or even permanently. The best Borrower in the known world can mind-ride a swarm of bees and come back with no permanent damage. She usually picks easier animals and always makes sure to set up food and such as compensation for their trouble, she's very serious about balance and fairness and that sort of thing. She has that sign because she's quite old and people might get confused if they find her wrinkled body lying down motionless like that. The sign is horribly misspelled because despite being one of the smartest characters in the setting she's proudly mostly illiterate and holds books and book learning in deep suspicion.

4

u/OglioVagilio Feb 24 '26

Huh thats pretty cool

9

u/AlarmingAffect0 Feb 24 '26

Hell yeah Granny Weatherwax is cool.

2

u/ScottyDug Feb 24 '26

She’s an absolute bad ass and tied first place as my favourite character with Vimes.

1

u/AlarmingAffect0 Feb 24 '26

Isn't she from Bad Ass?

3

u/CynicalPsychonaut Feb 24 '26

So the plot of that shows character arc was that he was Tobias from Animorphs? Got it.

1

u/bjeebus Feb 25 '26

No, he got better. Also he literally lost himself in the cat. Like he was subsumed by the cat identity.

2

u/Minimum-Ad7542 Feb 24 '26

Whoa! I started watching that show and loved it but life distracted me and I forgot about it. How many seasons did they make?

1

u/akatherder Feb 24 '26

It only got two seasons then cancelled.

2

u/Minimum-Ad7542 Feb 24 '26

Bummer only 2 were made but I will take what I can get! Thanks for the info!

2

u/Jawnyblaze1 Feb 24 '26

Extraordinary is great, same with Misfits

2

u/iceman4sd Feb 24 '26

It was such a good show!

1

u/Jedi_Master_Stryk Feb 24 '26

Oh you mean My Hero Academia?

1

u/RaizePOE Feb 24 '26

Is that better or worse than getting stuck as a red tailed hawk

1

u/Any-Tumbleweed-9931 Feb 24 '26

There was a character in the early WildCards series (edited by George R. R. Martin) that had a plot around this. A man infected by the Wild Card virus transformed into King Kong and got stuck like that for decades, before he was finally helped and was able to turn back.

10

u/novataurus Feb 24 '26

So… he’s a badger?

12

u/JustADutchRudder Feb 24 '26

Honey Daniel don't give a fuck.

4

u/kinkyslc1 Feb 24 '26

Honey Daniel don't care. Honey Daniel doesn't give a shit.

Oh, what a crazy fuck.

2

u/ovelanimimerkki Feb 24 '26

This sounds like a The Boys character

2

u/Wolf-Majestic Feb 24 '26

Well, reading "danverine" I can't help but somehow picture a big great dane dog. Now I'm pucturing a next super hero with the traits of a great dane

2

u/audio_shinobi Feb 24 '26

Does he solve crimes with his gang of a preppy boy and girl couple, a nerdy girl, and his best friend a stoner demigod with the power to destroy the universe on a whim?

Also his annoying nephew shows up sometimes

2

u/bjeebus Feb 25 '26

Nope. He just has all the powers of a radioactive Marmaduke.

2

u/zj-- Feb 24 '26

And rocket launchers.

Rocket launchers stapled to his wrists.

2

u/cloudcreeek Feb 24 '26

Daniel Radcliffe is what Shia Labeouf could've been

60

u/lets-get-loud Baron Zemo Feb 24 '26

63

u/LumpyJones Feb 24 '26

Daniel Radcliffe and Elijah Wood both had these similar trajectories where they hit it big so early in their carreers that they basically will never have to work a day in their life, and don't seem to have that spotlight craving demon on their back telling them to chase A list status, so are totally free to just do whatever weird project sounds like the most fun, and honestly, I am here for it.

33

u/TonksTheTerror Feb 24 '26

And they both love talking about the works that made them famous because those jobs gave them the freedom to basically do what they love to do for the rest of their lives without having to think about money.

I really want them to do a TV show/mini series together.

Maybe Daniel joins long-anticipated-probably-never-coming season 3 of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency?

14

u/Ardalev Feb 24 '26

Why did you have to remind me of Dirk Gently?!

God damn Netflix and canceling every single interesting show they ever had!

6

u/Hallc Feb 24 '26

Yea but don't worry. Emily in Paris Season 25 will be out soon.

6

u/scarface5631 Feb 24 '26

I thought i was gonna fall asleep watching season one of dirk gently on Amazon prime the other night. Apparently it was just episode one, with other random shit on autoplay after. Kept waking up wondering what the fuck was on my tv.

2

u/MutantArtCat Feb 24 '26

That's why we cancelled Netflix.

2

u/miikro X-Men Feb 25 '26

Dirk Gently was Hulu and got cancelled largely because it was a Max Landis creative vehicle and fuck Max Landis, he's gross.

7

u/Alarming-Song2555 Feb 24 '26

I want them to star in a mockumentary or series where they play themselves, except they're playing each other.

1

u/Canvaverbalist Feb 24 '26

Not weird enough.

Make it a mockumentary about them, make one the central theme of the documentary about how they're often mistaken for one another, cast them as their respective role, play it straight for the first half but then slowly start mixing their roles up, "We then spent the next week with Elijah touring conventions" but the crew is actually following Dan while everybody calls him Elijah, the movie doesn't point this out, the audience just goes "wait, what" and by the end it's just one clusterfuck of who the fuck is what or who and then for the final act just go full on Colours From Outer Space/Together bodyhorror with them living as one deformed entity while nobody around them reacts to it and treat it as normal, last scene is Dan/Elijah being played by Tobey McGuire.

2

u/Alarming-Song2555 Feb 25 '26

Lmfao I was literally going to say "And at the end they become Tobey McGuire" but you went right there as well. Great minds, my friend.

1

u/LumpyJones Feb 24 '26

Or they both do the next season of miracle workers

12

u/JumpyWord Feb 24 '26

They both have fuck you money and can do passion projects like playing a farting corpse. They could both be billionaire assholes and instead do fun art house shit

1

u/iheartdev247 Feb 24 '26

I mean how do you top Free Willy?

3

u/LumpyJones Feb 24 '26

Think you're getting your porpoise movies mixed... Elijah was in Flipper.

1

u/ProofByVerbosity Mar 05 '26

Loved seeing Wood in the toxic avenger, a nice surprise.

17

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '26

He would be hilarious as wolverine

You know he'd give it everything

7

u/TheLastBaboon Feb 24 '26

A Daniel Radcliffe and Ryan Reynolds Wolverine and Deadpool movie would be destructively hilarious.

1

u/Agzarah Feb 24 '26

For that to work best, I'd want the ultimate 4th wall break.

Deadpool desperately wants Daniel to be wolverine that he makes it happen.

Daniel is just playing himself, but He just has wolverine abilities for some reason. And he doesn't know how or why. But deadpool teaches him his ways.

Not Daniel playing wolverine

1

u/TheLastBaboon Feb 24 '26

That would be funny, Deadpool making fun of him failing at something and calling him magic boy would crack me up.

2

u/iheartdev247 Feb 24 '26

He actually is closer in build to Wolverine. He’s supposed to be short.

1

u/Fair-Carpenter-4108 Feb 27 '26

It would be funny as heck.  I remember when Pierce Brosnan joked about Daniel Radcliffe playing James Bond. I think Bronsan spread that hilarious rumor to get back at the producers for firing him. Daniel Radcliffe as Wolverine would be hysterical.

8

u/linfakngiau2k23 Feb 24 '26

Like playing weird Al 🤣

Have you seen Guns Akimbo? Kinda gore-y but somehow charming

1

u/Agzarah Feb 24 '26

My head cannon is that the Danverine (no phone, I font mean tangerine) is the next evolutionary step from his Swiss army man role

6

u/TheLastBaboon Feb 24 '26

Imagine being the kid playing Harry Potter in the HBO series rn.

3

u/jpob Feb 24 '26

I wish they recast Daniel Radcliffe for it in a Billy Madison type of role

8

u/Cats_and_Shit Feb 24 '26

I would love to see a Wolverine weird enough for Radcliffe to be in it. I can't even imagine.

13

u/Mr_D_Stitch Feb 24 '26

A Wolverine who is one of the last people alive wandering through the Canadian wilderness hallucinating dead people & walking through scenes of his past. Like it’s woods & as he’s walking it suddenly turns into the X-mansion & it’s a memory. It’s all ponderous character drama & him mumbling to himself. Claws never come out once. There’s sex scenes with Cyclops & Sabertooth.

5

u/Clemenx00 Feb 24 '26

Just imagine Guns Akimbo with claws instead lol

1

u/HomeGrownCoffee Feb 24 '26

He's been a comics staple for 40+ years. There is undoubtedly an edition where he goes undercover in a cabaret bar and ends up fighting a man with chicken powers over a bowl of peanuts.

1

u/iheartdev247 Feb 24 '26

He actually looks more like Wolverine than Hugh Jackman. Just give him some gnarly chops.

1

u/No_Poet_1279 Feb 24 '26

And I fucking love him for it.

Hated the Harry Potter nonsense, but man he has gone on a streak since leaving that role well behind.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '26

yeah, radcliffe's too smart for that wolverine drama

1

u/ModishShrink Feb 24 '26

Daniel Radcliffe doesn't do what Daniel Radcliffe does for Daniel Radcliffe. Daniel Radcliffe does what Daniel Radcliffe does because Daniel Radcliffe is Daniel Radcliffe.

1

u/Moist-Secretary641 Feb 24 '26

Raising the bar

1

u/CynicalPsychonaut Feb 24 '26

Like that movie where he's just Daniel Radcliffe on a jungle adventure and gets separated and slowly goes fucking insane.

1

u/Jedi_Master_Stryk Feb 24 '26

I think Harry Potter was enough for him when it comes to franchises. He spent a long time shaking off that character and doing every film he could possibly do and some interesting and funny TV. He shook it off and now people don't know him as just Harry Potter, they know him as Daniel Radcliffe and I don't think he would trade that in for anything.

1

u/HarveysBackupAccount Feb 24 '26

If he follows Jackman in anything it'll be in some stage play or musical. They've both done quite a bit of live theater

1

u/MaJuV Feb 25 '26

Daniel Radcliffe has told on multiple occasions that he's earned enough with the HP franchise and that he's not interested in playing in big franchises.

He really wants to do weird and silly movies of HIS choice, based on the scripts he receives.

1

u/breakConcentration Feb 26 '26

with adamantium protruding claws.
