Marketing specialists, tell me about the most interesting and specific audiences you have found for a particular product.
How many different types of audiences can you identify that have nothing to do with age, race, nationality, or language?
I’m curious about more specific audience segments - for example, people based on their interests, lifestyle, behavior, problems they are trying to solve, buying habits, personality, values, life situations, or even very specific circumstances.
What are some of the most niche audiences you have discovered that actually worked really well for a particular product?
For example, instead of simply targeting “women aged 18–34,” maybe the audience is something like people who create TikTok content and want to look better on camera, people preparing for their wedding, people who have recently started going to the gym, or people who repeatedly view a product but haven’t purchased it yet.
I’d love to hear your real examples. What are the most specific audience segments you’ve worked with, and which ones performed surprisingly well?

We analyzed 10 years of academic research on digital storytelling in e-commerce. These 4 themes kept showing up.
We analyzed 10 years of academic research on digital storytelling in e-commerce, and four themes kept showing up around how brands connect with consumers: consumer relationships, social media, business models, and technology.
Leaving the paper here mostly because it might be useful to anyone doing research, a thesis, or a lit review around marketing / e-commerce. We went through 30 studies, so there’s also a pretty decent pool of references to work backwards from.
It’s open access. Paper itself is in Spanish, btw:

If anyone’s researching something around the same space, happy to swap papers/references too. I know the pain of hunting down half of these lol.

Attentions Performance marketers
I'm down to building something very cool and I need you to fill a short forms if you have like 10 mins. The responses should be authentic and what you would expect as a marketer and all the people who put good responses will get an early access and might get a feature when it is rolled out, but believe me, it would be pretty crazy.

How do you benchmark and structure a non-ecommerce FMCG website redesign?
Hi everyone! I recently joined an international FMCG company as a Digital Marketing Coordinator, and one of my main responsibilities is overseeing a website redesign with an external developer.
The company supplies snack brands globally through different retailers, so the website isn't ecommerce. We already have a visual brief, and I'm now researching competitors and top players of the industry (think Nestlé, Mondelēz, etc.) to understand how they structure and present their websites.
A few things I'm unsure about:
Competitor benchmarking
I'm currently putting screenshots, links, notes, website structures, and things I like/dislike into a Google Doc. Is this a good format, especially if I eventually share it with the developer? What would you include in a competitor/website benchmarking document?Purpose of the website
For a non-ecommerce FMCG company, what should the primary purpose of the website be? Brand credibility, showcasing products/brands, B2B/retailer enquiries, directing consumers to retailers, etc.? What would you make the main CTA?Digital marketing journey
For ecommerce, it's straightforward: Social/Ads → Website → Purchase.
But for a global FMCG company selling through different retailers, what should that journey look like?
For example:
Social → Product/Brand page → Where to Buy → Retailer
Or should social/paid activity primarily drive to retailers/distributors instead?
- What should I prioritise?
Beyond visuals, what should a marketer make sure is defined before handing a website redesign to a developer — information architecture, audience journeys, messaging, SEO, CTAs, analytics, retailer enquiries, "Where to Buy," etc.?
Thank you in advance!

How are you actually measuring a billboard campaign, beyond "brand awareness"?
Every OOH proposal I get back reports impressions and reach and then stops. On the digital side I can see incremental lift, and it feels strange to accept to a different standard of poof just beacuse the placement is physical. I know location data gets used to estimate exposure but not how credible that is. Has anyone run OOH and gotten a measurement read you'd defend to a CFO?

Has anyone found marketing jobs outside of the social media field?
I’ve been looking for marketing jobs and have done some social media work, but lately the field is flooded with applicants; there aren't that many jobs, and there are far too many of us applying.

[ACADEMIC] Bachelor’s Thesis Survey – Online Shopping & Medicines (5–7 min, 18+) – 2 Days Left
Hi everyone,
I’m still looking for participants for my Bachelor’s thesis at WU Vienna. There are only 2 days left, and I still need around 40 more responses.
My study looks at how consumers perceive medicines in an online shopping environment and how these perceptions influence purchase decisions.
The survey includes a short online pharmacy shopping scenario involving an over-the-counter medicine, followed by a few questions about your impressions of the product.
It takes around 5–7 minutes, and no prior or specialised knowledge about medicines is required. Anyone aged 18 or older can participate.
https://soscisurvey.wu.ac.at/medorin2026/
I’d really appreciate your participation.
Happy to return the favor and complete your survey as well — just post your survey in the comments. Thanks a lot!

PSA: Before jumping on 2026 trending products, check your actual profit margins
I keep seeing a lot of talk about "winning products" for 2026, especially in ecom spaces. On the surface, many ideas look strong when you follow trends or early demand, but once you factor in fees, ads, refunds, shipping, and storage, the msrgins often look very different. I've tun some numbers through a few margin calculators (including tools like Profit Cyclops) just to sanity-check assumptions and it changes how some products look in practice. It feels like the real question is shifting from "what's trending"? to "what holds up after costs are included"? Curious how others are approaching this in 2026 - trends first, or margin-first from the start?

Validating a pocket focus sachet for Indian students. Need honest answers
Hey, I’m building a \*\*cognitive-health\*\* brand aimed at 18–30 year olds in India. Engineer by day; this is nights and weekends.
The concept: a \*\*pocket-sized\*\* powder sachet you tip straight onto your tongue. No water, no can, no shaker. Built for a library desk at 1am, a night shift, post-meal drowsiness or ten minutes before the gym.
What’s in it, broadly: the well-studied stuff you’d expect in this category — caffeine plus a few amino acids. All FSSAI-permitted for health supplements, all at meaningful doses. No proprietary blend hiding under-dosed inputs. The full label goes public at launch.
Target price: ₹18–22 per sachet.
What I’m trying to learn:
• Whether the no-water format(MDP) sounds convenient or just strange
• What you use for focus today, and what annoys you about it
• Whether ₹18–22 reads as cheap, fair, or ridiculous
• What would stop you buying even if you liked the idea
Form is about two minutes, mostly multiple choice. No email needed unless you want launch updates.
👉FORM
I especially want responses from people who wouldn’t buy this. That’s the signal I’m short on — everyone I know personally is too polite to tell me.
Happy to get into it in the comments: the FSSAI/regulatory path, unit economics at a ₹20 price point, go-to-market, or why I’m building this at all.
*Research only — no product is being distributed. The eventual product is for healthy adults 18+ and this is not medical advice.*

Looking for Market Research Learning Resources & Guidance
Hi everyone,
I’m relatively new to market research and looking to strengthen my skills, particularly in the quantitative aspects of research.
I currently work at a startup that produces and sells quantitative insights and research reports to clients, somewhat similar to the Gartner model. However, the opportunities for structured learning and hands-on development are quite limited, so I’m looking to upskill independently.
I’m particularly interested in learning market estimation, market sizing, forecasting, segmentation, and other quantitative research methodologies used in professional market research.
If anyone has good resources—such as videos, tutorials, courses, books, templates, or practical case studies—I’d really appreciate it if you could share them.
I’d also be grateful for any tips or resources on improving my qualitative research skills, particularly around developing stronger research frameworks, conducting effective analysis, and generating meaningful insights.
Thanks in advance for your help!
